Do you see that? Seriously, doooooo yoooooooooou seeeeeeeee thaaaaaaaat? Shawne "Threee" Williams (Get it? He wears number three, hit's three and the extra "E" in Shawne adds onto three which makes "Threee"... Ah, forget it) has been absolutely hot in the past two games. The guy can simply not miss. I may be jumping the gun but who gives a hell, when players on my team show flashes of greatness I take notice and I drink the kool aid.

It's weird actually, every time Shawne got the ball this afternoon I felt completely safe, like I was riding the light up into heaven. He makes me feel... Protected in a way. No matter how incredibly weird that may sound it's the honest truth. When he shoots, time stops, the ball begins to move in slow-motion and when it tickles the twine, boy does it tickle my fancy, rings my bell, tutes... my... horn... I'm not sure if I sound increasingly homerish or just plain homo but I'm fine with either the two.

I apologize to you Shawne for the unlimited amounts of "Drop Shawne Williams for _____" comments and post I've made. You deserve to be a Knick and everyone who have doubted should take this time to apologize now. Keep it up and don't make me regret this...

Its only been 2 games

but yea, it seems he’s got way more upside then just a random 15th man signing.

It appears Donnie Walsh has a great eye for talent.

the dude does look smooth out there

even on the defensive end, he looks like he’s been there before. Very much so understands spacing on the offensive end; there’s a reason why he’s so wide open.

Yeah, I definitely disbelieve that Ewing Jr. could have came in and stroked that way.

We gave Donnie a lot of gripe for letting Ewing Jr. go but it seems like it was the right choice. Ewing Jr. may be just meant for the D-League. I like the kid but he’s not an NBA player.

I was wondering when this was coming

And yeah, gotta fess up—I way underestimated Shawne. This may have a been another one of those sneaky-brilliant moves by the Don. Obviously extra E won’t shoot 90% from downtown for the rest of the year, but if he can settle in around 40% he could be a huge boost off the bench for us.

Consider: Bill Walker has the skill-set of a 3, but is the size of a 2 (a very slow 2). Shawne also has the skill-set of a 3, but is tall enough to play the 4 in some cases. His rebounding and defense are both better than Bully’s, and clearly he can shoot the rock. Shawne also has a wingspan of 7’3" (!!!) and it never hurts to have a little more length on the floor.

Consider, also, that the knock on Shawn’e has that been that he’s a knucklehead with a bad attitude and poor work ethic, not that he is not talented. Dude is the same age as Mozgov, was drafted 17th (only 3 spots lower than Randolph, for what it’s worth) and is clearly a different caliber of talent than Pat Jr. (sorry Pat). According to Pringles, E has been busting his ass, working hard and very much not acting a fool since day one, and if he’s really turned the corner attitude-wise he could end up being the best 15th man signing in the league.

My only problem with him is that his extra E won’t stay silent in my brain. It’s like impossible for me to read his name as sounding like regular old “Shawn” (or Sean, Shaun or whatever). Whenever I read it or even see his bizarrely-old-looking self I think “Shawn-EEE”. Like Shawneeee, for threeeee.

Well, he was raw to begin with, and even now he'd be a college senior had he stayed in school

and would even be young among his classmates.

He just needs time and coaching… and experience at some point

Seriously though, this team never fails to surprisee me.

Next thing wee know, Rautins or Mason Jr. will bee out theree impressing us. Fields was the first big surprisee and if Shawne can stay productivee wee may have ourself something nicee.

from what I heard about Williams in practice

its really not a surprise. Walker was just ahead of him cuz he’s been here. Williams apparently was doing what he’s doing in practice, but Pringles being a nice guy and all didn’t play Williams over him given Walker’s real game prowess….

My brother said something like that.

He mentioned D’Antoni saying something about Gallinari and actually Shawne as the best shooters on the team. I also remember (not sure if it was here or elsewhere) someone saying that Shawne was lights out during an open practice early in the season. So yeah, maybe we’ve been keeping him on the down low for a while but he’s a complete surprise to me.

check this stuff out

Seems he’s sort of an ideal Pringles player. Undefined position, but tall and can shoot the 3 very well.

This

Just about says it all

Gets about one third of his offensive from spot up opportunities and another quarter from fast breaks. Likes to play more uptempo, where he can play to his strengths.

With the way our PnR has been working lately the Raptors collapsed in the paint nearly every time leaving our shooters wide open. Felton was fiding them time and time again and Williams was just standing waiting for the rock. He just wouldn’t miss and no one even bothered to guard him on the perimeter. He’ll be a serious problem if he keeps knocking those three’s down.

if he plays this way for a few weeks, and gallo

doesnt have any big games (Although I dont think he is hurting the team…) I wouldnt oppose him starting.

