Give Hill a solid chance!
D'antoni needs to give Jordan Hill a chance. Look at last night, he gave Hill 14 minutes and he scores 10 points. He has played in four other games and has scored in 3 of them. A bucket in 1:34 against the Hawks, 7 points in 12:49 against the Bucks and 6 points in 4:46 against the Cavs. He is putting the ball through with the time he is given to work with. He is also a top ten draft pick on the second worst team in the NBA there is no reason that he should not be getting more court time. Yea Brandon Jennings is scoring 20.6 pg but he also has 33 minutes a game to do so. Again hill played 14 last night and scored 10. Do the math.

I can't see why not.
Jeffries is useless, Lee is annoying with his lack of defensive effort.
Its really not like a single frontcourt player is deserving their minutes right now.

you can’t really fault Lee for his defense because he’s guarding guys he shouldn’t be guarding. he’s not a center and the height difference screws him over. so even if he does do his best to defend someone, in the end it really won’t be that much of a factor. he hasn’t got the tools to be a great defender anyway
the teams on pace to win less than 10 games this season. you’d think they’d see that something obviously isn’t working and that this season doesn’t mean shit anyway. why not give minutes to the players who are actually going to be on the roster next year?

Height, but also weight
Lee is just not a real burly dude. It’s not so much his height but his weight and strength. It’s hard for him to stop those guys without getting into foul trouble. Also, if he concentrates on that, his rebounding suffers too.
You’re right though, Lee has no shot of guarding 5’s well, and D’antoni wants a guy that can shoot from the outside at the 4. Last year they had some success with Lee at the 5 but I think the teams have all figured out how to attack this weakness. I like Lee -he’s a crafty player but I don’t see how he fits in D’antoni’s system.
lee can fit.
anybody that works hard and is effective is a good piece to have. besdies if lee challenged more of the plays he’d be in foul trouble worse than jordan hill. and he would average about 25 minutes agame.

I agree
I totally believe Lee can help a team, but I think he has to be put in a position to succeed. I think he would be best at the 4 opposite a center that can score and attract attention (Like Curry was way back when.) But D’antoni doesn’t like playing a 4 that can’t extend his defender out to the perimeter. I think D’antoni should adjust, because Lee does a lot of good things and nothing D’antoni does is going to make Lee into a 3 point shooter or give him 50 pounds of muscle and 3 more inches. I really hope Curry can get back and play like he used to because I think Lee and Curry is a good combo, backed up by Darko/Harrington. I’m sick to death of being undersized – other teams have figured out how to exploit it and we need to counter with a different strategy.
yeah well
If you want to trade some of these other guys, you gotta play them to showcase them. Although losing 9 of 10 games is hardly a convincing showcase…
Some interesting stats to think about
People ask why we drafted Hill, this might give you a clue:
hill with shoes – 6’10.25"
griffin with shoes – 6’10"
hill’s wingspan – 7’1.5"
griffin’s wingspan – 6’11.25"
hill’s reach – 9’0"
griffin’s reach – 8’9"
hill’s no step vertical – 31.0
griffin’s no step vertical – 32.0
hill’s no step vertical reach – 11’7"
griffin’s no step vertical reach – 11’5"
hill’s max vertical – 35.0
griffin’s max vertical – 35.5
hill’s max vertical reach – 11’11"
griffin’s max vertical reach – 11’8.5"
I saw all a that when they drafted him.
This guy has everything that Griffen does, except that important killer instinct that Griffen seems to have (…Tyler Hansborough’s got it too…saw him against the Celtics the other day, he’s a good player).
He’s got potential, that’s what all this says. He may even have more potential than Jennings.
I’d love to see him get more PT over David Lee, who’s really been annoying me….

thank you.
David Lee is NOT the problem. He has proven his value and he is doing everything asked of him. He is one dude rebounding while the rest of the Knicks are standing on the 3pt line. Winning teams don’t rely one only one guy grabbing rebounds. Teams would LOVE to have a guy who works as hard as Lee does too.

doesn’t matter how athletic or built you are if you’re lacking awareness and are very raw on the court. basketball is a game where while you can get paid for being a tall guy, you won’t make a proper career out of it unless you have the talent to go with the tools. what good is a tall and athletic guy if he gets into foul trouble, has trouble with assignments and is inconsistent offensively?
i hope Hill does well. he’s not going to be a superstar, but he should be a respectable player if he is able to develop. however, that’s kinda hard when the experience you’re getting is from training with the Knicks and only getting 10 mins playing time a night in a meaningless season.

He has all the physical tools of a great forward, and has good skill for a guy playing the game only 5 years.
He doesn’t seem to have the mentality of a great player, and this will likely hold him back, but there’s no reason he can’t be a major contributor. At the very least he’s a defensive upgrade over Lee, and he has just as much potential for finishing and rebounding.
don't forget that he has a nice outside shot...
He doesn’t have the drive and athleticism of Amare, but he definitely has a lot of that sort of all around skill.
I just wish they’d give him more time

Hill's mentality....
keep in mind Hill didn’t played organized basketball as a junior in high school. He came out to the NBA after 3 years. He is still learning how to play basketball, guys.

jordan hill
I once thought D’ Antoni was a good coach. I understand he still gives Duhon good minutes because the Knicks most glaring need is for a point guard to step up. Although I still don’t see why Hughes should get a little more time. But, WHY ISN’T HILL GETTING ALMOST ALL OF DARKO’S OR JEFFERY’S TIME. Maybe with more time on the floor, Hill will learn to make better use of his fouls. D’Antoni is starting to remind me of Larry Brown. I sorry but I’ ve been a Knick fan for a long time, and I’ ve learned noboby’s perfect. So instead of the “Blame (Isiah Thomas) Game”, I choose to blame Walsh. He needs to encourage the use of our rookies and youngsters. I really don’t see where Jared Jarhead’s defensive prowess is worth averaging 3.3 pts a game while torturing me for 19 minutes when Hill looks 2x’s better, all around, in half the time. Every since Duhon broke the Knicks assist record, he’s gotten progressively worse. Once again, Hughes gives almost double what Duhon’s been bringing to the table. I really hope D’Antoni reads these postings and has a change of heart or somthing. The Knicks look worse THAN I HAVE EVER SEEN THE KNICKS!!!
