Analyzing the Works of the Walsh

The trades are done.

The Knicks roster has been completely mutated.

Wlsh stuck to his guns, and ignored the hot start and improved play, by trading Zach Randolph and Jamal Crawford. Walsh's plan all along was to clear up space for the 2010 free agency and if thats what the man wants thats what the Knicks are gonna get.

So what does this mean.....

The immediate thing that comes to mind is simple, LBJ - MSG, LeBron (more on that later), but this trade actually helps the Knicks in their playoff push now.

Walsh traded away Jamal and Randolph, the teams top 2 leading scorers, leading rebounder, and the lone Big Man not named Malik Rose. Thats lot to lose in one day, if we're only thinking about this season. but when you think about it, Al Harrington replaces Randolph's presence in the post as well as adds a much needed shooter. Cuttino Mobley may not be the player he once was, nor can he match Crawford's scoring output, but he makes up the difference in scoring with his hustle and Defense. So it is an almost even swap and than throw in Tim Thomas.

The Knicks also found great fits for D'Antoni's running system in these players. Al Harrington was the true prize for now and should have a lot of success for the Knicks. Thomas was able to revive his career under D'Antoni with the Suns in 2006 maybe he can do it again. Also Randolph and Crawford weren't great fits for the Knicks system anyway. Seriously Randolph may be like RAmbo in coparison to his rotund team mate, the one and only Eddy Curry, but in reality he is not in great shape. I really doubt he could handle a whole season in D'Antoni's sprinting system. Crawford recebt success can possibly be attributed to his hot shooting which I think will eventually even out. Also he likes to hang on to the ball and create for himself, something that is frowned upon by D'Amtoni. The Knicks were really in an awful position before, to bad to compete for a ring to good to draft a franchise player, no cap space, so The Knicks were really stuck in Basketball Hell but no onw realized it because they were looking good for the first time in years.

Star-divide

Now, for what everyone is thinking about, 2010. The answer is YES. The Knicks will be very far under the Cap in 2010. They shoul have their pick of anyone in the class with a ton of space leftover. Of course everyone LeBron, they will be able to sign him. Jalen Rose has said on ESPN News that the Knicks WILL get Lebron and Chris Bosh. Alot of sorces are saying alot of things. The Knicks will also be able to sign Nate this offseason without affecting they're plans for 2010.

Here is my plan. The Knicks need to sign Bosh, if not him than Amare. The only way I would accept them sign niether of the is if the drafte someone like Hasheem Thabeet or Blake Griffin ect. this year and he turned out to be a total beast. The knicks NEED a Big Man. The Lakers showed last year that it doesnt matter who's on the outside scoring if you can't stop anyone in the paint. They have Chandler who is a stud but he's more of a Shawn Marion combo forward. The west is also incredibly stacked when it comes to young Bigs, with Bynum tearing it up and Oden still developing, not to mention Superman waiting for the Knicks in their own Conference in Orlando. I just think that if the Knicks are going to build a winner they might as well do it right. My second step is bound to piss some people off and make many people hit the X in about 10 second, get D-Wade not LeBron. I'm sorry i just seriously think that LeBron is going to get caught up in the Limelight in NY. Also Wade has the Ring. Say whatever you want but I also think that Wade allows them to start the best lineup Bosh, Chandler, Danillo Wade and whoever is at the point. If theey can get rid of curry they may be able to sign Nash to Play point, otherwise I think they stay with Duhon. No matter what they do the Knicks will look very very different in 2010 and it will be for the better It is a great day to be a Knick.
