How the Knicks Get Better at The Deadline

We played at great game last night, the starters did what they do and the bench players played GREAT, hell all of our starters sat for the last 3 mins of the 4th. We have not seen much of that lately. Now to my post, I want to take a look at a couple of ways are knicks can get even better at the deadline. This will include Free Agents, Current Players and moves that can be made.

Please take the jump with me.

First how can guys that are on our current roster make us better?

If Ronny Turiaf can stay healthy all season, play like he did last night and at the very beginning of the season we become a much better team. I know that we have learned how to win without him, but he gives this team alot. The same goes for Toney Douglas. Also if Anthony Randolph gets it together, Mike wants to use him as a specialist so if he can focus on defense and rebounding he will get minutes I wish someone could tell this to him, if he doesn't pan out he is gone for a first rounder so win win, but I am really pulling for the kid to get it together. He has so much potential.

Now for some Free Agents!

The Knicks have solid wing play right now, There biggest need in my opinion is another big body inside. Earl Barron was dropped by the suns after they made the trade with Orlando, he played great for us last season but how much stock can be put into that? One of the main reasons I like Barron is he is a seven footer can rebound( atleast from what I saw last year) runs the floor well and D'Antoni trust him. This is one of the main issues with anyone that plays for Mike. If he does not have faith in you or you don't fit his system you do not play. Barron could be a very good piece for us because while Ronny is doing very well right now, we all know about his knee issues and at some point he will be forced to miss games. This is where Earl could be very beneficial to us when Turiaf can not go. Also to win in the playoffs you must have bigs. I know many of you would like to see Rafer Alston here and I love his game to, but you have to believe that there is a reason he is on the market and nobody has even contacted him, right?

Who would we drop to make this deal? Roger Mason Jr.

Now let's see what pieces are on the trading block!

Carmelo Anthony - Everyone reading this knew it was coming and honestly no matter what the outcome is I can not wait for this to be over. I want us to move on from this and keep adding pieces and keep getting better. He gives us another star which some might argue we need. He plays the way he does now because that is what he team needs from him. He can play the four and according to new reports the nuggets are more interested in Chandler then gallo. I do think if he came here he would step it up on d. If you remember his first year in the league he lead the nuggets to the playoffs in the western conference. I do think he would make the adjustments to put this team over the top, the guys loves MDA and he has been on multiple Olympic teams so he knows what it takes. So the question is with melo, stat, and felt are we contenders I feel we are. Walsh knows how to draft and in the offseason verternas would sign for the min. to get a shot at a title.

Andre Iguodala - i like this move as well, he is not a max guys but is a great defender which is what we need, we would likely just give up Eddy Curry and another player. We become better defensively keep our young talent and I feel that with the Knicks he becomes an all-star. Think about it for most of his career he has been miscast. He is not going to be your number 1 scoring option. In philly this is what they tried to turn him into. In ny he would be 3rd maybe even 4th when you consider gallos development.

Anderson Varejao - Him and Amare inside total domination, I think we can get him and AI9 with the following deal:

We get - AI9 and Anderson

Cavs get - Wilson Chandler and buike

Sixers get - Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph

Why would Cleveland do it. CAP RELIEF and Wilson Chandler they need a small forward will and jj would be a nice duo.

Why would Philly do it - CAP RELIEF and Anthony Randolph has potential still then they can move young back to the 3 and let turner start at the two.

Why would we do it. - While we give up cap flexibility, we become title contenders.

Also nothing could happened, Melo could go to the nets and we could do nothing if this does happen be positive because as Alan Hahn stated yesterday we still have cap flexibility and players are always becoming available ie Celtics with kg and the Lakers with Gasol.
