Game Thread: Knicks at Spurs- 11/11/08

S_jackson_i_medium

Good evening, New York. Our streaking Knicks are in San Antonio tonight, prepared to take on the Spurs. S.A. is without Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, and at 1-4, the Spurs aren't very much themselves. Tim Duncan is still a force to be reckoned with, though, and our gameplan to handle "The Big Douchebag" will have to be similar to the one used to keep Carlos Boozer in check. Double hard and attack him on offense to get him in foul trouble. Or karate chop his neck until he's out cold. Either way.

Meanwhile, the rest of tonight's Spurs are a cast of characters you've never heard of, from Desmon Farmer to Anthony Tolliver (maybe my next t-shirt jersey purchase) to George Hill. Other than that, you may remember Ime Udoka (Barnes can give us some insight on that), and Kurt Thomas from their days as Knicks. Though we're a sexy-ass 4-2 and the Spurs are banged up, it's extremely important not to take this game for granted (weird to hear myself say that). We've got a good thing going, and it'd be a shame to let the guard down when we've got a great opportunity to face a top-tier team at their weakest.

Look for Mike D'Antoni to reignite his rivalry with Gregg Popovich with fast-paced offense and aggressive defense and teach him a thing or two about facial hair grooming. Get them W's, and make sure to check out the NBA blog that got me into NBA blogging, Pounding the Rock. Tipoff's at 8:30.

to show how much of a nerd i am

i know exactly who George Hill is.

i watched him play high school ball here locally for Broad Ripple High where he was the fifth leading scorer in State history. he then was basically a one-man show at IUPUI. it’s good to see a local kid from a public high school livin’ the dream. he’s one of the many NBA first rounders to come out of Indiana in the last three years: Mike Conley, Greg Oden, Courtney Lee, Rodney Carney, and Eric Grodon.

not a good quarter

the spurs couldn’t hit anything from anywhere, so we did the same.

second half

knicks need to double faster on duncan and push the ball a little more to get those easy baskets.

don't bother feeling like it

what’s the use?

if nate and zach each made two of their countless misses this would not have been a cruise to victory for the spurs.

credit the san antonio defense. and a ton of hometown/duncan calls. then wash your hands of this one. might as well wash our brains of it too.

don't fret, y'all

we’re above .500. if we can keep it that way for an extended period of time, i’ll be pretty happy about this whole basketball thing.

nate looked like old nate

and i kno this may b expecting 2 much but chandler should have had a better game. Spurs d was straight fire tho so i dont wanna say we looked that shitty. didnt help that their 83 year old players were playing very good tonight. 2 many guys on this team just blend in for huge parts of time.

malike rose and mardy collins

i don’t understand expecting nate to get into a any sort of rhythm against one of the best defenses in the league (and dont gimme that ranked last shit) when he shares the court with the likes of malik rose, mardy collins, anthony roberson, and david lee (on a bum wheel)? it happened i understand trying to preserve some guys… but you do that tonight against memphis not in the biggest game of the young season.

after sharing the court with a bunch of half wits, i don’t see how nate could possibly get ina rhythm unless he forced up a few shots and got lucky. give the spurs credit.

you other options are mardy collins and anthony roberson! think it through.
