Dear God, please no...
(Editor's Note: From the Fanposts: I'm with Mase. Walsh's rep goes kaboom instantly if he trades Lee for Diaw.)
The latest from NY Daily News beat writer Frank Isola's blog Knicks Knation:
"The Phoenix Suns traded one of D’Antoni’s all-time favorite players to the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday along with Raja Bell for Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley. The move means that when D’Antoni makes his emotional return to the Valley on Monday he won’t have as many former players to embrace.
But the trade also opens the door for the Knicks to eventually acquire Diaw, especially with Donnie Walsh’s good friend, Larry Brown, falling in and out of love with players on a daily basis."
I don't have any problem with a Diaw/D'Antoni reunion. Though Diaw isn't much of a frontcourt player, he would add some size to the Knicks' interior (think of a thicker and better Jared Jeffries) - which is an area of need at this point.
What I do have a problem with is this:
"But now, you could see a scenario - perhaps one that would include David Lee being shipped out - where Diaw is wearing a Knicks uniform."
Yikes.
Besides being a P&T fan-favorite, Lee seems to be one of the few Knicks (along with Wil Chandler) worth keeping around for the LeBron/Amare/Bosh/Nash(?) spending mania in the summer of 2010. Diaw has almost $27M remaining on a contract that goes through the 2010-11 season - a deal which would go against Donnie Walsh's 2010 purging plan. Meanwhile, the Knicks didn't offer Lee an extension before this season, meaning that he will be a restricted free agent this summer.
There were some rumors over the summer that the Knicks were interested in landing Diaw, along with former D'Antoni favorite Leandro Barbosa. I know that D'Antoni would probably like to make it happen, but because Walsh was able to shed so much cap space with the Z-Bo and Craw trades, I don't see him backtracking and adding a guy like Diaw.
It especially wouldn't make sense to ship David Lee to bring in Diaw, who adds minimal value. If Walsh was going to part with Lee, I'm assuming it would either be to sugarcoat a package including someone like Eddy Curry to dump more salary, or in a deal that includes a future first round draft pick.

Not a possibility
Don’t worry Mace. League rules prohibit Diaw from being traded except for only one player. Plus, and more importantly, Diaw’s contract (I believe) goes past 2010. I don’t see Walsh taking that on.
Lee may get swapped, but not for Diaw. Most likely it would be if there’s no other way to dump Curry’s contract.
Classic case of Isola talking out of his asshola.

this helps
“I love David Lee, and the reason you always hear his name is that’s who everybody wants”.
- An uncharacteristically sassy Mike D’Antoni in some MSG commercial.
I repeat this to myself in times like these. Im with the above comment, if Walsh is willing to give up the team’s top two scorers to get the money behind 2010, he won’t give up our best rebounder/lady pleaser to get past it again.

Nobody
has mentioned how slamming those girls are? What is this, a credible, sophisticated blog?
Yeah, I’d flip if Lee got swapped for that idiot. Jeffries? That wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

yo man
this guy is basically saying that the bobcats would make a good trade (not a chance) and that donnie walsh would suddenly go back on his plan to be so far under the cap that year that the whole league is on notice (years in advance no less). isola had a deadline, and a word minimum. next time you see that stuff tell him “eat a dick” and don’t give it any credence.
