Jordan Hill or Tony Douglas
I happen to love Tony Douglas, but I am not sure about Jordan Hill. Ik he is like really raw and unpolished and has potential, but I just think douglas has more upside. He is so explosive and I think that he can really be a star in the league. He understands the game better and will be more of an immediate impact player, in my opinion.
Hill seems like hes not that skilled and doesnt have a great understanding of the game, but he seems like hes just really athletic. Theres not a lot going around to talk about with the knicks, so I just figured I'd get peoples opinions. Whats your take?

well
there’s probably a dude out there whose name is “thesportsdjpremo1” who actually writes really, really, really insightful comments about the knicks
i rebuke you that!
on what i said. (re:butt all, et al)
if i’m the only one that can follow that. i’m not clever, and i’ll shut up for as long as i can. promise!

no one knows
Hill was a double double machine for an average Arizona team (tho they did good in the tourney).
Ghostface was underrated at FSU but still lit up the scoreboard and played excellent defense.
I’ll take Hill. He just sounds too much like a young Amare (great athlete, unpolished, a lot of unknown to his game tho pause).
Ghostface seems to be at his max potential already, which is probably a good thing cuz he could be a nice part for a team.
neither is better.
we have had these guys for what…2 weeks? And by ‘had’ i mean we have their names. They havent stepped onto a court yet. Good in college doesn’t mean good in NBA, so lets let these cats play some big-boy ball before we decide on whos better and whos a bust. I dont know if any of us hoops intellectuals have seen either guy play in person or anything past highlights, so who knows.

+ 1 malapropism
Anyway, you should check out the movie "Black and White," which actually stars Allan Houston. It’s not a comedy, but rather a really serious and emotional movie. - Wilson Chandler

the point
of this question is to see who you like better, whether it be from highlights youtube actual games or in person
i never said. “Who is better in the NBA”…the point of this question is to get your opinion before they step on the court

ha
premo beats is a wonderful thing, beyond that even. but they got decimated by the worst goddamned rapper in the history of overrated rappers. the instrumentals stand the test of time, the lyrics are so boring and lame it hurts. i would have taken 20 years of ANYONE else over premier. ANYONE!

umm
anyone that was a contemporary. but plenty of today-ish dudes would be just fine.

i would never argue that Guru
was one of the best ever, but i do love almost all of the old gangstarr shit. maybe it’s just because the beats were so ridiculous. i actually thought Premo’s best beat wasn’t even a Gangstarr song – instead for BIG in “Unbelievable”.

by Anthony Masons Haircut on Jul 6, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions
i hear that
but to me the old gangstarr shit is garbage because guru is too lost in the moment. the 88 shit was good in the summer of 88. but once 1990 happened. the only thing that wasn’t lost was the beats. just my personal.
and my favroite premo works are the stuff he did for group home. and that second jeru album! man please. thats what’s up! and maybe “nas is like”. unbeleivable is definitely right there.
but my favoite rapper might be prodigy. and the difference between someone like p and guru is oceans apart. odb is my main man too. guys that have personality usually come across as good rappers to me too. god universal ruler universal is so bland and dry. turkey on white bread, no condiments with saltines for dessert. you’ll get by, sure. but did you really nourish yourself?
twitter.com/aighttho
ton of hate for guru?
I agree he’s not the best and he is sort of bland.
But how are you gonna say that with Prodigy as your favorite? Yea the early stuff was incredible, but since he called himself the HNIC he’s been more bland than a turkey sandwith with the actual cut from the bird, overcooked by your senile grandmother type with flour for dessert. No cake, no sugar, plain flour. You probably aint gonna live on that.

YAP EM (yap em) ZAP EM (zap em)
i don’t think it’s possible to listen to m.o.p. and not get hype. i have difficulty believing that the members of mop can go to sleep, because of how overwhelmingly hype their music is.
i’ve listened to that shit before having to play ball before. always works. always.
i can listen to gang starr all day
the fact that guru is at best mediocre almost enhances my gang starr listening experience. its like “even this guy sounds moderately interesting when i’m producing for him”
i hear that
i mean to make guru sound like he’s accomplishing something actually is quite impressive. i can listen to gangstarr, and don’t get me wrong, i like the stuff by and large. “mass appeal” is my joint for sure. “tons of gunz”… and moment of truth had a lot of great tracks. there is definitely a ton of great tracks. i’m just harping on guru for a many an obvious reason. but it’s really there for – i think dude is weak. “the girls look so good” or whatever that one is called. but then they do some shit like “the mall” which is my purest example of why premiere trumps guru so intensely. he’s got his heart in the right place. and maybe that’s what made them rise above the rest. but honestly… throw kool g rap into a primo album…. and you might have the most ruggedest selection of beats and rhymes ever!

need i say more?
twitter.com/aighttho
me and you see eye to eye on this
it explains the joke i made about that sportsguru dude all the way up top. i have referred to guru as “that guy who is in gang starr with dj premier” before in conversations, so, yeah.
i'm just gonna say
over the past 3 yrs, i’ve definitely been impressed by the collective P&T hip-hop knowledge. Maybe there’s some kind of link between good rap, hardcore non fair-weather fans, and childish dick and fart jokes?

Agreed. I can't keep up with any of you guys when it comes to Gang Starr and shit.
and know you all like Tribe a whole lot, but I only KINDA fucks with them.
But when it comes to dead guys (Biggie, Pac, Big L) and Wu-Tang, I have a borderline obsession.
There’s gotta be some link with Knicks fans or some shit. I’ve noticed this same thing. It’s why I recommended a few months ago that, during the slow summer months, people make lists of their favorite albums or something to like. I had (have) the feeling a lot of them would jive.

ATCQ
is my shit.
In fact, Q-Tip’s Renaissance is a damn good listen to those who haven’t gotten to it.
Its a NY thing. ALl these greats are from NY, so of course you follow then since you are a pup.
Jersey’s got some good shit too. I’ve been listening to Arifacts and Redman all week. Pace Won too.
I follow a ton of rap tho, lost of old school west coast like the Alkaholiks
You fucks with Del tha funkiest?

do you remember patrick ewing?
i hate to put it this way, but how you answer that question will completely determine whether or not i listen to you
Thats rough guru
You probably don’t even remember a winning knicks team

that means
born in 95 basically. 4 years old 99. we got one hell of a case study here boys.
twitter.com/aighttho
oh my goodness
are you old enough to have seen space jam
a very important question, but slightly less so than the ewing question
What!
Yo! Is it even scientifically possible for someone to be a Knicks fan if they were born after 1995? Dag!
Yo, my whole thing with Gangstarr was this “If these guys don’t even sound moderately interested in their music, why should I be?”
If the Knicks start coming out to M.O.P., the Knicks could come out waving a Mop ala Patrick Ewing with the Broom. Of course, Bill and Fame would be mad disappointed that people still think M.O.P. stands for mop and…
