knicks
its obvious whats wrong with the team, the veterans al and lee and nate when he komes back are in reality playing for free agency, al shoots everytime he gets the ball doesnt even try to pass to his teamates or find the open player, lee look at his stat line 9-20 18 points and 7 rebounds, and this guy wanted 10mil a year he kant even defend, as a matter of fact the fall of the knicks kan be attached to lee as he hasnt shot well often and his rebounding numbers beside that one game wen he had 18. dantoni has to realize he kant be friends with everyone and at sum point he has to come to grip with the fact that the only real starters on his team are Douglas*, Hughes, Gallo, Hill*, and Darko. Duhon kan start but nate and douglas must rotate to keep him fresh bkuz he’ll keep the turnovers down but isnt an offensive weapon. hughes up to this point is looking like a class act honestly he looks like he wants to win, Gallo of kourse is the future and it looks bright for him he just needs to hit the weight room he’d be a force if he kould get through defends easier, Hill actually showed the defensive presence youd like to see from a power forward but he too will have to hit the weights hard this summer but he kould very well be great, and darko well hes not very good but hes better than lee and thats the truth. lee as good as he is for finding rebounds jus isnt goin to ever get it down kuz he intimidates no one lol bogut worked him constantly, Bogut a f*****n bust of a #1 pick. I love the knicks til i die but dantoni has to realize playing lee at the 5 or even having him start is useless hes not an enigma anymore other teams realize his strengths and exploit his weaknesses. as for nate the knicks should get rid of him and chandler in a package for rubio immediately when the season is either half way done or done because walsh kould have gotten rubio when the wizards wanted chandler but thought highly of him to keep him lol chandler sucks bekuz his natural position is kurrently filled by a star in waiting making him expendible. two trades the knicks should make would be getting rubio from minnesota as him and gallo would reignite the garden and getting rid of jeffries and curry bekuz their both a waste of space and money. then and only then would ny be a place players of better caliber would be willing to play.
p.s: i think highly of rubio just as i thought highly of jennings and even tho jennings worked rubio, jennings actually fits both the bucks and knicks systems but rubio will work to perfection in DA system bekuz it revolves around the point gaurd which rubio is naturally making him ideal bekuz duhon is good as a backup but he isnt a starter nor should he be
I hate every "Knick" not named Danilo Gallinari

Sorry ass Knicks
It is just so sad to watch…da Knicks look like 2 me the wurst team in all of sports. Whut is up wit Dantoni? I dont think he is a rebuild-type coach…I think he’s made 2 coach superstars..and it seems he has no backbone..I think Dantoni’s teams need a leader on the floor because we have none on the bench. Half the guys on our team look like my friends in line 4 Welfare with a job alreadee..jus cashin checks! Jeffries…maybe wurse than Jerome James….Curry..dat fata**….how long does it take 2 get in bball shape? None of these Dantoni fault but Walsh and Mikey gotta sit these guys and accept the past failures. How much Knicks practice is devoted to defense? Any? Who r we drafting? U guys like Danilari? U would..dis guy couldnt make any Van Gundy Knicks team..he’s da new Peja Stojakovic..whoopy doo…get real knicks fans….we passed on eric gordon and brook lopez last year..dis year we pass on brandon Jennings..we cant win a championship..even a playoff series wit a bunch of skinny Euro softbodies! Real coaches win with whut ya got..and take players that can be accountable and survive in the league (Riley, P. Jackson, Larry Brown). Look at the Heat..we cant call them a nemesis anymo…they had 1 year like our past 8…they use draft picks on guys that help immediately! Hello! U play to win the game! Who r the knicks even gonna get in 2010? Im prayin every day 4 Lebron…but it dont look good…so now who we gonna get..old as Steve Nash? Watch how at end of year we get Amare Stoudemire+Steve nash..we make the playoffs 2 yrs..Nash retires..and we stink again! We have the power knicks fans..send emails I am! Seein LJ and OakTree on Friday reminded me players use 2 care about NY on their chest! Dantoni at least needs 2 get 2 that point. If we gotta bench Al Harrington(probably our best offensive weapon) to get the point across..do it! If guys gotta get cut..do it! Teams r not biting on any of our free agents..because they’re cursed jus lyke our franchise! We cant play with the Pacers, people! The season is over! Did anybody see opening night against da Heat? It looked like the team didnt care about the start of the season…even the Clippers have hope at season’s beginning…not us! Donnie Walsh neva impressed me @ Indiana..and I think he got players playin harder because Bird wuz their coach! We need 2 hire Jeff Van Gundy as a consultant or 2 replace Walsh altogether…
Smoke Marijuana..hey its betta than crack!
