Lawson?

I've figured that the Knicks could really use a big point guard more than anything (no homo), but just today I've become a massive Lawson fan.

No independent revelation by me, but I just read two uberstatistical pieces on HoopsAnalyst and from Hollinger which rated Lawson out-of-this-world high.  DraftExpress also points out how he's statistically flawless.  He shoots ridiculously from three and has an unbelievable assist to turnover ratio.

I would be dubious of superior statistics if the player was from a poor conference or is too slow or weak but Lawson is not and is not.  So what's the holdup?

I presume it's his height, but his height is comparable to lots of good and great players, including Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Augustin, and Flynn.  Yes, Lawson has short arms, but he makes up for it with a short neck.  His standing reach is better than CP3's.

Plus, who has a more tabloid-headline-ready name than Ty Lawson.  After a gamewinning layup, it's "Ty Goes to the Runner".  After a fight, it's "Martial Lawson".  After a strong performance, it's "Awesome Lawson."

I wouldn't even mind using the #8 pick on him, but it would be a gift from the heavens if we could dump Jeffries and the 8 pick and trade down to pick Lawson.

I like Lawson But

Watching him threw his career he didn’t seem much of a 3 point shooter… Although his shot drops often I don’t think he could take those few steps back and make it rain.. I actually think Flynn would be a great fit. He has already proven that he can make it Rain from 3… Longer arms will allow him to defend a shot better also… I can’t say he’s the quicker guard cus Lawson is Flash Gordon out there.. I Do like the Idea of trading down and picking up a player that we would’ve already picked up at the 8 spot. Especially if we can dump those garbage salary’s…

i've always been pretty high on lawson

…but i think his stock is too low at this point to pull the trigger at #8. trade down, get whatever you can, and pick lawson at #15-20 if he’s the guy.

nah....

Id rather have Flynn, he’s a bit more athletic.

But I don’t want Flynn either.

If the Knicks were just out of the lottery, then fine. There realyl are better prospects in this draft especially picking at 8. Only Jordan Hill would make LESS sense IMO. Lawson really is just a faster version of Duhon.

I mean if the Knicks see something then I really wouldn’t hate it, still if there are guys like Holliday or Evans or Curry, Id rather go with them

i love Lawson but

i don’t think he’s a good fit for this offense. however, i think he’ll be a good pro for somebody.

Ewing with the step...YES! and the foul!
