And here's why.
Felton and Amare are our unquestioned leaders. Co-captains. New to the squad. Chip on their shoulder, something to prove. And every night they play as such. Fierce, nasty, want to break you. And we love it.
Gallo on the other hand, has a much more innocently murderous spirit. Oh yeah, he wants to break you as well, but he wants it to look accidental. He doesnt want you to know he is a killer. Ninja like.
Problem with these contrasting styles is it causes the leaders to look away from him. All of us scream for Gallo to assert himself more. Be more consistent. But he cant do that without a bigger role. Last night, damn near everytime he got the ball he made something happen. Sweet spin move on LeBron for the And 1. Clutch 3 near the end to close it to 6. Assist to TD on the 4 point play. But Gallo isnt gonna bark at AMARE and demand the ball. Nor will he do it to Felton. They are the leaders, Gallo is just falling in line.
Over the last few games, Gallo for some reason has been froze out of the offense. Whenever he is allowed to create on his own, he usually succeeds. Coach has simply got to run MORE PLAYS for Gallo. Whether its to get him open for a jumper, or to give him the ball and let him decide what to do. When that happens, I think the effect will be twofold.
1) Gallo will finally be able to turn in consistent efforts due to being a consistent part of the offense.
2) This in turn will take pressure off of Amare and Felton to create all of our offense, which may allow those 2 to rest a lil more while Gallo carries the load.
If I make no sense, dont hesitate to tell me go back to Jersey with my stupid analysis. I just dont see how we can keep blaming Gallo when he is making the most out of the opportunities he is given.
