How would you like to have Rajon Rondo as your point Guard Knicl Fans? You just might have him his Name though is now Toney Douglas

Now before some of you call me a madman again, if you look at Rondo as a rookie and Douglas's rookie campaign they are more alike than they are different.

Here is a brief comparison

Rondo                                      Douglas

Min: 23.5                                   19.4

Fg%: .418                                 .458

3pt% : .207                               .389

FT%: .647                                  .809

Ast. 3.8                                        2.0

TOV: 1.8                                      1.0

Stl: 1.6                                         0.8

Pt.s 6.4                                       8.6

PER: 13.1                                  14.9

As you can see Douglas on paper as a rookie held his own with Rondo. Rondo had nearly twice as many assists, but that was counter balanced by nearly twice as many turnovers. In fact their assist/turn over ratios were almost identical 2:1 for Douglas to 2.1:1 for Rondo. Rondo had twice as many steals but that has to do with the style of defense that he plays.  However if you look at the numbers, there is a good indication that Toney Douglas could be an effective point guard as he gets more minutes just as Rondo grew into his role.  Therefore, it may be a waste of time for Donnie to look for and overpay point guards, when he has Douglas.

I think virtually every Knick fan would have approved if Donnie has worked out a deal for Rondo before the start of last season.  Well folks Donnie just might have although he got him through the Lakers instead of Boston.
