Trades, Trades, Trades
Assuming Jared Jeffries and Chris Duhon don't break out into superstars (when pigs fly!) David Lee and Wilson Chandler are the Knicks most valuable trade chips right?
Portland showed interest in David Lee this past offseason and with Outlaw out for the season, Aldridge battling injuries and Oden always an injury concern, perhaps a trade with Portland for Rudy Fernandez is in order? NY needs a shooting guard, Portland needs front court depth so ... does this sound possible?
Golden State is a mess and dealing with injuries to their front court; I suggested a David Lee & Wilson Chandler for Anthony Randolph and a late first-round pick trade on here before so ... does this sound possible???

Does GS have a late first round pick?
cuz I doubt they’re trading their own lottery pick.
Overall I’d be down for either of these trades, especially the top one.

No one is as dumb as IT was as a GM for the Knicks, so the pick I speak of has to be a lottery protected pick.
If it’s in the lottery, GS keeps it, if it’s out of the lotto then NY gets it.
I’m having a hard time choosing one over the other … Fernandez gives us the shooter NY desperately needs at the 2 but Anthony has been rumored to have Lamar Odom versatility … though he has been rumored to have the same lack of professionalism also!

i really cant imagine golden state making the first trade
it would be great if they did, but i dont think it is realistic

Really
Hard to imagine them doing it, but I’d do it. Keep in mind David Lee can’t be traded (recently signed) until December 15, and Golden State would have to include another contract (i.e. Speedy Claxton) to make the trade work under the salary cap. Also David Lee would have to approve the trade, which I doubt he’d do unless GS gave him a big extension.

we have other needs than a SG
if we are to make any trades this season, it has to be for a big. We have enough guards already. We are just undersized at the PF/C spots. I wouldn’t give up Lee AND Chandler for Rudy Fernandez either. Hes good, not great.

well the randolph trade is crazy talk
randolph is too valuable for GS to trade, even if Nelson is too stupid to play him.
i’m still undecided on the fernandez deal. i guess it depends on Walsh’s opinion of d-lee and if we’re trying to keep him in 2010. my instinct is that this deal gets vetoed by one of the teams, but it’s hard to say who. maybe this becomes more realistic as the trade deadline approaches, though.

golden state wont part with randolph for a few years at least
rudy and a pick would be incredible though, even if its only second round. He could be the shooting guard here for the future, and he plays a little point and SF too. Rudy, gallo, and TD on the floor together…yikes man. Dantoni would wet himself if he wasn’t so classy.
Also, Hill could have all of lee’s minutes and i would sleep better at night.

but
id hesitate to let chandler go too for so little. he’s underachieving right now, but his numbers when its over will be much better than last year. note that off-season ankle surgery.

Can any Knicks fan honestly put their hopes on any pick from the Thomas dark ages???
So far every pick Thomas has made has either been a bust or a bench player at best … except for Trevor Ariza who he drafted and then quickly traded away for an aged Steve Francis.
So far Fernandez has shown every bit the leaping ability Chandler had last year, plus a better mid-range jumper and a 3 point shot that is just not in Chandler’s arsenal and is questionable if it ever will be.
I figured the Knicks could get more for Chandler too but they would have had to have traded him last year when his value was arguable at its’ highest.
Perhaps this kind of deal may still be possible at the end of the year, Portland seems in no hurry to unscrew their young SG from off their bench seats, so maybe the Knicks can wait and see if Chandler increases his trade value by seasons’ end.