ok im as mad as the next one
but have yall cats ever heard of paragraphs or indentations…good lord

Duhon needs to sit
really, this guys shouldn’t even be playing 20 minutes.
Toney Douglas at least showed that him vs. Brandon Jennings may even be a wash, I think Douglas has the chance to be a very good PG.
Al Harrington sucks.
Chandler needs to cut the crap, needs to take the ball to the rack more
None of these other guys are workling well.
Douglas
Hughes
Gallo
Lee
Jordan Hill or Darko
There. Everyone wanna give they starting lineups, so bam. I even got paragraphs and everything.
Gonna be a long season, at least let the youngins play. Fuckin Al Harrington really needs to go, tired of his shit.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad
Crawford is as far away from the Knicks as possible.
I hate saying that, cuz Crawford was one of my favorite Knicks in a while, but the “bring the ball up and chuck it up” from 3 act got tired a LOONG time ago.
I actually think Larry Hughes is better cuz he decides to man up on defense every now and then, while Crawford’s defense consisted of a large band aid on his shoulder.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i disagree
at least crawford would push the tempo. hughes and duhon jog it up or walk it up. always going quarter-speed. it is infuriating and crawford was my guy. i was hoping we could keep jamal. now, my only hope is that we can dump everyone. EVERYONE.
but keep gallinari and lee. everyone else- not worth my time.
twitter.com/aighttho
http://howmuchyouthink.tumblr.com/
Nate too?
Toney Douglas too?
I know you won’t like it, but Jordan Hill seems like there’s something there, so dump him too?
I don’t think the white boys are the only good part of the team.
Tho definitely, Lee and Gallo are the best parts of the team right now. Considering they should be role players (at this point for Gallo, I think he can be a strong second option in the future—-note to Donnie, we may not need TWO max players, one + some support would be nice)
I guess that’s my point on Jamal. Really, he was one of my favorite players. Its just his whole act was tired. He tried to be a volume shooter who, unlike guys like Kobe or Michael Redd….just really isn’t consistent enough to do that.
He could push the ball up, he probably would make the Pringles offense work a lot better (who the hell did they trade him for anyway? I lost track…).
Yea, out of all the moves they’ve made, getting rid of Jamal may have been the only one that I would think a bit longer before I traded him.
But if they get a 2-Guard who can defend and maybe hit some shots on a consistent basis…it will be better off.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wouldnt
include lee and defensive in the same sentence…bogut was beating him up the floor consistently.

I did?
I didn’t even say in “Lee’s defense”….
No doubt. I mean when Andrew Bogut is burning you up the court, you got problems.
But I think we’ve all knew for a long time that Lee can’t defend.

ok ok
i’m just saying. i would trade everyone. except them.
i still got love for toney, nate, wilson and i think about hill sometimes. pause, pause, pause, and no homo. landry’s on my good side too. but i ahted the harrington deal from the beginning.
twitter.com/aighttho
http://howmuchyouthink.tumblr.com/
also
i hated the duhon deal immediately. i begged no one and everyone in the world for the knicks to pick brandon jennings. i hated the hughes deal because i liked tim thomas on this team. i even hated the signing of donnie walsh.
but i like lee. and i like gallinari. and i’m frustrated beyond belief. i can’t even formulate sentenkes klearly.
twitter.com/aighttho
http://howmuchyouthink.tumblr.com/
I think if they at least signed
Sessions, the Hill over Jennings draft would make some sense.
