Right now, they reportedly prefer Spanish PG Ricky Rubio at No. 1 over OU’s terminator Blake Griffin. No matter what people say about the mediocre track record of big men taken at the top of the draft board, make no mistake about Griffin - he’s going to be an all-star multiple times over.
Realistically, the Knicks won’t have to worry about making the choice between these two guys. But the notion that they’d pass up a guy who has proven to be a blend between Amar’e Stoudemire and Karl Malone for someone who is rumored to be another Pistol Pete is downright stupid.

Really?
Griffen’s only shot is the dunk.
Malone is still money from 15-20, and Amare is pretty good at that outside shot too. Plus Amare is a great FT shooter, Griffen sucks.
I really don’t think he’s going to be much. Yea he looks like a terminator and is extremely athletic and plays hard every play, but what exactly does he do other than dunk?
He isn’t as big as Dwight Howard either, so what exactly are you getting…
He may develop that shot, he may be able to eventually work on his FT shooting, but as it stands right now he’s only a guy who can dunk and rebound. The Knicks have David Lee to do that.
if the knicks land #1
i’d take rubio in a heartbeat
Blake Griffen is presposterously good at finishing
around the rim for a guy his size.
How about if we get the number one pick, we don’t have an argument about who to take.
We should all meet up and have a giant fucking party.
I think that would be more pertinent to the situation.

i'm still undecided on griffin
i don’t think he’s the type of guy to be a bust, but is he worth the #1 overall? only time will tell. this draft seems like the one where kenyon martin went #1 to me. i like k-mart and all, but as a franchise cornerstone…? then again if kenyon still had knees he would be a monster right now. so like i said who knows?
however, i can say with complete certainty that this article sucks. dude basically just says griffin > rubio with zero justification. whether he’s right or not really doesn’t matter.
(not hating on you seth, good looks on the article and plz find more draft stuff k thx)

i pass along articles because they’re noteworthy, not necessarily because i agree with them.

the fact
that they said he’s between amare and karl malone is the most preposterous thing i’ve read since going on nbadraft.net and reading Deshawn Stevensons NBA future comparison as MICHAEL JORDAN lol

Pistol Pete:
Career highlights and awards
* Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (1987)
* 2× USBWA College Player of the Year (1969, 1970)
* Naismith Award (1970)
* 2× All-NBA First Team (1976, 1977)
* 2× All-NBA Second Team (1973, 1978)
* NBA All-Rookie Team (1971)
* 5× NBA All-Star (1973, 1974, 1977-1979)
* NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team (1996)
* Utah Jazz #7 retired (1985)
* New Orleans Hornets #7 retired (2002)
I think bringing a Pistol Pete type player who could play with one of the big guns we get in 2010 would be the greatest thing ever.
to be fair
i think the pistol pete comparison stems at least 40% from the fact that Rubio has a big ol’ beak.

Yeah man, he looks a shitload like Pistol Pete.
Other than that, he just kind of reminds me of a Stockton 2.0 with a worse shot.
But he’s young. I’m just saying at some point in his NBA career he might lead
the league in assists and steals.
He plays Hard D pause.
