2010 draft

Anybody have any thoughts on the Knicks 2010 draft picks? I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'm somewhat optimistic. There are a few good-looking 7-footers (Jerome Jordan, Art Parakhouski) who could fall toward the middle of the second round, as well as Solomon Alabi who probably wont, but whose length and upside might be worth trading up for. There are a few tall point guards (Alexey Shved, Greivis Vasquez) who will probably be within our draft range as well, along with Lance Stephenson, who, if he grows up a bit, could be a danged good scorer in the nba. I know the hubbub about the free agents this summer isn't over nothing, but if we don't cash out and sign a big name this summer, we could do worse than pick up a backup lead guard who will be an instant mismatch and a big fellah who could guard the biggest and ugliest player the other team has, and who could keep D.Lee over at the 4, where he'd be one of the better power forwards in the league instead of a center who does really fucking well considering he's too short and handsome to match up with the big and ugly.

Its a damn deep draft, actually. With the usual influx of foreign players in the draft and the usual amount of dumb dumbs that think they are lottery picks, there’s gonna be a player or 2 to slip to the Knicks.

Would’t surprise me if they buy another first round pick from some team.

Sometimes, if you aren’t picking in the top 5, being where they are at could be better! Who knows how far David Lee or WillChan would have fallen in their drafts…I don’t think they were too high on many teams wish lists.

I just hope they look at some experienced college players instead of foreign projects that never pan out.

I thought for sure they’d buy at least one draft pick. The Knicks are fine with spending money, as long as it doesn’t go against the cap. Draft picks have to be paid, though, so they might not buy a pick if it would cut into free agent money.

I feel you

but I really like his game, and he’s really young, so you never know. He could mature. Personally I think it would be a mistake for him to declare this year rather than waiting another year or two, but if he’s still on the board late he’d be worth considering.

i live in coney island

I played ball with bassy(sebastian telflair) and if he passed me in the street we would chat it up…the knock he gets about being cocky is false, in coney he knew he was the best ball player, and showed it on the court, but he is a great guy to hang out with. Stephenson is a few years younger than me, and I played once or twice with him, he comes off as an ass, and dominates the ball, rarely looking to pass…but he is also a great talent, I doubt he enters the draft this year, but if he does the knicks would be lucky to hae him sitting there in the 2nd round, but I would be cautious of drafting him, bc he will remain in an environment that he’s comfortable with (and that’s a bad thing)…he has the potential to be an explosive scorer(brandon roy) but have his fair share of off the court issues(ron artest)…I think he’s too young and wreckless to be given so mch money, and return to the hood he grew up in

Thanks for the insight guys. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I hope for his sake he does well, it would be a shame to see a talent like that go to waste.
