The case for Jordan Hill
Jordan Hill deserves to play more. Part of me wants him to play more because he's was our 8th pick and he should. Part of me wants him to play more because I'm sick of seeing Jared Jeffries running around. And part of me thinks it's fun to watch his hair flop around. But the real reason is that given minutes, he produces.
Let's look at the stats.
I took a look at the wonderful Basketball Reference for the Knicks and specifically, the per 36 minutes statistics.
Let's look at where Jordan would get and where he would rate on the team if he played 36 minutes.
Field Goal % - .515 (2nd)
Offensive Rebounds - 5 (1st)
Total Rebounds - 9.9 (2nd)
Steals - 2.3 (1st)
Blocks - 2.7 (1st)
Points - 17.1 (6th)
Fouls (7.7) ouch!
If Jordan got the burn, he could actually approach those numbers and warrant his high draft pick. The same story plays out when we look at the Advanced Statistics
Player Efficiency Rating (PER) - 2nd
Total Rebound % - 2nd (
Offensive Rebound % - 1st
Steal %- 1st
Block % - 1st
Defensive Rating - 1st
Granted, these numbers are a bit skewed since Jordan has mainly played in garbage time, against "lesser" players. But then again, why not have him as a 6th/7th man on the team and let him continue to beat up on these lesser players. He would gain confidence, and eventually start earning time.
What do you all think?

i agree
but you know what. this season is gone. already.
jordan is not prepared. foul woes make the projections impossible to achieve. thusly moot.
give him time to spin and succeed. dont break him by overexposure. ishe really gonna lead the lague in steals and blocks?
just let the vets get theirnext contract and try not tokill the rookie spirits nor inflate their egos.
good luck mike.

He'll get more time as the season goes on.
The one thing I’d think we all can notice is there is something there. Jordan Hill is not a POS bust. He’s not even Renaldo Balkman.
Jordan Hill has NBA starter potential. Maybe not star, but starter potential.
His playing time has to increase over time.
I ain’t saying he’s Greg Oden, but Oden was in foul trouble a lot his rookie year, mainly cuz he’s raw.
Hill is raw, but very talented.
"It ain't over till its over"---
Look, this should be our lineup
Hill, Lee, Gallinari, Duhon, Toney.
Nate and Harrington off the bench.
Chandler to the NBDL, or trade him.
If Toney ever shows he can pass, Duhon can be replaced with Hughes, who should be on a very short leash.
The most effective lineups for the team right now are:
Duhon-Hughes-Gallinari-Harrington-Lee
Duhon-Hughes-Gallinari-Hill-Lee
There are no stats for any lineups without Duhon since he plays so much.
I dunno
JH has some offensive game, but he seems a bit undersized still to really bang with most NBA centers. He is, however, pretty fearless, and has no problem getting his shot off. Best case scenario he turns into a Hakim Warrick type player.

if he really busts his ass
marcus camby is probably a great comparison for him. hopefully he is striving for perfection.

Hill Should Start!
If we package Hill at center with Lee and the new “rebounding” Gallinari, the Kncks are not so small anymore. If he gets into foul trouble you have Jefferys off the bench. It would allow help for Lee if he has to guard people like Dwight Howard or Bynum. And it would provide better offense than when Jefferys in the game. Most important the inside game would draw more fouls than when Chandler is in the game. I loved Chandler last year. He would drive to the basket more. Now he just settles for as little contact as possible and chucks up jumpshots all game. It is strange Chandler doesn’t get punished like Nate for shooting too much. D’Antoni either likes it or he is not the coach I thought he was.
everyone dogs on jeffries playing time....
it should be obvoius that jj is only getting playing time so taht we can at least show teams some type of film of what he can(or cant lol) do… he is gone this season GUARANTEED. thats why the report “hill knows his time will come”.. even he realizes this.. so lets be patient.. and hope that some team wants to include jj in a deal w/ the knicks.
btw.. i think im starting to go for this harrington for t thomas deal.. do it walsh
Not one team would see Jeffries play and think he could help. There’s no point in playing him. Not only that, but teams often trade for guys who hadn’t played in a while. For example, when the Knicks traded for Harrington.
sorta
if girafferies contract was half of what it is now. plenty of playoff teams would consider trading some dumpy guy for jared.
i imagine the spurs or the suns wanting him to guard chris paul for 20-25 minutes a game. especially come playoff time.
he sucks. hardbody. just sayin

Jordan
still fades away too much. I know that was his bread and butter move, but I’d like to see him go up strong more often. I’ve been impressed with him in the few minutes he’s gotten though. He also has a goo attitude it seems.
"But when he saw it, he just put his hands up and they couldn’t give it to him. It just fell to the ground, I-I don’t, you know … So, that showed me he had great experience..." - Jeff Van Gundy

"jordan still fades away too much"
just sounds funny to me.
but you’re right. the thing is, he can’t hang with the big boys just yet. but there is no reason to believe that he won’t get there. if he continues to work hard. and doesn’t get down on himself for any reason… d’antoni will know when it’s time to plug him in for good.
