D'Antoni even said he wanted to give rookie Toney Douglas, another scoring guard, a look. Clearly time to move away from Duhon.

what took so long?

You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there

They probably never believed in Duhon

but wanted to pretend so that he could at least get the team through this year. They’ve beaten the dead horse enough so now they’re giving up on him. That means it’s NateRob/ToneyD the rest of the year and/or Walsh hopes to bring in another PG by the deadline.

Its just a challenge to Duhon

to win his spot back. Everything is temporary. A couple games of this, a couple games of that.

exactly...

I wouldn’t be surprised if by next week, Duhon is the main man in the rotation again.

Could be sooner if/when Bonehead Nate shows up again.

I watched most of the second half

and while Nate still doesn’t really look like he knows how to initiate the offense, it still can work if Lee and Chandler are helping him out.

and silly as it sounds

jeffries. initiating the success of our offense and our defense?? is it really possible??? can we trade this guy?

Of course we can trade him

We’re not making the playoffs, and we need that $6 mil in cap space, unless Donnie thinks he can swing something like Curry/Jeffries for Arenas/Young in the offseason

anything to keep

duhon on the bench..
i like the addition of larry hughes as the backup two guard with either nate or td at the 1. dunot has regressed tremendously.. he can be wide open and will hesitate, then pass.. he wont even drive on a fast break when no one is ahead of him..

with pg a important tool as it is..let alone in dantoni’s offense.. we cant afford to lose the rest of the season with dunot as the pg.. check the stats.. as the point plays well.. the knicks win.

by semsemma on Feb 4, 2010 11:30 AM EST reply actions

the only issue

is the decision to start nate.. i like the idea in a best case scenario of him complementing everyone, being aggresive and swishin’ and dishing.. but his role of 6th man has to change. he cant be starting at point if hes gonna be jacking up shots ala sixth man-like.

hes going to have to slow his “wild firing madman, john starks role” down. but like i said, at this point.. ANYTHING OVER DUHON STARTING.

by semsemma on Feb 4, 2010 11:33 AM EST reply actions

i'm confused

a month ago nate was the reason we lost games. i thought that was bogus stats combined with bogus journalism.

so are they now going to say the opposite? that we lose because of duhon? i hate everything.

everyone better agree now to be happy with nate playing how he plays best. attacking furiously. don’t ask him to pussyfoot like duhon.

not so much Nate...

but TD.

Rectum? Damn near killed em!

by FreeBradshaw on Feb 4, 2010 12:04 PM EST up reply actions

it's possible for both things to be true

i think that Nate has improved his game after the benching, and has become more than the chucker that he used to be.

i also think that duhon, once a competent PG and the only guy willing to run the pick and roll, is now useless in this new offense that runs through Lee at the top of the circle.

the only problem is that this process of teaching nate and phasing out duhon should have happened last year around this time. but what can we do now?

by latrell chokewell on Feb 4, 2010 12:17 PM EST up reply actions

we can only

continue to materialize nate with some more of dwtdd. knick fans and hopefulyl D’ant has lost faith in duhon. he has went from having a decent game once every week.. to once every 3 weeks

by semsemma on Feb 4, 2010 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

well i think everyone saw this coming

the only thing is why did it take so long to realize that nate should start over duhon and douglas needs pt.

Mike James

what about those Mike James rumors? I’ve always liked that cat, he’s a playmaker. a good point. a local guy (mt. vernon whatup) and is badly underused in washington. i had to work so i couldn’t watch the game last night, but i heard he got some rare burn. i wouldn’t trade him for anyone in our rotation though. (duhon being the exception). Darko would look good at the end of their bench. plus he’s got an expiring. it’s a bandaid. that’s all.

DWTDD

Keep Duhon on the bench where he belongs

I just want Nate to show us he can run this team

that will make it easier for Pringles to give Toney some burn

bbbuutttttt maybe not?

i just read a nice stat

nate had 8 assists, but what the stats don’t show is that 5 of those assists were on made 3 pointers.

say what you will about nate’s pg capabilities, but dude can score. and one of his strongest abilities is finishing at the hoop. he made the defense collapse and that freed up shooters. duhon was pretty much allowed to waltz into the lane because he wasn’t a threat to make lay ups. that left defenders all up on gallinari et al. and thats why duhon made bizarre kick out lobs that were scarier than cross court passes through traffic.

d’antoni adapted, and made the team defensive-minded, to a certain degree. but now maybe he can teach them to open up the floor. and it starts with a pg who can attack. i just hope he doesn’t give up on this because duhon really sucks it.

Dunno

if any of those 5 were to Gallo… but is it pure coincidence that he made 4 of 5 threes? Possibly because of more open looks from N8’s kickouts?
