with all this talk about bringing in melo... it got me thinking about what it means to be a fan. i love the knicks. i love the sport. i love the season and the highs and lows that go with it.
which leads me to this question... what brings me more entertainment? winning a championship? or rooting for my team 'cause they have fight, character, chemistry, grit, balls etc.
reading all the supporters and detractors of the melo deal, i realized the main reason i don't want it to go down... and it's because i like rooting... i love the "outta nowhere" landry fields of the world... the homegrown gallo's and chandlers of the world... the rugged, underestimated feltons of the world... and yeah, the walk the walk stoudemires of the world.
and i'd rather almost win with MY kinda guys... than win with mercinaries... which is what we'd be doing if we unload for melo like everyones sayin we'd have to (even though he's a NY guy, we'd still have to stock the rest of the team with purchased ballers).
don't get me wrong, i want the ring... but it's the season i enjoy the most. and a season of tough games, spirited play and team chemistry WITH playoff battles at the end is all i need... of course also WITH the possibility of winning it all by beating down whorish squads like the celtics and heat.
go 'head boys... what side do you fall on?
