Game Thread: Knicks at Wizards- 11/7/08
Good evening, friends. The Knicks are in Washington D.C. this evening to take on the Wizards. Two changes to tonight's game experience: Wilson Chandler will sub in for David Lee at the starting power forward spot. Lee will obviously still get minutes at the 4 and 5, but D'Antoni sees Chandler as a better match-up for Knick killer Antawn Jamison. Your second change is Kelly Tripucka subbing in for Clyde as our color commentator for the evening. Should be exciting...
For the Wiz perspective, make sure you check out one of the best blogs in the game, Bullets Forever. Don't say anything about the smell over there. They try their best.
Get them W's.

and one of Indiana’s many great college players/bad pros.
i.e. Jared Jeffries

this D'Antoni offense is pretty sweet
when they’re actually making shots (especially threes).

Don't worry
I’m sure there will be plenty of squandering from both sides.

Someday, if there’s ever a Posting and Toasting meet-up, I’ve got a funny Anthony Roberson story. Remind me.

Are we outplaying them, or is it even with the exception of one big run?
by twincitiesknick on Nov 7, 2008 8:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
pretty even
with the exception of two big runs. and some hot shooting.

Duhon
3 pts, 10 ast, no turnovers.
that’s the kind of line i expect from him. it’s just tough to stomach a PG that can’t score, but i still think he’s going to be a good player.
Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!
by Anthony Masons Haircut on Nov 7, 2008 8:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
i still wish
he’d attack a little more. if that means taking the ball to the rim, that’s great. if that means threading the needle or throwing an alley-oop, even better. i just don’t think he’s getting the D on its heels.

53% shooting is nice
but not when you allow 56% shooting.

Defense
Is it just me, or play-to-play does it look like the Knicks are playing decent defense?
I know 56% is ridiculous, but I’m not seeing tons of open looks for Washington.
by twincitiesknick on Nov 7, 2008 8:44 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
it's been spotty
but, yeah, there have been a few pretty solid possessions. the wiz haven’t been stopped when they cut backdoor or force mismatches, though.

any semblance of defense looks better
than Milwaukee, Philly, and the past two seasons.
Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!
by Anthony Masons Haircut on Nov 7, 2008 8:47 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
the thing about this defense
is i can live with 50+& shooting from the other team, if they’d only force some turnovers and limit the shot attempts. they’re not attacking passing lanes like they did the other night.

but Starks was not only worlds better as a defender, he also was a much smarter player.

Over .500 again
Nice feeling, even if we’ve been snacking on the dregs of the league if only because we might be ascending to the upper tiers of dregdom.
by twincitiesknick on Nov 7, 2008 9:19 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
i'll take it
first time they’ve been over .500 after three games since January of 2005. if they can continue to beat the lesser teams on their schedule, they’ll be in good shape. we’ll learn more about them after the next two (Utah, SA).
