Rumor: Stephen Curry got a promise?

Via TKB, there's some chatter that Stephen Curry may have chosen to enter the draft because he got a pinky swear from Donnie Walsh.

We've received word that there could be truth to this from inside sources claiming that Curry chose to put his name into the draft this year based on the Knicks assuring Curry that they would use their lottery selection to draft him.

Obviously a lot could happen between now and the draft. The Knicks could always win the lottery (they're not using a top 3 pick on him) or trade their pick.

There's already been some talk around here about the possibility of Curry as a Knick, but this will likely raise hell. The fit does make some sense: Mike D'Antoni loves shooters and Curry can flat-out bomb. I'm not totally against the idea, either, since the guy's been proven to have some balls and the ability to lead a team. That said, rumors from "inside sources" that surface in early May should be taken with an entire shaker of salt. I have trouble believing that Knick management would be making any legitimate promises before lottery day. Discuss, though. Curry's a polarizing prospect, and I'd love to hear what people with more expertise in college ball have to say. Where do we rank Stephen Curry amongst other guard prospects?
