grumpy gus and draft grumblings

http://thebiglead.com/?p=12503

so gus johnson was in memphis and he apparently not only escalates his vocal excitement as games progress but as meals do as well.  it probably climaxed with, "you are a restauranteur...and you make buckets...of disgusting ribs!!!" or something like that.

oh and by the way, if you play the espn mock draft lottery, the knicks end up with stephen curry 99.2% of the time, i think...assuming this is true, how do we feel about that?  in general i think the knicks need to get a big combo guard who can score, but maybe re-sign lee and draft curry to replace robinson?  we know lebron loves curry...

cringing at the thought of having stephen curry

he’s only slightly better than jj reddick. a complete waste of salary cap space.

agreed

so much talent in this draft. curry would be a terrible mistake.

nah

he’s more like Mike Bibby. Reddick has no handle, and can’t finish around the rim. Curry can use both hands, and while he is skinny, he’s far more agile than JJ….not to mention passes far b etter than JJ.

Not saying we should draft him, or we shouldnt. Jus sayin, don’t compare him to reddick just because theyre high scoring 3 pt shooters.

would you prefer a ty lawson

or perhaps a jrue holiday?

lawson might be a reach, given the seeding.

i think typically the early-mid-first round picks that work are guards and smaller forwards, even though the knicks might want a big man. when you look it at like that, the pickings are somewhat slim.

Anyway, you should check out the movie "Black and White," which actually stars Allan Houston. It’s not a comedy, but rather a really serious and emotional movie. - Wilson Chandler

I wouldn't hate it if we took Lawson.

We need a Point guard for the future, he could be it. We’d also have to look at Curry (obviously), Holliday, Jennings if he falls, and Jonny Flynn if he plays well enough in the tournament.

Crapshoot.

Forgot about Maynor

He’s gotta look good in the tournament too.

Draftexpress has us taking Tyreke Evans. Thoughts?

P.S.

Quoth Draftexpress: “Best Case: Larry Hughes. Worst Case: Willie Green.”

….BEST CASE?!

You're doomed!

Doomed, I tell you!!!

"You remember the first time you picked up a basketball video game and you had no idea how to run plays, so you just gave the ball to your shooter and you ran around the court aimlessly until a defender was far enough away and then you jacked up a shot? THAT IS LARRY HUGHES!"

that prompted me to look at a bunch of their best/worst cases

i was trying to find ones where they severely fucked up. what’s weird is that they generally cast a fairly wide net to make sure they don’t fuck up, listing one good and one terrible player. so the fact that they see larry hughes as the ceiling is a) weird for draftexpress, normally they’re like best case, john stockton, worst case, jamison brewer, and b) weird for tyreke evans, who, if you’ve seen him ball, is the truth, and will definitely be better than larry hughes. although i can see the similarity in their respective games, but tyreke won’t shoot as much and is probably a better shooter, too.
also, i actually laughed out loud reading mardy collins’: “best case, a rich man’s marko jaric, worst case, jeryl sasser.” not sure why that’s so funny, but it is.

case in point

Marreese Speights: best case, al jefferson, worst case, jackie butler. i wish draftexpress would give themselves a little more margin for error, in case marreese speights is better than a franchise player or worse than a morbidly obese knicks ten-day signee.

not to keep responding to myself

but it should be noted that according to draftexpress, cheick samb literally does not have a worst case scenario.

Best Case: Mikki Moore. Worst Case: Cheick Samb.

grimey

i feel like in the last couple months theyve turned up the strictness of their comparisons. like unless ur a top 3 pick, theyre gonna be mad pessimistic on that site.

(which is better than being too optimistic, like draftnet which had the best case for deshawn stevenson has michael jordan lololol)

Johnny Flynn

Would be great. Tyreke Evans would be better if he;s available. But you can’t tell be that Flynn isn’t a passing version of Nate.

If Nate is gone, then Flynn would be a perfect future PG. Otherwise, Tyreke Evans needs to be a Knick. The guys is 6"5+ and is a true PG who can get his own shot and make it.

To me, Evans is more like OJ Mayo with more of PG’s mentality. And oh yea, the guy’s a lockdown defender. He’d be perfect to pair with Nate cuz he’s tall enough to guard taller guards (??)

No frickin way Stephen Curry

Guy is gonna be a great 3pt shooter like his dad, but c’mon he’s not even gonna be a lottery pick.

Id like to campaign right now for Tyreke Evans. Is he as good as Derrick Rose? Well D-Rose wasn’t really the #1 overall untill the tourney ended and also the offseason workouts. Evans isn’t thought of as good, but he has showed he can be a floor general PG, play great D, score 10x better than Rose and also he is 6"5!!!!!!

Tyreke Evans will probably get drafted in the Top 3 after the tourney and offseason tho. But with any luck either the Knicks get a Top 3 pick (not likely) or Evans somehow drops. Hopefully as with recent years a Top 5 team is one of the teams lower in the lottery with any luck that’s the Knicks.