Tho I would say, Toney Douglas really isn’t all that much less of a prospect than Jennings.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
disagree
jennings has got the goods. he’s not there yet. but he is three or four years younger than toney right now. douglas is the bigger tougher guy. i like them both a ton. but i think jennings is more of a star-caliber player.
twitter.com/aighttho
http://howmuchyouthink.tumblr.com/
forgot about the age thing....
I knew Jennings was young, but I forgot TD is 23.
Hopefully not only Jordan Hill shows more (I think they have something there) but they find a PG, cuz the fact they passed on Jennings could haunt them (like many 1st rounders that went after the Knicks pick who’ve become stars..)
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fair enough...
and yea, i looked up and it was Harrington.
Jamal’s contract was up at the end of this season anyway right?
Him and Harrington are basically the same player, yet Jamal can actually bring the ball up and play PG if needed (like they need now).
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
umm
bench/trade/cut Duhon as he is just a horrible point guard. If he is supposed to be the orchestrator on offense why is he always dribbling around the 3 pt line for 15 seconds. one of the many reasons why knicks always off to a bad start
Jeffries needs his playing time cut for Hill and Landry. I dont care that Jeffries can hit 3’s nows. His defense is overrated and is clueless out there majority of the time. Id rather lose with people working their butt off then players who are just out there doing motions.
Starters:
Toney
chandler (drive to basket please)
gallo
hill
lee
offthebench:
al
hughes
landry
nate
darko
just bench/get rid of asap:
duhon
jeffries
duhon
why is everyone so quick to wanna bench/cut duhon? dude’s had a couple of bad games but cmon now it’s so early in the season. you gotta believe that he gives us a better chance to win than a rookie like TD who never really played the point in college. duhon’s got a 3:1 assist to TO ratio at this point. I say stop panicking and let him roll for another couple of weeks or so. Dude obviously has potential, just take a deep breath and let everything coagulate…
normal I'd agree with you on teh patient thing...
but Duhon just would help the team more off the bench
It wasn’t just the Bucks game, Duhon just flat out isn’t a starter. Douglas may not be either at this point, but I really don’t think the idea that he would be a little more aggressive out there as far as scoring would be a bad thing.
Duhon’s turnorver’s aren’t the problem. Its everything else that he can’t or doesn’t want to do.
Duhon might even have a future on the team as a rotational PG or something like that. But starting, even now, is just no.
DO WHAT JERRY HAIRSTON DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't think this is snap judgement
duhon has been slow since the middle of last season. he can’t finish near the hoop. doesn’t push the tempo. and is a weak-minded leader. all that adds up to this guy being the antithesis do a d’antoni pg. he’d be a decent goran dragic.

Its a throw away season
There are too many distractions for this team. Everybody knows whats going on but no ones wants to admit it…THIS SEASON IS A THROW AWAY!
The Knicks roster is going to look completely new next year. We have to get two of the big players available during the 2010 Free agency. DON’T SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON THE KING!!!
He won’t be enough with the crew that is coming back next year.
Who’s contract is up after the 2009 season?
what are you shot?
Everyone wants to make the argument that lebron wont help and wont want to come because the players on the knicks suck. But theres only going to be about 5 players from this roster still on the team next year. The whole plan is to get Lebron and then build a new team around him, which would probably include big time players who want to come and win with Lebron for years to come.

call me crazy
but if we get one superstar, another one is right around the corner. add two superstars to the mix the way the celtics did, and we could immediately contend. it’s not far fetched. the orlando magic got it done way back when the way we are attempting to do it now.
they got grant hilla nd tracy mcgrady. those two were absolutely on top of the league. but tragedy struck. nevertheless…. it’s possible. just not plausible.
right now all i want is an in-season trade to dump a bunch of these knuckleheads like harrington, huhes and duhon. not to mention curry and jeffries.

