Ken Berger CBSSports Article on Kobe, Knicks, and Walsh's Thinking

A lot of what Berger says makes me feel good about the summer, especially the bit about not signing Bosh to a max contract instead of Lee for less if he's the only superstar coming to the Knicks. Same thing for Joe Johnson. I would like to think that the Knicks could resign Lee this summer along with perhaps a quality center heading into the summer of 2012 with Carmelo and Durant. Imagine signing one of those guys with Lee still in the mix, a solid center, and the continued growth of the youngsters we have. That would mean:

PG Douglas / Backup?

SG Gallinari / Backup

SF (Durant or Carmelo) / Chandler

PF Lee / Chandler

C Quality Center (Camby or Dalembert for 6M?)

As for the talk about possibly signing Bryant if James falls through, I'm at least listening, although I'd probably prefer building more slowly into 2012 if it means a younger, more developable core with a young, certifiable no. 1 like Melo or Durant.
