Am I missing something?
I live in Dayton, Ohio and got league pass. I dont get the local vibes from living in New York but whats the feel?
I have feelings of excitement about 2010, but also a underlying fear of the knicks being rejected by every FA worth getting. Even a guy like Joe Johnson has to think itd be crazy to leave Atl for the knicks at this point. Personally, I am not pleased with D'antoni but I understand he kind of gets a pass until next year, is that how NY feels? I guess I want that local sports vibe from a local NYer. Is the frustration mounting in a way thats palpable? do people go to games? are the knicks even relevant in the city? I love the Browns and I listen to ESPN miss the mark with how we feel about our teams situation, and I am curious I know how Ny really feels about the Knicks.

I live in NYC and went to the first three home games. In my experience, no one cares about the team. Many people in the stands expect a loss, and are baffled by the play. D’Antoni isn’t doing anything right, but it is largely Duhon’s fault as well. The Knicks played well last year when Duhon played well. This year, he’s shooting under 30% and not doing anything else either.
The players don’t care either. Most expect to be gone, and most probably should be gone. David Lee really plays no defense, and disappears against teams with centers. Gallinari usually looks lost, just waiting in the corner for the ball. Jeffries is booed every time he’s in the game. Wilson Chandler shoots tons of bad jumpers and doesn’t rebound enough. It’s a big mess.
MSG is half empty and the marketing seems desperate. Prices are sinking, they’re giving away meals, and they have ridiculous shows in between quarters. If the Nets hadn’t forfeited the season, people would be even angrier.
yea man
the temperature feels like a lot of people that don’t care at all about the team. but they are ready to turn on a dime and become the world’s best (fair weather) fans. it’s just one big waiting game.
d’antoni isn’t doing anything right, because he gives the players too much rope. the players aren’t doing anythign right because they either don’t care, or can’t live up to the expectations (whether they are self-expectations or otherwise, everybody is falling excruciatingly short).
the knicks have made me into a bi-polar lunatic. and the guys i root for, don’t even get enough time on the court, nor do they get enough touches, shots, etc. i haven’t been to a game this year. but my ratio of money/time is so up and down that i can only get to a game if everything comes together cmpletely by chance.
if the nets are inbrooklyn any time soon, we’re gonna be the worst team in the league for 5 more years, spurned by the entire league. lotta players can’t deal with the fame and fortune that new york brings. lebron might be the only one. and he might like the nets better. and not many guys would want to come to the garden, the world’s most famous arena, just to be second fiddle in their own town.
we’re gonna wind up stuck with chris bosh and next year’s hopes, coupled with the anxiety of ten year’s worth of malfunction. bosh can’t even get his own shitty team to win! imagine a brooding city of basketball fanatics putting some real pressure on him! with his max contract. ain’t gonna work cowboy.
it’s the doldrums of fandom here. and it’s hard to tell how low the valley is when it’s this dark outside.

dammit! I wasn’t even thinking about the whole valley and darkness aspect!!! I took a little comfort telling myself THIS is as bad as we are gonna be, now I must accept that this may not be true. There may be a whole other level of suckitude we failed to explore before. I’m feeling sick

and here it goes
Duhon shooting 5-6 FGs and 8 Assists. Just what we need…Duhon to turn it around and try to justify his minutes while Hill and Douglas rack up DNP-CDs.
Is it wrong to root against our own PG?