sorry bout those sentences
i was pretty pissed off at wat i saw, all of this kouldve been avoided had they signed sessions or drafted jennings or traded wilson for that 5th pick. i mean we saw what the problem was when they broke down last year and that was a point gaurd. but the knicks still didnt get anyone
also
as far is lee is concerned, i hope they dont resign him and he goes to another team and then we’ll see how good he really is. prolly the next player to get a big contract and then 2 years later they start sayin worse contract signing for the team he plays for….
Time to Upgrade NOW!!!
The Knicks are in desperate need of PG/SG help. Nate’s hurt. Duhon is OK in some games but is clearly not consistent enough to be THE man (Over indulgence in NYC night life man be the culprit, but that’s just speculation). Passing on Sessions was at least understandable for salary cap reasons. Passing on Jennings was also understandable to a certain degree for his immaturity, inexperience, and crappy numbers in Europe, making him too risky. Passing on JWill, Jamaal Tinsley, AND AI as free agents in the preseason for minimal 1 yr contracts which would not affect their 2010 plans is beyond me.
Perhaps Walsh/D"Antoni overestimated how good Toney Douglas would be based upon preseason games and didn’t want to undermine his development. When are people going to learn that PRESEASON GAMES ARE MEANINGLESS!!! The pressure and urgency of season games along with more intense defense from the competition from actual NBA players is lacking in the preseason. For God’s sake, even Jeffries and Tskitishvili looked good in the preseason!!! Walsh may have experience but he’s clearly not as clever as he thinks he is.
Getting back to the Knicks needing PG/SG help…Jamaal Tinsley is still a free agent and AI is unhappy in Memphis. Both can still play. The Knicks have an open roster spot and an opportunity to improve their team NOW and not have to wait till the summer of 2010. Considering the embarassingly unacceptable 1-6 start, and Nate’s injury (among other things) it’s time for the Knicks to bust a move. Please don’t make the many Knicks fans suffer unnecessarily much longer. We’re waiting…
BTW, I don’t like D’Antoni’s preference to use a rotation of only a limited number of players. It wears players out over the course of the season and doesn’t give bench players adequate time to get comfortable enough with the system.
There. I said my peace.
BTW
D’Antoni’s system worked well in Phoenix because he had Amare and Nash, who are exceptional players. There’s no one like them on the Knicks, except maybe DLee.
honestly
the only thing that has me down right now is the fact we dont have our pick. Which is not the fault of those involved in the day to day decisions now anyway.
Rebuilding sucks. Everyone knows it.
I still expect this team to get better as the season goes on. I expect some trades and hopefully some growth.
Lee has been a huge dissapointment, while Hughes has been a bright spot. I also think that by the end of the season Darko will be starting… I like the way the team looks with him on the floor.
They are starting out slower then I thought… but its a long season. Im not done with them yet.
duhon really sucks
just to add. Getting over him real quick.
*sigh* its time
Didn’t think I would ever say this again, but this team could really use allen iverson. Want a point guard who pushes the tempo, can finish at the rim, plays defense, gets other guys involved, and on top of all that, is hungry to prove his worth??? Pull AI out of that swamp in Memphis and put him back on the big stage. I’ve lived in philly my whole life and AI is the answer for this bunch. Never liked duhon, he’s a backup at best. nate is a spark off the bunch, and thats it, plus probably won’t be around next year, and while AI might stunt Toney D’s development, he could also teach him a few things as toney becomes acclimated to the league.
Iverson is cheap, which seems to be donnie and mike’s big thing, and if you don’t like him, you can dump him at the end of the year. But he is a big game player and can be the go to play maker when the clock is winding down. And in an offense like this?? It’s practically designed for AI at this stage in his career. Drive, defense collapses, and dish to Gallo. Pick and roll with lee. Harassing guards up front with TD or hughes. I dont see any point in not trying this.
Didn’t want to rant, and i know it’s only been 7 games, but lord NY doesn’t want to be a laughing stock. Duhon and harrington are not leaders on or off the floor despite their good-natured and much appreciated efforts, and i think AI would be grateful to get a starting gig in basketball’s mecca. He’d want to work to show he deserved it.
