i figured out our big problem

our in ability to rebound a missed shot buy one of our guys; if a coach is telling his team to concede the missed shot in favor of getting back on d then he wants his plays to sprint back. however in our situation when the shot goes up we just stand and watch while the other team rebounds and gets deep into our end of the court on transition.

i wouldnt even say chan or lee because both commit turnovers that are easy to avoid

Tmac is about it, gallo rarely has the ball and passes it when he does have it but he has shown high iq with timely blocks and somewhat good position on the low post with mismatches

I have to respectfully disagree, sir!!! There is no way a Lebron is coming to NY with that excuse you guys have as “Coach.” D’Antoni’s D cannot Defend teh lowly Nets, how is lebron gonna come to a team like that.

Not true. Brown is not an offensive coach, but he surely is a defensive coach. Brown is like Jeff Van Gundy

by KJV on Mar 6, 2010 9:22 PM EST up reply actions

LeBron didn't step his defense up until last season, and even then he's not a good man on man defender all he does is do those 1-2 highlight reel blocks and 1-2 gamble steals

ever wonder why he never guards a decent player, and when he does they usually go off on him?

"I guess I'm gonna fade into Bolivian." --Mike Tyson

by Rohpuri on Mar 6, 2010 9:24 PM EST up reply actions

5 points for u nets fan

1. We don’t actually care for lebron, we know he’s good and we’d like him but we rather just get better overall
2. Every player that is used to winning and has played for dantoni says he’s wonderful and loved playing for him
3. We don’t have a center and the refs been giving the calls to the nets
4. No one in their right mind would play in that swamp called the meadowlands nor would they want to be unsure where they will play for the next years so the losing is for nothing because the percentage of failure for the nets is extremely and tragically high
5. Half of this team will not be here next year, thus making this season a wash

1. Maybe you don’t, but i’m sure most posters here disagree with you.
2. As my Nets kill you, let me tell you somethig. Players who say they love D’antoni say that because you can have huge numbers playing for him in his 7 sec. or less system.
3. Stop making excuses for the defenseless Knicks. Excuses are the tools of the weak and incompetent.
4. Press conference about the Nets Playing in Newark was yesterday. Visit njnets.com to see it. Groundbraking ceremony for Brooklyn is on Thursday. There’s no uncertainty, sir!!!
5. oh, never mind. Did you see Courtney Lee’s buzzer beating three just now!!!

And so said the old man!

by KJV on Mar 6, 2010 9:33 PM EST up reply actions

irrelevant and lack of substance is wat i think of ur points

Actually I feel bad for u. Your a nets fan and if ur from nj then u should be upset because their coming to brooklyn. Its not an excuse, its fact that david lee is our center at 6"9 and we’ve been exploited for weeks in paint because of that. And fyi good players post big numbers, great players see potential for extraordinary numbers.

Seriously most players today don’t play for the love of the sport evident by david lee holding out til the end of the summer for 10mil instead of acknowledging that we need to get better and buying into the donnie walsh plan which is why I don’t want to bring him back because he is not a leader and does not deserve 10mil a year

In Donnie We Trust!

by IB on Mar 6, 2010 9:43 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

yes..cuz Walsh specifically tried to make the Knicks better in 2009 for Pringles.

He took away nothing and added parts to the star-ladden core of the Knicks in order to help them win, but Pringles just couldn’t get anything out of it.

Master of the squeegee

by FreeBradshaw on Mar 6, 2010 9:33 PM EST up reply actions

look i get that the team sucks, but i'm still not impressed

he puts players in the doghouse, has erratic rotations, doesn’t bring Dfense, they can’t execute plays out of timeouts (see every last second play of a game/quarter) and i hate his goofy press conferences where he shrugs and laughs. Guys like playing for him cuz he lets them run up and down and doesn’t stress D. The fact that he never got passed the 2nd round with a Nash/Amare/Marion team in their prime tells me all I need to know

by Rigsay on Mar 6, 2010 9:36 PM EST up reply actions

OK

We’ll see.

All I’m saying is there’s nothing at all to draw conclusions from. He’s in a tough situation, as most of the players on the team they aren’t a part of this teams plans..cuz its basically talked about every day.

If he fucks up next year with a team…OK.

As for right now…..no one knows. The plan was always for him to coach the 2010 team, so maybe let him do that first

Too many people complain about defence but no 1 on this team was known for defence before he came and most of them were already scolded for defensive low IQ’s. And this a coach that actually made jeffries look better

also Hughes was one of the best defenders on the team, then MDA got the brilliant idea to bench Lebron’s boy for 15 games straight without explanation.

Good job coach!

Hughes?

For real?

A man needs an excuse to bench Hughes? He sucks, that’s why he was benched

Master of the squeegee

by FreeBradshaw on Mar 6, 2010 9:46 PM EST up reply actions

well thats an easy 1

Ego. Look at who has failed defensively and who has picked it up. Gallo, sergio, will, and even lil eddie and td. Tmac can’t be judged. Now look at who constantly fails bricks, bender, lee and duhon. Lee is ok on man to man but is atrocious on help and even though its apparent now, he always had that problem. Now at this point most players are looking toward to ending the season. But as you can see over the last three games gallo and will have started to come out their shells a little more because they realize its up to them. There are only 3 guaranteed contracts next year. Also, when they started slumping in january u have to remember that hughes was upset and that came after the n8gate. So once again ego is the culprit even if players won’t say it but by the looks of things their now playing for contracts

In Donnie We Trust!

by IB on Mar 6, 2010 9:57 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

right and MDA's job is to manage egos

you don;‘t think every team in the league isn’t filled with malcontent jerkoffs making the middle level exception and thinking the world revolves around them?

by Rigsay on Mar 6, 2010 9:59 PM EST up reply actions

As filled as the Knicks are? No

Master of the squeegee

by FreeBradshaw on Mar 6, 2010 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

yes i do and if u notice, those teams are the ones losing, trading or they have a superstar that keeps them in check

Ex: kobe-artest or jackson to the bobcats
In the end players are commodities and what they bring to the table makes them valuable. Harrington is not valuable, hughes wasn’t valuable, jeffries increased his value from coaching by mda, and curry is definitely not valuable evident by portland and houston needing a big and both passed on him

Good recap

and great reminder from ‘Serious Garbage Time’.
Let me quote:
“Exactly 10 years ago the Bulls tried the same technique of tanking a season for cap space. Nobody of note signed with the Bulls and they were spurned by Tracy McGrady among others. So they signed Ron Mercer (!) with their cap space.
Their record the next season? 20-61”
