Wilson Chander for #5 pick !?!?

www.nbadraft.net, under the "Draft Buzz" section, is saying the Knicks are offering Wilson Chandler for the #5 pick from the Wizards.  I hope this is some cruel joke, because that cant possibly be true.

From the site:

"The Knicks are trying to make a deal with Washington to move up to the 5th pick offering Wilson Chandler. New York is after a number of players that they don't feel they can get at their #8 pick including Curry, Ricky Rubio and Jordan Hill.

It's possible they will offer their pick in a deal or hold onto their pick and add the 5th pick along with their 8th pick. "

Why?

Why give up Chandler, he is not part of the problem.

I mean Id love to have the #5 AND #8, but not for CHandler. I know they can’t offer Lee or Robinson, which would seem perfect in either case (tho I think the reason the Wizards are trading is cuz of salary.

I bet something like this does happen tho, more than likely if Rubio slips. Id rather keep the #8, but Id much rather keep CHandler. So hopefulyl the Knicks are smart with this and keep Chandler and trade the #8 instead.

Unless they really feel that a guy like James Johnson, Earl Clark or Demar Derozan really are better options in the future for SF than CHandler?

Hold up!

What number pick do you think Wilson Chandler would be if he was thrown into this draft (already knowing what he can do in the NBA)? Other than Griffin and Rubio, I don’t think many other guys would be taken ahead of him. Unless it’s for the 1 or 2 spot, this deal doesn’t make any sense.

Hogwash!!!

That’s crazy talk, the ONLY reason to ever trade Lee, Nate or Wil is for proven, tried, tested NBA All Star, championship caliber material and NOT for a pick who’s stock has been falling (not through any fault of his mind you) This story had to be pulled out of some ones ass like the one time I got to drunk and called up those thai “escorts”

that's crap

I agree, to trade Chandler right now makes no sense, he’s signed for the future.

But the logic of not trading Lee and/Or Robinson is exactly the type of thought that resulted in Allan Houston. Great player, but that contract killed the Knicks for years.

You can’t overpay players just cuz the fans like them. This team needs to make sense financially, and by signing Lee and Robinson for contracts that make take up 17 or 18 million combined? WHY?

Id rather em and get a younger player with similar or more potential, but also has 1/5th the contract.

ur right

But I never said to overpay them, That moronic re-signing of Houston was ridiculous. To be honest I like a lot of players on this team. In fact Curry needs to be traded asap even though I would like nothing but good things for him after the year he’s had. Having said that though after the past two heart wrenching seasons no one should be untouchable including Chandler.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get some value for these guys should we decide to trade them though.

As far as the contract situation though…Nate and D Lee are very talented and if they can be retained at reasonable rates then great. Keep em and hold on to them.

If not then don’t even bother and let them walk or if there is a legitimate offer for sure fired proven talent, we sign and trade.

But this is all moot as neither can be traded unless new deals are re-worked to begin with.

i agree except

there are actually two reasons to ever trade Lee, Nate or Will: to unload Curry and/or Jeffries’ ridiculous contracts.
