Game Thread: Knicks at Lakers- 11/24/09

New York Knicks at Los Angeles Lakers, Nov 24, 2009 10:30 PM EST

It's the Knicks and the defending champion Lakers tonight in Los Angeles. New York gave some other recent champs a run for their money the other day. Can they do the same tonight, and maybe finish the job this time?

This here's your game thread for comments throughout the game. I think I'll end up taping this game and watching it later, but I'll be stopping by if I manage to catch any of the live broadcast. Lay on the comments and don't forget to check out Silver Screen and Roll for all things purple and gold. Tipoff's at 10:30.

can we go back to having the pictures be of obscure 90's players?

so much better than nature, plus i feel like everyone here is in that age group where the NBA in the 90’s was the greatest thing in their life so far.

in due time

at the moment, i’m making more of an effort to obey the law.

by Seth on Nov 24, 2009 9:27 PM EST up reply actions

not sure what you mean by that

but i trust that i’ll see chris dudley on a game thread sometime soon.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 9:31 PM EST up reply actions

and start curry

i went to the game in jersey, he only scored 3 points but he is a BEAST on the inside. he’s playing with so much more fire than a couple years ago. And he got Lopez into foul trouble which was the difference in the game.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 9:25 PM EST reply actions

i think theyre still concerned about his ability to play for more than 15-20 minutes. it stands out a lot more if you start the game and are taken out early on vs. being brought off the bench close to the end of the first quarter then playing into the beginning of the second quarter (and then doing the same in the 3rd and 4th).

by ibnyc on Nov 24, 2009 9:28 PM EST up reply actions

yea but id rather have all of his time come against the opponents starting center, because he draws so many fouls.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 9:30 PM EST up reply actions

fair point. maybe they purposefully dont want that? easier for him to look good against second units?

by ibnyc on Nov 24, 2009 9:39 PM EST up reply actions

thats possible

I guess its a matter of wanting to win the game vs curry’s trade value going up.

Honestly, if Curry is going to be playing with passion, and he’s in shape, is there a better way to spend the $10M if we dump his salary? I cant believe I’m saying this but if he is his 2006 self + passion + in shape, he’s one of the few solid centers in the east. lets keep him.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 9:42 PM EST up reply actions

he has a heart that is both literally and figuratively weak. no defense, no rebounding. no way he’s worth 11 mill ever.

by ibnyc on Nov 24, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

are there any centers/ big PFs that are free agents? (besides bosh who will get max from someone else) it’s such a huge difference having a big guy in the paint instead of david lee playing center. Id pay him 11M if the other option is not having a center.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 9:48 PM EST up reply actions

He's been rebounding

since he’s come back. It’s shocking. I see fire. Also shocking.

by fuhry on Nov 24, 2009 10:13 PM EST up reply actions

he looks angry when hes trying to get post position. its refreshing to see someone on the team angry as opposed to sad and bored.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 10:15 PM EST up reply actions

same starting lineup

duhon hughes chandler gallo lee

according to some guy on twitter

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 10:09 PM EST reply actions

Why not

I don’t like Toney starting at shooting guard. They should bring in him and N8 as a unit.

by fuhry on Nov 24, 2009 10:15 PM EST up reply actions

duhon should not be starting

on ANY team that plays basketball. start douglas at PG and nate at SG. this team needs some energy.

id start douglas nate gallo lee curry. so sick of duhon harringotn and hughes stealing minutes and shots from the guys that will still be knicks in 5 months.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 10:17 PM EST reply actions

I was going to say,

“hey, where is everybody? The Knicks are playing relatively well.”

But then Duhon dribbled the ball off his foot. Typical.

lets get curry in the game

i hate gasol so much. he needs a good rondo-shove.

by jayvb on Nov 24, 2009 11:27 PM EST reply actions

whens the last time the knicks actually hit a jumper?

by konopka21 on Nov 24, 2009 11:31 PM EST reply actions

how is that not a flagrant?

that was one of the more flagrant and intentional fouls ive ever seen.

by jayvb on Nov 25, 2009 12:25 AM EST reply actions

i dont understand

how are danilo and curry not on the floor right now? i cant understand this. jeffries and harrington in garbage time? ARRGRHRGRHRG

by jayvb on Nov 25, 2009 12:29 AM EST reply actions

What the heck!

I don’t understand what the problem is with Jordan Hill. He looks like he’s doing fine to me. He’s playing good defense, he’s active on the glass, and he’s running the floor well, not mention getting buckets. Why isn’t he playing more!!!

I’ll bet D’Antoni’s been ordered to showcase Jeffries. This is ridiculous!

by StarksMiddleFinger on Nov 25, 2009 12:36 AM EST reply actions

I don’t get it either. He doesn’t look like an instant NBA star but he looks good enough to be getting serious time, I’m liking his game and it’s obvious why he was a lotto pick

by Nolan B on Nov 25, 2009 12:41 AM EST up reply actions

I think

Jefferies and Duhon are being showcased.

by DoctorK16 on Nov 25, 2009 12:50 AM EST up reply actions

yea

im all for setting those guys loose at the end of year, or using them in trades to dump jeffries. they have losing attitudes and i used to love nate, but he’s out of control.

we’ve got our core of douglas / hill / danilo / chandler / curry (not really an option), lets sit everybody else and atleast have a fun young team a start would like to join.

by jayvb on Nov 25, 2009 12:56 AM EST up reply actions

i wasnt here for the post cuz i knew what it would be

however id like to state that im a big supporter of hill and after seeing him throw down a dunk and to see how high he was i must say the future looks brighter than before

by IB on Nov 25, 2009 12:53 AM EST reply actions

honestly the youngs

are much better than the olds if you pay attention to their games, hopefully walsh realizes that and tries to get compensation for some of them before the years over
