Around SBN: Will Rhymes 'Fine' After Being Hit By Pitch And Fainting

The Knicks have made inquiries to other teams in search of a low-cost backup point guard to preserve the starter Raymond Felton, according to two N.B.A. executives with knowledge of the organization’s discussions. The Knicks are looking at players whose contract expires at the end of the season in order to keep their salary-cap space for the summer. They are willing to part with Bill Walker, according to the executives.

You do know I was just about to post this right?????

With a nice shiny poll asking which of these expiring PG’s would they fans to see here most.

T.J. Ford
Aaron Brooks
Mario Chalmers
Daequan Cook
Goran Dragic

To my knowledge those are all the expiring PG’s. Not too great of a list but I’d love Dragic.

If I remember correctly, the Pacers were trying to get rid of Ford before the season but to no avail.

Maybe TJ Ford will be a Knick if the report is accurate.

I think Ford is the only possibility there, maybe Chamlers ( the Heat could use a Walker I guess...)

Brooks isn’t going anywhere, Dragic ditto and is Cook really a PG?

I guess Ford would be OK. Can’t hit a 3, or really shoot, for his life. But he can probably be a good distributor and fast break operator.

Last night, a comedian died in New York. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows

by Rorschach44 on Dec 5, 2010 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah Dragic is key to the Suns

He’s got a great game, I’d love to have him, but no chance of that.

I read that Ford is who Jim O’brien goes to in the crunch for the Pacers, so if they were willing to deal him, he might possibly be a good distributor for us.

by WSD on Dec 5, 2010 8:34 PM EST up reply actions

Ford requires Curry in the deal

Brooks is too good for this discussion
Chalmers, eh he can defend
Cook is not a PG
I see no reason why the Suns would trade Dragic

It seems Telfair has been stuck on point guard heavy rosters and has not really gotten consistent playing time. I think if we need a backup point guard for 10 or 15 minutes a game, he’d probably do fine.

Dragic is probably the best floor general of em all

but looking at that list I think the only guys that don’t get resigned is Cook and Ford, out of which I’d take Ford.

I’d like to see em make a move with Rautins tho…give him mins or D league him get him some experience and open a spot and instead of a trade perhaps we can make a Dleague call up? I mean that’s what it’s there for, why not use it?

Usually, they’re bigger on him than they are on Barea. Barea’s a good player, but not as good as Beaubois.

Better Idea

Memphis has lack of fan suport and has overpaided Gay and Conley. Gasol and Randolph are F/A’s after the season. They drafted X.Henry/SG and is starting ahead of O.J.Mayo.
So package Gallinari, Randolph and Mason for O.J.Mayo. Him and Walker played together in high school and he can also play PG/SG.
The reason for the trade for next year Knicks is to lure Carmelo as F/A along with Memphis is not going to able to keep all these guys next year as they have to resign them. To much money. O.J.Mayo is a talent that can create his own shot along with being able to play two positions PG/SG. Steal him and never look back. Not some second or third level backup PG.

What's going on with Armon Johnson?

He was the guy I really wanted in the draft (Obviously I’m thrilled that Donnie picked L. Fields instead).

This guy has been solid in limited minutes in Portland. Plus, I bet Portland would be easy to make a deal with because injuries have made them desperate.

i wouldnt mind reefer

i mean rafer. I remember making a post this offseason about him..but most shot that down b/c they said he would bring a bad attitude, and expect to start possible. Well, with Felton playing v good ball right now, I doubt that Alston would expect anything more than a backup gig at pg.

And this being his home state, i dont think he’d try to bring any malcontent bs to this close knit group of guys.

plus we wouldnt have to trade anyone for him. dropping RM would be non news worthy anyways

"they try to do what he do, and been where he's been, but they get folded in two.....he's the dude"

by semsemma on Dec 6, 2010 11:21 AM EST up reply actions

I seriously doubt we will use Curry's contract in any deal for a backup contract

It makes more sense to me it will be a straight swap with matching salaries ($0.854 mill), so I would rule Telfair and Dragic out of the mix. Besides, I seriously doubt the Suns will take Walker for Dragic, and I seriously doubt Mike D wants any of Marbury’s relatives in the locker-room.

More likely candidates are (in no particular order):
1. Mustafa Shakur (who apparently led the D-League in PER last season but have yet to play a game for the Hornets this year).
2. Earl Watson
3. Carlos Arroyo
4. Mario Chalmers
5. Earl Boykins
6. Acie Law (who I loved at Texas A&M, but have yet to see play as a pro…).

I think we can rule out the Heat players, because I’m sure Donnie doesn’t want to give Miami another shooter. And unless we have some in depth scouting reports on Shakur and Law, we can probably rule these guys out too.
I think that leaves Boykins and Watson, and between the two I’m for Watson.

Additionally, there two unsigned free-agents from this summer that we may be able to pick (not sure what are the rules, but if their previous team is interested in Walker they may be able to still do a sign and trade):
1. Anthony Johnson
2. Ronald Murray.
Murray is more of a combo guard, but knowing how traditionally we like Bulls players maybe he’s an option too.

by Nilov on Dec 6, 2010 11:04 AM EST reply actions

Shakur

by fuhry on Dec 6, 2010 5:25 PM EST up reply actions

by The Zeusian on Dec 6, 2010 7:00 PM EST up reply actions

He has, but they do have Ronnie Price as cover.

And Walker seems like a type of player that can excel under Sloan (like Matthews, Brewer, Miles). They did lose Matthews, and Brewer (as well as Korver) over the summer, so they might be interested in our Billy for depth on the wing and another shooter.

by Nilov on Dec 6, 2010 11:38 AM EST reply actions

TJ seems to be the most feasible deal. I’ve got a crazy feeling that White Chocolate would thrive in the D’Antoni system but the Magic already have too many bench swingmen shooters (Redick, QRich, Pietrus) so i doubt theyd want Bully. Boykins is interesting but i’d prefer TJ, and as for the Utah duo, I dont see Bully as a Jerry Sloan type of player at all.

End of the day, i think it’s down to TJ or Bassy

by PJCarlisimo's Neck on Dec 6, 2010 12:02 PM EST reply actions

Ford makes $8.5 mill this season...

so that means either we send Curry, which means we are out of the race for Melo if he loses patience mid season and demands a trade by the deadline, or that some other pieces will be included.
Either way I think it’s too hefty a price to pay for Ford.

OK, may sound weird, but.. Pooh Jeter

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/players/hollinger?playerId=3105

+ Undersized, quick point guard who can create off pick-and-roll.

+ Average outside shooter but has quick release in paint. Well-regarded teammate.

+ Lack of size a detriment defensively. Can pressure ball.

After a couple of solid seasons in Europe and a good summer league, Jeter is making the jump to the NBA at age 26. At 5-11, he’s going to struggle to check bigger guards, but he’ll serve as an off-the-bench energizer who can give the Kings a penetrator when Evans is off the floor.

Key pluses: “can create off the pick and roll”, “Well-regarded teammate”, “Can pressure the ball” , “solid seasons in Europe”, " off-the-bench energizer" and penetrator. Makes a little ;less than what Bully makes.

Biggest plus: he may be gettable, if we’re giving up Bill Walker

if NO was interested in trading Mustafa for him. If we’re signing a current FA, id like to see what Law has in him. He can play, but hasnt quite found a niche yet. We could either drop Mason, or move Bully for a 2nd rounder. I want to see how Bully responds to losing his minutes though, so hopefully nothing involving him is imminent.
