Jordan Hill isnt it
Hill isnt going to turn out a totally bad player but the knock on Jordan Hill is that he is soft and anyone could have seen that a mile away. He should have gone late 1st or early 2nd. The Knicks scouts fell asleep at the wheel in this draft. It may sound harsh but Donnie Walsh is too old and disconnected to pick up on a NBA stud. When asked why he passed on BJ "We didnt have a feel for his game" is the best thing he could come up with. Any organization is going to have its mistakes now and then and thats understandable but the knicks have been making epic mistakes consistently for 15 years. When is enough really enough?

Okay, I wanted Jennings at the time too. But to say that Jordan Hill should have gone in the late 1st or early 2nd is absurd. Scouts (who have observed and analyzed these players infinitely more than you have) pegged him as one of the top 5 talents in the draft, and he fell to 8 because the teams ahead of us didn’t need someone at his position. C’mon man.
Alright...
Jennings gets props for the draft day thing, the 55 points and all a that and scoring a lot of points.
But lets not compare the two players careers before even a quarter of their rookie year is done.
Hill, in no way shape or form, was gonna go out of the lottery. He was a lottery pick and potential top 5 pick.
Did the Knicks get a steal? I don’t know.
But he’s a big dude. YOu can’t be a big dude WITH NO POINT GUARD!!!!
Give it a break.

At least we didn’t trade assets for another lotto pick and end up with two point guards, one of who will likely never play for us, one who currently looks like an undersized shooting guard with as many assists as turnovers, and still miss out on Jennings.
I love how Walsh is responsible for this organization being a joke for 15 years because he’s old while every other GM gets a pass. Let’s not forget the brilliant minds at the Bucks picked Joe Alexander last year, who Hill has already shown more than.
thank you.
Walsh’s 3 draft picks are Gallo, Hill and TD.
At this time last year, weren’t we all calling Gallo a bust cuz of his injury?
THE KID’S A ROOKIE!!
Jennings doing what he did is nice and all…..but so what? Is he the sort of player you win with? A undersized scoring guard? All he seems like is a sane, taller Nate Robinson.
Could Hill be Channing Frye? Maybe, but Frye had no athleticism, Hill does.
Give the damn kid a chance. The reason’s he not playing is cuz for some reason the coach is holding out hope that the “veterans” can pull it together for a few wins. Either that or to showcase them to ship their asses out.
Hill will play. He seems like he’s a good player. Many wrote off Gallo so soon (when Eric Gordon and Brook Lopez were playing well last year). I take Gallo over both of them

yeah
Really, the Bucks nailed this one taking Jennings, but they whiffed big time on Joe Alexander. I remember lots of people complaining that the Knicks didn’t take Alexander. What can you do? It’s a goddamned crapshoot. Every year people take risks. Oh well.
I think if Hill can get rebounds in the NBA, he’s a good pick, because it looks like he’ll score some. If not, I think it’s a bad, but understandable pick. I don’t think we’ll know until the end of this year. As for Jennings, I’d like to say the jury’s still out, but the truth is I’m a believer. I still think Toney Douglas can shut him down though.
Nah i didnt mean Walsh was to blame for the past 15 years and the “Old and disconnected” comment was a bit harsh but what can i say? Im a frustrated knick fan. Im sure you can relate.

Ok
Hill is big and has potential and all but if you watch him rebound and play D he’s soft. @ tz88 If Jordan Hill was so supposed to go so high in the draft please enlighten me what teams seriously had him on their short list? You can downplay BJ’s dub nickel and his current success in the league all you want. At the end of the day our current point guard sucks and we passed on a great replacement. Most of you on this website would’ve picked BJ or Ty lawson so why is it that the ones that actually get paid to do it screwed it up? Whatever man…for what its worth i hope Jordan proves me dead wrong.

Hill was potentially a top 5 pick.
Thabeet was the 2nd “best” big man in the draft, but Hill could’ve went #4 to the Kings. They got Spencer Hawes and Jason Thompson, so another high pick wouldn’t makes sense on another one.
Jennings is good. He’s gonna be a nice player. But what sort of player is he? He’s a scorer. He’s not a PG, he’s more like an Iverson type.
Besides, when the Knicks go out and actually assemble a team, its a lot tougher to find a big dude like Hill who’s worth a damn than it is to find a small guard who can score a ton of points.
Not saying they made the right choice. Jennings or Lawson would have made some sense for this team…RIGHT NOW.
But in the future, as for building the team, Hill for the Knicks makes sense.
I don’t give a shit how much better Jennings is than Duhon. The Knicks season is a waste this year anyway and its all about the future.
There will be players available in the future to play PG if they don’t get someone like Wade (who can play PG and SG). There’s always a “ramon Sessions” type player available.
Its a young season too. We’ll see Hill play more as time goes by.
The idea the Knicks have is they drafted a big dude now to play with one of the GUARDS they plan to get in FA.
WHY would you draft a guard to play with a guard? The Knicks needed a big guy.

C'mon son
Jordan Hill going # 4 ?????? Alright buddy Ill believe that when Anucha Browne comes out with a MSG staff swimsuit calendar. I respect that you took the time to explain why Hill made sense, but at some point your gonna have to admit it was the wrong move.

its too early to make any decisions
Right now, sure it looks like we blew it on Hill. But thats not the whole story by a longshot. We KNEW Hill was a project. All experts KNEW Hill was a project. Our Guard situation isn’t nearly as glaring as our Forwards/Big Men. Hill has been playing organized basketball for 3 damn years and he has made ridiculous strides. Arizona, man. Thats no bullshit hoops program either!!
Jennings on the other hand had so much sketchy information coming out. Lack of workouts, numerous controversies, and on top of it, he missed no chance to open his big mouth after spending a year in Europe mostly on the bench. He has plenty of talent, but a big head to match and thats not necessarily a good impression to leave when you are just 19 and have achieved nothing and couldn’t even get into college. We weren’t willing to take that risk, Milwaukee was. So far its paying off.
Jennings is young, loud, talented, but so was Glen “Big Dog” Robinson. He came out of Purdue, and before his rookei year, he declared he was already one of the best forwards in the league. Drafted before Grant Hill and Jason Kidd and he played well for the first few years of his career, but he went downhill in a hurry.
How about giving Jordan Hill 2 years to develop (like a few other players….Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitski, Jermaine O’Neal, Rashard Lewis). Not comparing him to those guys, but let’s see where Brandon Jennings is 2 years from now before we decide if we blew it or not. You haven’t even given him a month!!
