Where should Anthony Randolph's minutes come from?
I saw that Anthony Randolph only had 3 minutes in last night's win over the Bulls, which makes some sense considering his poor preseason and injury. However, he's supposed to a great young player with a lot of upside, and he figures to get 20-30 minutes a game. Looking through how the minutes were divided last night, there don't appear to be any available minutes.
Gallinari 36
Amare 37
Mozgov 10
Fields 21
Felton 35
Chandler 24
Douglas 31
Walker 15
Turiaf 25
Randolph 3
If Gallinari drops to 30, Amare to 35, Walker to 10, Fields to 15, that would give Randolph 22 minutes. It seems wrong to reduce minutes for Fields when he's played so well, but Douglas and Turiaf have played even better. Maybe Amare should be cut down more until he stops playing like a rookie.

It probably will come down to
how the other players are performing….last night everyone was hot so it would have been tough getting him in there…especially first game back…
Depends on the match-ups as much as anything.
If he was ready, last night was a good night for him to get a lot of minutes: Bulls have no dominant post presence and Amare was having an off night. I think he’ll work in for a myriad of guys at SF, PF and C.
I really would like to see that 2nd unit get some more burn as a unit as a whole. They are really tough to match up with. But when TD is shooting like that, it makes sense to let him run with the ones in place of Fields.
Before the game, D'Antoni said he'd only be getting 5-7 minutes anyway
And I guess the two quick fouls brought that down to 3.
I get the sense that there’s not a lot of urgency, considering the rest of our bench is playing lights out even without AR at full speed.
Only makes sense. I think its going to be hard for him to log minutes all year though, unless he starts to produce. Unfortunately for him MD has to win games this year, and he can’t waste precious minutes developing him. Gotta figure Mozgov is only going to get more minutes the more he gets acclimated. Buike’s return will probably lead to Fields and Chandler to getting more minutes at the 3. He’s going to have to sit tight until the Melo trade. Once (or if) that happens, he’ll probably see a spike in his time on the floor.
How about we let Dzeidzic divide the minutes?
I bet he can find a way to get Randy some minutes, lol

i think it depends on matchups..
i for one thought Randolph was going to come back in when will got his 5th fould and amare just sat with 4. But pringles put amare right back in there. Anyways tho. I dont think fields loses minutes. His spot at the two is where he’s going to stick. I think as he gainst strength in the ankle. that he will be the 2nd “foul trouble” replacement (will being #1). and the guy whos on the floor for turiaf late in games b/c of his ft shooting.
"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"
I'm definately in tune with the last sentence.
But he’s got to play smart defense at the ends of games and keep his own foul troubles in check.
its great
having the versatility of randolph and chandler coming off the bench. Only his first game back, and everyone was playing pretty well, and D’antoni prefers Wilson to spell Amare, so Randolph not getting much burn isnt a big concern. Depth never a bad thing
Most Definitely
Pringles will play who's hot
no one in the NBA is hot every game save for a few select players, and I dunno that any are on the Knicks at this point. So if say…Fields is struggling, get Randolph in there. And if he’s playing well, let em play 40 minutes..who cares.
There should be no such thing as set minutes to really anyone, at this point, other then Amar’e and Felton.
Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows
Which is why I didn't mind a quiet second half from Gallo.
TD was on fire and they rode him out, and it was good. As long as guys can remain unselfish and do what’s best for the team, we will be a very versatile and deep team. Hopefully they’ll know the W is so much sweeter than the stat sheet