But he has to earn it and Gallo still hasnt lost it yet IMO.

we have our own robert horry!

the past 2 games we’ve seen him with those score-padding/clutch 3’s he’s been making kind of reminds me of all those robert horry daggers from back in the day. granted, its only from 2 days of action. but could you imagine if he’s really THAT clutch? our knicks team would be scarier than we thought.

id like an asshole on the this knicks team. If i were a horrywilliams fan, id love to hate his assholish ways.

Even though

Horry and Cassell, as rookies, in my opinion cost us the 94 championship, for some reason I don’t hate them. They brought it the bigtime and I respect those guys. If Williams is like Horry, then frickin’ awesome for us.

Yep, I gotta throw in my apologies too.

Obviously, we’re all happy with how Shawne is shooting the ball. But notice also that so far this guy has been a class act. He’s sat on the bench and never complained, busted his tail in practice, and behaved himself on and off the court. Congratulations Mr. Williams, I wish you unbridled success.

They will be for!

I think it may be a little much

For him to shoot 87.5% from 3 for the rest of the year.

Something tells me he’s gonna miss a few

well

that would be an alltime nba record.. so that might be wahts tells you that.

But nonetheless… gotta ride the hot rod when its playing hard.

I missed all the games this weekend

but it looks like Shawne really gave the Knicks some punch off the bench. That’s good, I’m happy for him….hopefully he keeps it up

by Jason Bee on Dec 6, 2010 10:48 AM EST reply actions

he's obviously playing well

I’m happy too, the guy has talent and was a former 1st rd pick…he deserves a chance for working hard and working his way back into the league.

but lets not get too happy…he’s being given open looks. 10-20 games from now he’ll be the same player with tons of talent but he may not be producing as hot or efficient as this.

just keep that in mind

Here's something funny.

1) Shawne Williams and Bill Walker throw punches at each other in practice
2) A few weeks later Williams seems to be absorbing every drop of Walker’s minutes and basically switching places with him.
3) Now there’s talk about Walker being shipped away.
Walker must really hate Shawne right now.

I wanted to smoke a cigarette after reading that.

That brother is special in a Fields kinda way. He took a different route to get to the same place, and that’s good for team chemistry. AND HE PLAYS “D” AND SCRAPS!!! Right now Amare is getting him open looks. Soon he’ll be getting Amare open lanes.

I remember Williams when he was in college

The guy has some real talent, and could turn out to be another great pick up by Donnie. It’s not like Donnie took a shot in the dark, he drafted him back in 2006. However, the guy has been a major knucklehead off the court more known for his arrests than his production. Hopefully, he appreciates the second chance he is getting and will keep it together off the court, so he can let his talent shine through on the court. I am pulling for the guy. Let’s hope he does not make Donnie look like a fool twice.

by Robert Currence on Dec 6, 2010 1:44 PM EST reply actions

@Currence & Theintern

Talent:
Both of you would still have Gallinari starting ahead of S.Williams even he averaged 15points off the bench.
That is how sad and in love both of you are with Gallinari.
It is coming fellas your Gallianri is going to the bench. It is a matter of time and we will win with this move.
Just watch. D.Walsh runs this team and he to is fed up with Gallinari and D’Antoni love fest.
Its coming.

by Dziedzic on Dec 6, 2010 4:32 PM EST up reply actions

Mr. Dziedzic

I am going to start to ignore you my friend. This post nor my comment had nothing to do with Gallinari. For the record I don’t care who starts as long as the team wins. It is you who seem to have a hair across your ass about Gallo. That is cool just leave me out of it. If he raped your cat or stole your girl, I don’t want to know. But Please, I am begging you, give up this obsession with Gallo or at least leave me out of it. I promise I will no longer comment on your post’s show statistical evidence that OJ Mayo is not presently a better player than Gallo, nor will I tell you that Sending a player to the D-League does not increase his trade value, nor will I remind you that Gallinari is actually playing quite well when compared to some pretty good players with the similar number of games under their belt. Basically dude leave me out of it!

Mike, I think you've got it wrong

Dziedic’s first name is Danilo. Don’t you see the Italian Catholic self flaggelation going on here? It fits into the “I’m not a superstar” pattern…… Gallo/Dziedic, don’t beat yourself up. You don’t have to hit every single shot to be worthwhile. You’re a good person and gosh darnit, people like you.
