Gus Johnson is gone! What do we do?
Terrible news this morning fellas. Gus Johnson has cut ties with MSG.

I'm not sure what to say. It's early in the morning and I'm stunned. Gus was a part of so many magical Knick memories for me. His call on Allan Houston's running jumper against Miami will always be in my heart. Damn.
Do you think he would have been skipping games if the Knicks were not such an absolute crapfest over the last ten years. Why would you watch a bunch of selfish bums getting outhustled and outclassed every night when you could be calling primetime boxing. I don't know.
First Marv, now Gus. This really really sucks. Somebody lock up Mike Breen and Clyde. Don't let them follow.

Phil Mushnick, you human paraquat
Johnson’s hype-reliant play-by-play style — he’s easily excited — seems to make him more attractive to broadcasting executives than popular among genuine sports fans.
Yes, we’re all of us genuine sports fans clamoring for more Mike Crispino
Phil Mushnick
sounds like he hasn’t gotten laid in 45 years.

i was a huge gus johnson fan!
but i read that he and clyde had some very heated arguments and some folks believed that he talked too much. not leaving space for the analysts to wax (nahmean?). also they were in some sort of hold out on contract negotitations last year or the year before.
so although i am sad to hear this news, i am not surprised.
