Recap, Nuggets 128, Knicks 125
Editor's Note: Ugh. Fuhry's got the recap.
OK, I'll attempt a quick recap here.
Basically, the Denver Nuggets are a very good team. The Knicks played pretty well, shooting almost 49% for the game - much better than they've been shooting. I also thought they had some pretty good energy out there on both ends of the floor. The Nuggets hit some shots. Some tough shots. Man, they can shoot. Kenyon Martin is a dork with a bad tattoo. Carmelo Anthony scored 50. Al Harrington scored 41 on 14-24 shooting, including 4-8 from three. Down the stretch the Knicks kept scoring, but so did Denver. So they lost, because Denver has Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony.
Duhon actually hit some shots today. It really makes a big difference. Gallo shot only 2-10, and didn't look real good out there. He doesn't know what to do when he gets the ball - he launches a three, or passes immediately. He's afraid to put the ball on the floor. And he doesn't look that energetic on defense. Toney, inexplicably, did not see action tonight. Nate shot 4-9 from the field. Hill did not see the court.
Again, 49% shooting, 41% from three, only outrebounded by 3 (Both David Lee and Harrington had 10). Chandler was 5-12, but hit a couple of threes, and looked to have good energy out there. He was guarding Melo in the part of the game I saw and Melo scored 50. But shoot, the Knicks almost won the game anyway. I thought David Lee played well. I don't know, from what I see, Lee is a good player. He gets the ball inside and most of the time puts it in. He cuts well, and he even showed off some post moves tonight and a midrange J on a pick and pop. Though If he tries to do what Harrington does, he fails, as I saw him do once tonight. But he usually doesn't try that stuff.
The Knicks started with energy tonight, didn't fall behind early. They kept it close and roared back in the 4th when it seemed Denver might put them away. But in the end, it seemed they couldn't stop Billups and Anthony from scoring. Damn, it'd be nice to have a guy like Billups on the Knicks. I was hoping Toney could turn into a Billups type. Now, I'm hoping that D'antoni is sitting Toney for some other reason than that he's not all that good.
Anyway, another narrow loss to a good team, not very satisfying. Harrington was pretty on tonight, but don't get used to it. If he could play like that every night...... but no, that's the difference right there.
And in conclusion... Meh.

Gallo shold come of the bench
b/c the way I see it if he comes in 5 or 6 minutes into the game guys will not have their focus on him and he can go shoot crazy…… just a thought
you might be right
Gallo is not exactly tearing it up out there. I do think they should do a Hubie Brown first unit/second unit thing with the young guys playing together. on the other hand, too many lineup changes already

One other thing
D’antoni is not very encouraging out there. A couple of times I saw the knicks move the ball well and get a good shot that didn’t go and he was just scowling and i thought he should be clapping.

i'm excited to see
Al, Duhon, Hughes, guys that won’t be with the Knicks next season, come up big.
i’m even more excited about Jordan Hill and Toney Douglas, two guys that will be with the Knicks next season, play a combined zero minutes.
Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!

i said this on another post
whats more insulting, TD not playing or TD playing 6 minutes? He has shown he should get minutes and it just boggles my mind that 5 games age TD played what 25 minutes and last night a DNP CD?
to be fair
Nate and Duhon and Hughes each did excellent jobs manning the Point on offense vs Denver

Duhon was awful
I watched the game and I wanted to tear my damn hair out. All Duhon did was slow down the tempo to a crawl. The Knicks had ZERO fastbreaks and it wasn’t because they couldn’t steal the ball or grab rebounds. It was because their ball handler never pushed the ball up the court. The idea of SSOL doesn’t work if your PG takes 7 secons to cross midcourt, then waits until 9 seconds are left on the shotclock to pass to David Lee in the post. You know what I noticed? Duhon plays PG with his eyes closed.
