"A comprehensive agreement was made this afternoon between the New York Knicks and Stephon Marbury," the Knicks said in a statement. "Under its terms, the grievance has been resolved and the Knicks have requested waivers on Stephon. No additional terms will be disclosed."
Marbury is now eligible to play in the playoffs for another team because his release from New York comes before the league's Sunday deadline.
The New York Times first reported on its Web site Tuesday afternoon that "all indications were that the two sides had reached agreement on a contract buyout that will free [Marbury] to join another franchise for the stretch run."
There were immediate indications that Marbury will end up in Boston, as has long been anticipated, although he first must clear waivers. That will likely happen Friday if Marbury's release is made official Wednesday.

I hope to God he goes to Boston
“Hey guys, look! It’s cancer! Should we buy it?!”
Yes, Boston, you should buy it.

Thought of a good parallel
Anyone ever seen “Killer Klowns from Outer Space?”
It’s like that one scene where they voluntarily enter the Circus Tent-shaped space ship, only to be murdered, obviously.
Or, if you’re normal:
The scene in the beginning of “The Blob” where the old homeless guy gets curious.

Boston is relaying on their “strong team culture”, Pistons said basically the same time about AI. It’s eerie how similar the situation will be, Outspoken defensive big man(Sheed, KG) and lazy on defense one and one shooters(AI, Marbury) don’t mix. Maybe Marbury and KG will reclaim their Wolves duo days, I doubt it.
the AI thing is totally different
AI was supposed to replace a proven leader and scorer (Billups) and lead the Pistons to the promised land. uh, yeah, no chance of that. good thing they only wanted AI for cap relief.
marbury, meanwhile, is going to replace…tony allen? i think he upgrades their bench. don’t get me wrong, i hope he goes psycho and submarines the Celts, but i think he’s actually a pretty good fit there and could be a contributor.

i think you guys are looking at this the wrong way
if stephon catapults the celtics, the cavs don’t stand as much of a chance to beat them, and thusly do not stand as much a chance to win the title. if the cavs do not win the title, lebron is more likely to opt out.
i hate the celtics too much
to think of these things.

i'll leave this alone after this...
but i feel the need to defend donnie basketball here.
there is a lot of sentiment going around with people sort of upset that walsh didn’t just hold on to marbury and waive him after the playoff deadline. but i have to believe that if walsh did that, marbury would have had a reason to get on his soapbox and stake his claim. and he would have been right – to a degree.
suppose walsh screwed marbury that way. the players in the league would take notice. and it’s not a good thing to let the players see you be a total dick, and then turn around and try to recruit them. so you gotta play some social politics here. marbury gets his money whether you’re the bad guy or not. might as well not be the bad guys.
