Marbury to Celtics

As reported by the times

Marbury is definitely going to the Celtics, as we all suspected. The Times is reporting that he'll sign for the veteran's minimum (1.3 mil, I think). Quoth the Times:

"Marbury is scheduled to meet with reporters in Boston on Friday morning and be in uniform Friday night when the Celtics host the Indiana Pacers."

Definitely the best quote of the short article is:

"An elite player in his prime, Marbury has not always been considered a positive influence on the teams he has played for."

This guy is a douchebag. Thoughts, gentlemen?

i'm happy for steph

the celtics needed someone who was a reasonable perimeter player. tony allen sucked worse than chris bosh. it’ll take him a bit to make an impact. but once he does you’ll know it. i imagine it will be brilliance offset by mind-numbing blankness. the celtics seem stronger to me.

also i touched on it earlier, but i think it was the right move by donnie basketball. it hurts your chances of recruiting players if you straight dog this guy and don’t release him. other players would absolutely have seen that and probably considered that a fairly low blow.

good luck steph. and good luck boston (you’re gonna need it).

agreed

that it was probably the sportsmanlike thing for donnie to do. i just wish it could’ve been done in, like, july.

Yeah

But I understand Donnie holding off since Marbury sounds like he really wasn’t willing to go below a nearly full buyout. DW (DARKWING DUCK HOLY SHIT WTF HAS DRAKE MALLARD BEEN SEEN IN THE SAME ROOM AS WALSH OMG) had no practical reason to buy him out on Stephon’s terms.
