Is Walsh going to trade AR for 1st rounder and Bill Walker for Mayo this week? Very interesting week upcoming for the Knicks.
The question is would these trades hinder the chemistry?

Interesting.

No idea how true it is, but I’d love to get OJ here. Tho they said “separate deals”. One involving Mayo, the other a 1st rounder for Anthony Randolph in order to trade to Denver.

Does that mean Mayo + Carmelo is Donnie’s goal? The sense I sorta get from that is they could do it, but the team is playing well so they don’t want to do it.

I say trade for Mayo and screw the rest.

Mayo, TD, Williams and Turiaf off the bench is serious

I want the Knicks to wait and sign Melo he’s not going to NJ cuz he would have agreed to go already.

For real

Mayo has star quality, 18.5 ppg as a rookie is no joke, and in this offense, the possibilities are skyward. I remember him saying in an interview that he had pg aspirations as well, so maybe mayo, while he is a great scorer, can be the backup pg for Felton that we’ve been looking for? Damn he would be a good fit here. And if all we have to give is Bill Walker and cash/2nd rounder, that is a steal, plain and simple. Donnie would do that in a heartbeat, assuming it hasn’t turned to stone.

Most Definitely

I would do the Mayo deal right now without hesitation

ok, i'll bite..

despite what i said the other day about wanting to keep the core together and enjoy how we’re playing right now.

so i’d take mayo in a flash. question is what would we have to give up. you’ve got to reckon its more than bill walker… i’d try DWTDD (as much as it pains me) and azubuike for immediate cap relief – i read somewhere (probably on this site) that if he hasnt played by jan 21st a big chunk of his salary is waived off. whatever – if there’s an opportunity to steal him for very little you have to do it. as others have said mayo would be great and be able to play a bit of 2. his salary is about 4.3 this season and a shade under 6 next season.

then the question of ar for a pick comes up. don’t understand the logistics, as i posted in the other thread, but i would hesitate to do that. i want to see how he does – yes he’s a long way away right now but he has so much potential. in terms of getting the pick to do a deal for melo, im not sure of that one too. i want melo here, but depending on what happens with the cba, and where the cap is set, theres a good chance we could retain the bulk of our roster (for one chandler’s caphold is only just over 3m) and get melo on 11m – which is what the max contract is going to be on the new cba as it stands. any bargaining/lock may come down to rolling back salaries as the key sticking point and melo clearly wants to be here.

anyway that would leave us with the following for next season:

felton
mayo
melo
stat
turiaf

fields
gallo
chandler
randolph

now that would be sick!

I seen this.

Wasn’t too sure of who the guy is that wrote the article so I kind of just shrugged it off.

I'd love to get Mayo

I still don’t think he’s actually being shopped, but if he is I think Donnie will pounce. Mayo wanted to be a Knick from the beginning and he’d be great here

I think AR + Walker can get us Mayo

Salaries match, and with the Grizzlies about to let Z-Bo go in free agency, it would make sense for their future. I’d do that deal, too. Mayo just turned 23 and as I mentioned in another thread, he wanted to be a Knick from the beginning. Efficient scorer, great defender, very unselfish.

that deal can be done before dec15

only team randolph cant be traded too is warriors until july 1, 2011

and it puts us over the cap… would have to include mason or someone else to make money work

OK thanks

and obviously throwing in Mason wouldn’t be a problem

New to the blog but been a knick fan since the Ewing days

but if we got OJ and Melo thats a better team than Miami imo

"Anytime you have an organization and an owner that wants to win as badly as Al Davis wants to win, and will spend the money to win, I don’t think you have as many barriers as you think. Those are easy. The ones that would be tough is where you didn’t have any good players and you had an owner or an organization that didn’t want to spend any money to get good players." - John Madden, 2008

Not really

They’re still the championship favorite, they are finally coming together and will have Haslem/Miller + 3.5mil TPE

No really.

they’re overrated. Lot of teams better then them and the championship stuff was only from their own mouth and the idiots/experts before they were seen actually playing a game.

They look great

and they’re missing their two key role players. also the disabled player exemption can land them another key contributor.

other thing i was thinking about is

what if the nuggets want mayo
maybe donnies trying to make a three team deal that gets the nuggets mayo and gets us melo
tho i still think chandler should stay at all costs
