Game Thread Knicks vs. Bucks- 2/5/10

Milwaukee Bucks at New York Knicks, Feb 5, 2010 7:30 PM EST

Evening, blokes. The Knicks and Bucks face off in just over 20 minutes. It's Brandon Jennings' first professional game at the Garden, but I'd bet the contents of my wallet that it's the other Bucks (Andrew Bogut, Ersan Ilyasova, Jodie Meeks) that really get work done against New York.

Meanwhile, Nate Robinson will be stepping into Chris Duhon's spot as starting point guard. The ripple effect of that rotation move should be verrrrry interesting.

Come and get it at 7:30, and don't forget to check the exemplary Brew Hoop for all things cervine.

Time running out

On trading Jeffries. Feels more important to me than our win-loss total for the rest of the season. I’ll watch and care no matter how terrible we are, but at least if we can get rid of that contract we have a more realistic chance at greatness.

Bogut

has a serious amish beard situation

by ibnyc on Feb 5, 2010 7:48 PM EST reply actions

also

i think clyde called him “yogurt”

by latrell chokewell on Feb 5, 2010 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

I think we need some Jordan Hill on Bogut.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 7:49 PM EST reply actions

sorry

am i the only one who thinks jennings kinda sucks? he’s a shitty kenny anderson. dude can’t shoot.

by riise on Feb 5, 2010 7:50 PM EST reply actions

yeah

i guess i just mean. doesn’t his career trajectory max out at Marbury? scoring guards often start off wowing people and then start to fade…

by riise on Feb 5, 2010 7:57 PM EST up reply actions

i dunno

i don’t think of him as a scoring guard. kid is such a great natural passer. if he never learns to pick the right shots, then he’ll suck, but i doubt that.

by Seth on Feb 5, 2010 7:59 PM EST up reply actions

hope so

for his sake. wasn’t marbury the same way?

by riise on Feb 5, 2010 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

but maxing out at marbury would be pretty excellent. marbury was really, really good.

by Seth on Feb 5, 2010 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

definitely

i just mean like, we shouldn’t be killing ourselves cause we didn’t get him necessarily. i don’t know that hes a guy you can win a championship with as your centerpiece.

by riise on Feb 5, 2010 8:03 PM EST up reply actions

tho

obviously this very much remains to be seen.

by riise on Feb 5, 2010 8:03 PM EST up reply actions

I mean...

Marbury was a pretty great natural passer too…he just would rather shoot a lot of the time than pass, and didn’t seem to really be a great leader.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

he is nothing like marbury....

he has really good vision and can pass the ball… he is terrible at finishing right now but seems to really come on in the 4th quarter…. he needs more reps jumpshooting but he will be very good…. the kid just turned 20 as well

Went to the game on Wednesday

Great second half and the kid on on guitar at half time was awesome. But the best part was the ride home to SI and hearing D’antoni anoint the job back to Nate the Great.

It’s all about who we keep and we dump. 2010 – 2011 is the year. A playoff run would be great but even with it this team is being turned over.

by christopherm on Feb 5, 2010 9:21 PM EST up reply actions

Is it a coincidence

the other team goes on a run while Harrington and Hughes are on the floor?

Rectum? Damn near killed em!

by FreeBradshaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:20 PM EST reply actions

well

harrington was certainly a perpetrator, but i think a lot of that run had to do with lee

definitely true as well.

no real post D lately. Honestly Gallo is possibly our best post defender, at least help D for sure.

by FreeBradshaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:23 PM EST up reply actions

it was mostly Al's time that has been poor.

He’s 6-16 tonight – barf

Gallo is somehow +3 tonight. Probably because he puts in effort on D…hmmmmmmmmmmm

These are the times Lee needs to take charge on the offensive end

He does it in the 1st quarter…then just goes away from it. I’d love to see him put up 30+ a little more often. He could easily if he got more shots in the 2nd half.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:25 PM EST reply actions

Eyo!

Pringles!!!

This is a perfect time to get every single one of these clowns out of the lineup. Just sit em all.

TD-Nate-Gallo-Jeffries-Jordan Hill.

Do it. Who gives a shit, these assholes don’t wanna play basketball and chuck it up from 18 ft.

by FreeBradshaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:28 PM EST reply actions

I would be fine with that lineup, though I think Hill takes Jeffries' spot and responsibilities well...

and I’ve liked how Hill and Lee play together…replace Jeffries with lee and go with it.

Strange lineup

we got Al at center right now

by ibnyc on Feb 5, 2010 9:32 PM EST reply actions

He did have a couple nice plays right before that

I wasn’t that upset with him putting it up based on the circumstances….

What really made me mad was the rebound that was in the air for like 5 seconds, and there wasn’t a Knick within 10 feet of it.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:37 PM EST up reply actions

Al has the mindset of a LeBron

but the talent of…well, Al Harrington

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:38 PM EST reply actions

actually that's a diss on LeBron and not true

my bad. He just thinks he can make anything happen on offense (which was got me thinking of a LeBron)…but LeBron likes his teammates…Al could learn from that.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:39 PM EST up reply actions

are you serious

Wilson jumped in the air, Mbah fell over…and that’s a foul

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:47 PM EST reply actions

gotta say

there has to be a foul one way or the other there…I’d think Jennings slamming into Danilo and pushing him could just be an offensive foul.

Also, this has been probably one of the worst officiated games I’ve seen in a long time. Started out allowing a ton of contact, which was alright, b/c it went both ways. But to change the style of officiating mid game is bull…they called a lot of ticky-tacky stuff in the 2nd half, and now they’re just being inconsistent.

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:49 PM EST reply actions

actually he boxed out, but the ball went over the head of the guy he was boxing out...

boxing out kinda pushed the player towards the ball, which was “out”

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:51 PM EST up reply actions

Na he didn't do it completely he did bump the guy but never put him on his back and blocked him out

if he did they would have never got the rebound. he just kinda bumped him thats not boxing out

by TJF2787 on Feb 5, 2010 9:55 PM EST up reply actions

so he needs to grab hold of him and be called for foul?

The ball flew about 5 feet past where Lee was. How can he stop the guy behind him, from getting the ball that is behind him?

by jlaw on Feb 5, 2010 9:57 PM EST up reply actions

you don't need to grab him but if he had squared him on his back and pushed him back once the shot went up he should of had ample time to block him out far enough to get that rebound

I see what your saying about the long rebound but what Lee did wasn’t boxing out not how i was taught anyway if he had he or another person (besides the guy he was blocking out) would have gotten the rebound. we didn’t lose the game on that one play but it is part of the problem

by TJF2787 on Feb 5, 2010 10:02 PM EST up reply actions

Things that suck:

The Knicks, Harrington’s bball IQ, Nate Robinson’s d-fense, Gallo’s shooting, Brandon Jennings’ haircut and shenanigans

by Rigsay on Feb 5, 2010 10:00 PM EST reply actions

David Lee's defense

Larry Hughes tatoos and Chris Duhon’s existence miraculously don’t make this list?
