Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

WHAT TDHD UP TO THIS POINT

TD on seeing the season's point guard carousel in front of him up this point:

“It wasn’t that tough,” Douglas said of his extended apprenticeship. “I’m mentally strong. If I don’t play, I’m still going to work out, still do what I have to do and get extra work in and stuff like that. All I know is that whenever I get an opportunity, I have to produce.” - NYT

I'm thinking his nickname, after everything we've seen and heard, should be Stance.  Any takers?

I mean, come on.

And I'm not feelin Ghostface

he deserves a knickname, not a college one

Anyway, you should check out the movie "Black and White," which actually stars Allan Houston. It’s not a comedy, but rather a really serious and emotional movie. - Wilson Chandler

I’m really feelin DWTDD “like a tribe called quest you say the whole thing”

‘pimp named slickback’ reference?

by tz88 on Mar 17, 2010 4:17 PM EDT up reply actions

DWTDD is his nickname.

Ghostface is his alter ego.

Cuz “Tony Stark” reminds me of John Starks, so yea..that stays too.

neerroo

DWTDD is his name….ghostface is his game.

Toney does what the douglas do. And no one can do what he does b/c doing it without being Toney Douglas just doesnt make it do what it do

i always thought of dwtdd as more of a mantra than a nickname

partly because it’s a complete sentence, but who knows with memes these days.

by Seth on Mar 17, 2010 9:36 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah

But everybody in the threads calls him DWTDD, mantra or no.

Yea

I mean while TD will always DWTDD, using it as a proper noun makes no sense, especially when uttered and not written. “Pretty” Toney Douglas is not only gangster as fuck, but also easy for the layman, grammatically correct, and able to be used in conjunction with DWTDD. And its got that 70s vibe, IMO, the apex of basketball nicknaming.

Always kinda liked "Clamps"

I’ve seen that one for him before. I understand the others but yeah DWTDD is the mantra and not a proper name. ;)

By the way Seth? Did you send TD his shirt for his birthday? You did say when this started he would get one.

i tried to contact the knicks to send him one once

they never responded. i don’t exactly have the guy’s address.

by Seth on Mar 17, 2010 2:42 PM EDT up reply actions

hmmm...suppose that could be difficult. Unless you actually visit MSG occasionally.

Likely best not to send it unannounced in a plain brown wrapper though ;)

im going with

“Sheriff McGruff: The Law Dog” (or “McGruff” for short) because Toney will take a bite out of crime, as well as any defense and necks, if given the opportunity. He doesn’t take nonsense and expects civility and responsibility from those around him. A hero to the children, as they say.

Plus, McGruff is a fucking badass.

For those that don't know, Yo I'm Herb McGruff

I’m on some murda stuff and when I talk very verb is rough

If it would get Jack Black courtside

I’m all for it. Black’s from Topanga in LA so he’s probably a Laker fan, but then again, he’s a Ronnie James Dio fan, so all bets are off.

tds new nickname

im not worried bout the nickname. i just hope he’ll give up #23 for Lebron next year.

by CarneyMan32 on Mar 27, 2010 2:26 AM EDT reply actions

pretty sure lebron is giving up the #23 anyhow.

he filed for changing it to #6 if he stays in cleveland.

To me, this is not news, and i am ashamed that i know such a useless fact :(
