The Radioactive Fallout of the Randolph - Q.Rich Trade

First of all, you have to credit D. Walsh for trading away two pieces that neither team apparently wanted in the first place.  But how does this specific trade affect the Knicks?

I assume that this trade makes it less likely that Memphis would want D. Lee.  We've all seen what a Lee - Randolph pairing can do defensively, after all.  With Portland probably signing Hedo and Detroit looking more or less done, does this make the chances of re-signing Lee a little brighter?  Really the only under the cap team left to worry about is OKC, as I understand.   Which, given their lack of frontcourt depth, may be worth noting.

okc

could, ineed, still have a lot of interest. wonder if they’d be more inclined to sign lee outright or work a sign-and-trade. too bad they like harden so much.

word on the streets is

that okc likes millsap better and is going after him.

looks like the market has really dried up for lee, and his only option could be NY. not that that’s a bad thing. especially since we’ll probably get him at 8 million per year, which is the same price detroit just paid for villanueva. not sure about you guys but…i’m taking lee every time between those two.

the only radioactivity is the lakers

they seem to be letting ariza walk. and i bet they would offer nate the mid-level. lee is ours.

I was surprised at this too

On a team with a ball hog like Mayo and and Rudy Gay then you add another hog in Z-Bo?

On paper, like the Knicks, it makes sense. But I doubt it.

As for Lee and OKC, they already have Nick Collison who is close to a Lee type player. Lee is an upgrade of course, but I don’t know if they go all in for Lee rather than wait for a bigger impact player, be it in next year’s draft or FA.

Overall Id still like to see a sign and trade. That 8-10 mill Lee’s gonna make is great for him cuz he earned it, but Id rather him earn that somewhere else.

That 8-10 mill (plus another 5-8….) would look a lot better going to Amare next offseason would it not????
