If you didn't read Jerzee Balla's post, go check it out. It clears up some misconceptions about who believes what on this site, and I like that. HOWEVER, I need to take issue with number three:
"Third Myth - We're some back-ups away from contending."
Is it really a myth...
Do what KrissKross will make you do!
If we get a bruising defensive-minded rebounding center, and a solid backup point guard, you really think we can't win a championship? Why not?
I'm serious.
Phoenix was always a contender on the doorstep with Nash and Amare, and you know what they were lacking? A bruising defensive-minded rebounding center, and a solid backup point guard. Yeah, think about it.
If they had that big body to contain Tim Duncan and clog the painted area, they would've won. But they didn't, and so instead we watched a boring Spurs dynasty appear.
We can score the ball. There's no disputing that. But are interior D is soft, and our point guard is tired. Those are our only holes. What else are me missing!?!?!
Our perimeter players are already better defenders than the D'Antoni's crew in Phoenix. Outside of Raja Bell, who was stopping the ball for them? DJ Strawberry?
We have lockdown defenders in Felton, DWTDD, Fields, and Azubuike when he returns. We have a great defensive back up center in Turiaf.
I think we are a big bruising defensive-minded center (starter, not backup) and a solid backup PG from contending.
Now you tell me why not...