AI has something to prove? Perfect, so does this entire Knicks franchise. Make the call Donnie, and send jeffries and duhon packing.
knicks to watch ideally
pg – iverson
sg – hughes
TD backing up either one
sf – gallo
pf – lee
chandler backing up either one
c – Hill or Darko timeshare for now, with hill winning out by season’s end
this is easily a done deal if donnie and mike want it to happen
I never thought I'd agree with that
But I actually do. Looking at this team, I think they would be a lot better with Iverson. But there’s no long term in that, so I’d rather see Douglas get a lot of minutes. I believe it’s possible that Toney’s defense can really affect a game, and if he’s offensively good enough to feed the hot hand and score himself when he needs to, I think he’ll be a guy that helps them win. Jennings can obviously score and dish, but with guys like that it takes a few years whether they are going to be real team leaders out there. So we’ll see.
It seems all of their opponents this year have had actual centers, and at this point they know to attack inside. It seems like there’s some kind of disgruntlement/freezeout/split going on. It could just be that they were all pretty optimistic coming into the season and now they are realizing they just don’t have enough and it’s depressing.
All I know is that, as a fan, I want to see more Gallo and TD. If they’re going to lose anyway, why not? But I don’t think they’ll lose anyway. Winning is great and of course, the most important thing to do. But before you win, you have to figure out a way to put pressure on your opponent. Figure out something you can do that they can’t stop. Figure out how to stop them from doing what they want to do. And it’s really about utilizing the special talents of your players. TD’s special talent is defense – put him on the opposing team’s best guard. Gallo can shoot a high percentage from long range and create. Get him the ball. Then, when other teams make adjustments, it opens things up for you. Duhon is not a terrible player, and Lee is pretty good, but a Duhon / Lee pick and roll is a good thing to be able to do, but it’s not nearly enough. Duhon as a point guard should recognize what he’s got in Gallo and make use of it, but he doesn’t seem interested or able to do that.
I don’t know what’s going on with this team inside the locker room, but I do know that fans and LeBron know that it’s a much better show with TD and Gallo on the floor.
this may be the only opportunity to get rid of jeffries/curry
anybody know the cap consequences and issues on what a trade that gets the knicks AI and frees them of Jeffries’ salary?
by John Starks Left Hand on Nov 8, 2009 6:46 PM EST up reply actions
jeffries has two years left on his contract, and AI is free after this year
so we eliminate one of the contracts that’s in the way for summer 2010. i dont know totals though.
sry jj, but you suck in this system
I agree with trading Lee...
he might be the only one of value to get SOMETHING back at the deadline.
Nate NO. THey need to keep Nate. He’ll be a nice scoring option as one of the better 6th men in the league (that sounded like it needed a PAUSE).

hard to say
I think there are a few good points made here, but there are just as many ridiculous ones. Of course its beyond frustrating to see our 1-6 record and looking like we have yet to produce a game with 100% effort for the full 48. Sure, D’Antoni might need to start crackin heads. Sure, we would benefit from moving a few guys. But stop with the ‘blow everything up’ mentality guys. No one said this was gonna be easy. But its the 2nd week and things haven’t clicked. We are running a team out there with a backup PG (which was the consensus when he signed) who plays as a solid backup. We are running a team with a bunch of expiring guys who (in a way are rightfully) are playing pretty selfish. David Lee is NOT one of the problem guys. Bitch all you want about his D and whatever…but NY has him playing ridiculously out of position. Who else grabs rebounds other than him?! The guy is doin as much as he can. Maybe scaling back our “Shock & Awe” 3-hoisting tactic would help. D’Antoni’s system relies on a driving PG. We aren’t driving. When we do, the teams know we won’t finish, so they wait on the kickout.
Hey, I don’t know what is talked behind the scenes, but its clear the player contracts have an effect. Lee and Nate have ‘incentives’ for the playoffs, Gallo, TD and Hill are under rookie contracts, so NY has to find a way to incentivize the remainders into driving the lane playing for a purpose.
But it’s still early. Push the panic button when we are closer the the All-Star game. Don’t start with all this 7 games in. You guys know better.
