D'Antoni is Morpheus/Randolph is Neo

Morpheus D'Antoni: I'm trying to free your mind, Neo Anthony. But I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it.

The Matrix came out nearly 11 years ago and it changed everything...and explained everything.  Great flick.

Anthony Randolph is a athletically gifted player on a team that has minutes to give for a long player that plays defense, rebounds and can score.  He is and can do all of those things but, alas, he can't get real minutes.  Why why why?

Morpheus D'Antoni: I don't know if you're ready to see what I want to show you, but unfortunately, you and I have run out of time. They're coming for you, Neo Anthony, and I don't know what they're going to do.

Take the jump if you can...

You often hear Anthony Randolph compared to Lamar Odom.  However Odom's averaged 4.2 apg and .360% from 3pt land in his rookie year, that doesn't sound like AR to me, maybe there is a better way to extrapolate the future.

If you were 6'10 or 6'11" and were trying to find your game/way on to the court, you could look at your team's starting lineup and think deeply:

Randolph: "Whose game is closest to mine?  Whose playing time should I be competing for?  STAT and Gallo are both around 6'10" - one wants to tear the rim down given half a chance, the other wants to shred the net from long distance.  Should I be making my living from the inside or on the outside?

Lemme check and take a deep numerical sniff at this season's production...

Shot Att. eFG% <10 secs

                                                  Gallo  Jump      85%             .46%         42%

                                                  STAT  Jump      62%            .46%          29%

                                                  AR     Jump      76%             .20%          58%

Ok, so it says here I take a higher % of jump shots than Stoudamire and release them quicker than Gallo.  It also looks like my efficiency rating is, whoa, godawful.

Shot Att. eFG% eFG% 16-24 secs

                                                 Gallo  Inside      15%             .70%         .60%

                                                 STAT  Inside      38%            .67%          .50%

                                                 AR     Inside      24%             .50%          .50%

From the inside my efficiency rating is NBA-like and when I work the clock my eFG% is identical to STAT...sweet.  Holy crap, Gallo eFG% from inside is huge, no wonder everyone tellss him to take it to the basket...hmmm...wait a sec...

Right now I can't hit the broad side of a barn from outside but from up close, I have real numbers...I know I have played mainly garbola time but I can't fight the stats by sitting on the bench can I?  What should I do?

Blue Pill = Live the Italian lifestyle, shoot from the outside, order more pasta

Red Pill = Live like STAT jr and eat what I kill and attack the rim with my pterodactyl wingspan

Morpheus D'Antoni: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Effing great movie.
