Game Thread: Knicks at Bobcats- 10/30/09

New York Knicks at Charlotte Bobcats, Oct 30, 2009 7:00 PM EDT

Lb_medium

It's that time of year, friends. Every once in a while, the Charlotte Bobcats and their evil, bat-breathing demon-coach are matched up with our Knicks. Mike D'Antoni will trot out the same lineup we saw against Miami, though it remains to be seen how long this starting five lasts.

Tipoff's at 7. Come on by if you're watching and leave comments aplenty. Stop by Rufus On Fire to talk Bobcatz.

first win coming

I have to say I am pretty pumped for this. I live in London so if anyone knows a good free stream would they be able to send the link?

P.S. DWTDD

free darko

I really think we should start Darko and bench JJ as well. Although TC isn’t exactly a dominant centre, I still think it’s for the best.

by Stecka on Oct 30, 2009 7:04 PM EDT reply actions

i'm looking for maximum darko minutes

solely for revenge against the demon-coach. he wants it.

by Seth on Oct 30, 2009 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions

good point

I forgot Darko, along with so many others, has a beef with the demon-coach

Going to be cheering for Bobcats every night except the ones when they play New York!

Here’s to hoping for that first win.

Final score. Knicks 64 Bobcats 57

i dunno

but in training camp he was throwing crossovers like he was iverson

by Seth on Oct 30, 2009 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Been good ball movement for the Bobcats, but they just are having a hard time making the shot.

ugly stuff

Where to now Pringles? Sub off everyone bar Lee and Duhon?

by Stecka on Oct 30, 2009 7:23 PM EDT reply actions

Why is our best shooter and best defender on the bench?

And are we seriously letting the worst offense in the league jack 3’s while we brick it every time we get the ball?

Knicks are going to set a record for most missed wide open threes.

Usually i would be able to watch every game, but now that I moved to NC this year I only will get to watch a few games, and when I’m not watching those games I’m going to have to settle for the Bobcats =/

Are we really letting the Bobcats do this for us?

There’s nothing good about this team right now.

by Nolan B on Oct 30, 2009 7:39 PM EDT reply actions

So the way it looks right now, the Bobcats were horribly outclasses by Boston and right now we are getting outclassed by them. I don’t want to see what will happen when we start playing upper class teams.

by Pennywise on Oct 30, 2009 7:43 PM EDT reply actions

we'll beat them

or at least lose by like 4. the world is a wild place.

by Seth on Oct 30, 2009 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions

By getting them tired from making all the shots in the game? ^^

by Pennywise on Oct 30, 2009 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions

fair point but..

we have the knack of getting close to the good teams. Getting within 10 at least.

I'm hanging on but not by much

Yankee vs Philly World Series have already almost sent me off the edge, if the Superbowl has the Eagles vs Pats/Jets then that might finish me off.

by Rodger Sherman on Oct 30, 2009 7:57 PM EDT reply actions

what i don't get

the dudes chucking up brick after brick on wide open shots are the same dudes who hit lots of em last year, and who i genuinely consider to be average or above shooters.
and they’re not just rimming out. they’re clanking. it’s ugly.

by Rodger Sherman on Oct 30, 2009 8:05 PM EDT reply actions

They just have to find their shot rhythm and hopefully it will all come together.

by Pennywise on Oct 30, 2009 8:07 PM EDT up reply actions

by that point will have already handed Utah the number 1 pick

by Nolan B on Oct 30, 2009 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe, but not much we can do about it, can’t force them to him the shots they should be hitting.

by Pennywise on Oct 30, 2009 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Well something has to give…if we are just going to test things out we might as well only play those who will be here next year. Gallo had a poor first quarter but he’s a basically arookie playing with a trainwreck of a team, we can’t pull him every time he makes a mistake especially when the alternatives are no better

by Nolan B on Oct 30, 2009 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions

you're right

i’d rather struggle with Gallo, Toney, Hill, etc. on the floor than struggle with Jeffires, Al, and Duhon on the floor – guys that have no future with this team.

We might have made a mistake, but what happened happened. He was horrible in the Italian league, when Gallo was younger than him he played better than Jennings. We weren’t the only team to pass on him, like Blair he has something to prove, let’s move on with our lives.

Just think

4 stops in a row followed by 4 Gallo treys and were only down 1

by runningdonut on Oct 30, 2009 8:50 PM EDT reply actions

Can we just let Gallo take a 3 every play?

He won’t get it every time but if we are just going to mindlessly shoot anyway let’s at least let Gallo practice his shot. We probably would keep it closer this way.

by Nolan B on Oct 30, 2009 8:51 PM EDT reply actions

Chandler should lay off the sauce on 3's

He’s actually a good player with a much wider skill set. Willie C doesn’t need that shot and is the only guy showing willingness to take someone off the dribble. Even if Willie shot 50% from 3 we’d have enough other crap shooting to cancel it out and lose anyhow

In his defense

The ref’s have it out for him. I’m not saying it’s the only thing wrong, but every time he does everything but throw a 3 he either is called for a foul or a foul on him is ignored.

Come on, it's too early to say

Blair is looking good but was a health risk, notice how every team passed on him in the first round? Jennings is as much a project as Hill, he was horrible in Italy and could turn out to be Marbury 2.0 even if he puts up stats

Ty Lawson is tearing it up. He would have helped the Knicks win 5 more games this year.

Has anyone else realized that Wilson Chandler is not very good? He wasn’t good last year or the year before. He just isn’t very skilled and probably never will be. Plus, he has bad shot selection.

Isiah

would have drafted Lawson.

It’s the smart move but it was against the conventional wisdom. Isiah didn’t care if he looked foolish if he thought he was right.

But then he would have traded him after a year with two future, unprotected first round picks for Kwame Brown and Richard Hamilton.

I agree with that.

Lawson is really good too. I think both Jennings and Lawson will end up better than Flynn and Curry.

co-sign

on both points. chandler is really overrated, unfortunately. he’s an above-average defender, pretty terrible offensively. but he dunks on people…which is like…cool and stuff.

lawson>>>hill, he’s the perfect PG for this system. strong, fast, good passer, and a winning mentality.

Hmmmm . . .

My DVR stopped recording the game just as Felton tied it at the end of the first OT, so help me out here.

Which is worse, our offense or our defense?

Harrington, Duhon, and Chandler left their shot at home (I hope). For a team that can’t shoot, they settled for a ton of difficult shots. I suppose they left their dribbling hands at home too. They foul too much and can’t get to the line. They are overall bad. David Lee is probably pissed the Knicks screwed him into staying here.

please remind me how the knicks screwed him into staying here?

he had every chance to get an offer sheet signed. its his agent bartelstien’s fault he isnt in portland right now

They drafted Jordan Hill just to mess with Lee’s leverage, and convinced other teams they’d match offer sheets. Teams didn’t want to tie up their money in a player who’d get resigned by his current team.
