Around SBN: Todd Haley Is The Steelers Next Offensive Coordinator

The other view

I know that this isn't a common point of view,  but I think that this year's Knicks will be better than conventional wisdom believes. No, I have no delusions that they are championship caliber, or even that they would go deep into the playoffs.

BUT,

I do believe that they will make the playoffs this year.

There are several reasons I am cautiously optimistic about this year for the first time in a long time

1. I think stability is a good thing.  Players need time to learn to play together.  Frantic remaking of the team each year disrupts the chemistry.  I think Walsh wants to take this group and let it settle in a little

2. Chandler and Gallo -  I think they have two potential stars here.

3. The end of last season.  Yeah, they didn't make the playoffs, but they didn't fold either.  The team hung together and kept playing.  Again, that was the first time in several years we could say that.  By the end of the season last year and the year before, the team was in total disarray.

I know that there are still problems with this team - but for the first time in years, I think that they are headed in the right direction

not so sure

i would hesitate to think that the team we see is the team we’ll have at the end of the year. almost every contract we have is expiring and thusly is a very moveable part. not to mention the contracts we actually have hopes of moving. it wouldn’t surprise me if we look different by december again. and this trade deadline could be a supremely wacky one for the ages. with more than half the team either openly on the block or in a contract year, there just is not enough stability. it’s a year long audition for everybody.

that being said, i have hope that we can win close to 40. but i don’t think it’s possible unless we start the season hot.

It depends on the sort of leap that guys like Gallo and Willie Chan take

also, can D-Lee get better? He’s still young you know. What about the rooks? Never good to rely on rooks, but if Ghost and Jordan (Hill) can contribute and at the least make the bench deeper and more potent, the Knicks will have a chance to win 40.

They are a young team with a lot of unproven talent and also more overpaid deadweight than any team would want (Thankx Curry, Hughes and Jeffries).

Lots of ifs, like can Darko at least be decent? Can Big Al at least be a bit more consistent? Can Hughes just go away?

But there’s a few definites too, like Lee will be a double double machine, Nate will contend for 6th man of the year…and….well…I guess you can say Willie Chan and Gallo will be better, just how much better?

What the f$%k is the internet?
