You got some time before any glimmer of hope.
Next year is gonna be the same stuff. This offseason there are only a few things Knicks fans can hope for. The main thing is gonna be NateRob and David Lee’s future with the Knicks. Personally I think that as the Knicks 2 best players, you have to keep them. You can’t sign a whole team in 2010 so you need to keep as many young guys as you can. I think the idea of getting 2 superstars is a little far fetched, so I think they should sign D-lee and Nate for what the asking price should be, and then worry about grabbing one of the available FA’s.
The next thing would be getting rid of eddy Curry. He seems like the last headache from Isiah’s era that is still on the team. There is really nothing they can get in return cuz he hasn’t played at all. It may also required them to trade Lee or Robinson along with him or maybe the draft pick to get the other team to take him. I don’t think any of those is logical, but you never know. I can’t see how Eddy is badly affecting the team other than taking up space literally and the cap.
The Knicks also have a draft pick, a 1st rounder only again, and it will be a lottery pick and hopefulyl a top 10 pick again. While I think the jury is still out of Gallo, whether or not they should have went with a guy like Brook Lopez , Eric Gordon, Bayless or a few other rooks who have been more productive, can be put into consideration. But like last year, this draft at first seemd to lack any stars, but after watching the tourney you can tell its probably gonna be deep again.
Personally, the perfect Knicks offseason would be first to sign nate Rob and D-Lee to reasonable contracts. Then, somehow they get rid of Curry for a future 2nd round pick. Then for the draft pick I hope that somehow either by falling in the draft or by their pick being pretty high, that they land Tyreke Evans. I guess as a 4th prayer, maybe Ill gallo gets healed and has bulked up in the offseason and can then play a whole lot more.
As far as 2010
I think that all this talk of a big superstar will not come about either. I think Lebron and Dwayne Wade will just stay put. They both seem to love where they are, and while Wade seems like more of an option right now, I think that he loves Miami a whole lot more than he could ever love NY.
And Bosh seems like plan C, but I don’t really like bosh. Yea he puts up nice numbers and seems liek a good guy, he just doesn’t seem that much different than Zach Randolph fo me minus the stupidity.
I think the Knicks best option is to build. Who cares about the FA superstar, that’s a pipe dream. How about the Knicks finally get lucky in the draft and take a guy like Evans who seems like he has Brandon Roy type upside.
What if the Knicks get the #1 overall? Yea it would take a lot, but considering teams like the Bulls and Rockets a few years ago got it, its not out of the question.
Should they grab Blake Griffen? I absolutely hate Blake Griffen. Yea, he’s big and can jump and rebound. But what else? good defense, good rebounder, fine. Fast and athletic, he just doesn’t seem to be all that.
If the Knicks get the #1, I think they have to make it 2 straight Memphis guards going #1 overall. Tyreke Evans just seems like a perfect fit for the Knicks and may develop into the Knicks own superstar.
