Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Houston will play a large part in the Knicks’ pursuit of LeBron James, et al., starting July 1 with what he calls a "unique" perspective, albeit from a different side of the equation.

After all, he’s been there, done that.

"I want them to have the potential to experience what I’ve experienced and take advantage of this place, the market, the people, the fans, the brand," said Houston, the Knicks’ assistant to the president of basketball operations and their fourth-leading scorer after leaving the Pistons for New York in 1996. "That’s my goal."

Excellent article by Steve Adamek on Allan Houston and the other parties involved in recruiting free agents. The Knicks' last big free agent (with regards to clout, not size) will play a crucial role in New York's "sales pitch".

Interesting article

Although it should be noted that Gabriel failed in his attempt to lure his primary target in free agency; Tim Duncan.

Yea, but everyone knew Tim Duncan wasnt goin anywhere.

Toney does what the douglas do. And no one can do what he does b/c doing it without being Toney Douglas just doesnt make it do what it do

Yea I was def a huge Houston fan too

I’m glad he’s w/ the organization in some capacity. I wish they could have found a spot for Patrick too, he deserved to have been a part of this Org as well….

The funny thing is that even though Allan Houston had some huge games, he was only league average for his career. It’s very easy to get a league average shooting guard, yet he got $100 million for it. He must still feel guilty about it.

He was on the team for offense, yet the team’s offensive rating was always bottom 5. However, it could be that the style of play just made offense inefficient for both teams.

*pause*

"I am not now at all sure that the tendency to treat the whole thing as a kind of vast game is really good - certainly not for me who find that kind of thing only too fatally attractive." - J R R Tolkein

Looking forward to next year

So we’ll either have Toney, Michael, Gallo, D-Lee, Patrick or Toney, Gallo, Scottie, D-Lee, Patrick with Chandler and Walker off the bench?
