Knicks will look to package Chandler in a trade
So after the Warriors deal, where we essentially clogged up the SG spot, news is Walsh wouldn't be opposed to trading Curry's contract to get a shooter. He'd have to pack it with another player, and sources say that player would most likely be Chandler. Make no mistake, he's not on the trading block, but the Knicks are exploring options to get a big-shooter with an expiring deal, most likely Tayshaun Prince, Troy Murphy or Mike Dunleavy. I don't like the deal, seeing as we have enough shooters already, and can package the deal for a seriously good player like Carmelo or Tony Parker should San Antonio or Denver want to clear up cap room. Curry is a huge asset, and I wouldn't want to see it getting used like this. The guys would make us an even better team, but we can get SO MUCH more for Curry's deal that I'd like Walsh to keep him for now. What do you guys think?

we should try to get reddick trading chandler in a package with curry for those guys in that list is not worth it. those options of guys suck . i feel chandler is way better then any one of those guys. maybe if they just trying to gutt out all of isiah players i understand that . but that will be a dumm move i think the roster we got with the russian 7.1 foot center. is great, we should try to resign nate robinson, he is lebron, wade in a smaller body…
Nate definitely isn't "LeBron in a smaller body"
And Chandler definitely isn’t beter than T.Murphy or Tayshaun Prince. I was just saying that we can get more for them, so if that’s the best Walsh can come up with, he shouldn’t pull the trigger just yet.
I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious.
Vince Lombardi
Can't get Reddick
he signed an offer sheet with the Bulls, so he’s either going to be the Bulls starting SG or the heir apparent to VC in Orlando. He would be an excellent fit in the lineup though.
I like Chandler, and I think trading him for Tayshaun would be a waste because I don’t want TP in the starting lineup, which is where D’Antoni would try to stuff him.
Nate absolutely is LeBron in a smaller body.
If Nate was 6’8, he would be LeBron.

at least athletically.
LeBron in a smarter player, but LeBron is a foot taller version of Nate that somehow kept all his athleticism.

may be a good comparison...
Nate acts like a 15 year old kid too…LeBalls too.

I like Nate Robinson and all...
But can I please get some of that kool-aid you’re sipping on?
Troy Murphy would easily be my choice there.
He’s really, really underrated. 15 pts on 47% shooting, shoots 38% from 3, 80% from the line, gets 10 boards a game, 1 steal, and half a block as well. He’d be a nice starting C for us for this year, me thinks.
And
plays defense like Donnie Walsh in a wheelchair

hey, that wheelchair is a tough obstacle on the court
anyway, for a one year expiring deal, I might not mind him out there. Maybe we go through some of training camp and see what we have, and if we’re not happy with moz gov and whoever else we have, I would not be upset with this option, that’s all.
no, really, the D is awful
The Pacers were much much better when Troy Murphy did not play. Check the record, and look at http://www.82games.com/0910/0910IND.HTM.
agreed with your assessment moose
seems like the longer we hold curry and chandler, the more valuable they will become. Could get more than this lot with that combo. Though I have always liked dunleavy and he’s a much better shooter than Chan, Silent Will’s versatility and age make him more valuable all-around.
Troy Murphy…he’s good, and could be the big man with range that D’Antoni has been waiting for. But is that who you want to land with our biggest trade chips?
Maybe we value those 2 more than the rest of the league does.
"Game Knows Game"
absolutely not.
I consider Chandler our sleeping giant. I wouldn’t trade him for any of those guys. And watching Tayshaun Prince play gives me a headache (just putting it out there, not my argument at all.)
GANG GREEN ALL DAY!
You see, it's not about how you won the game, it's about how you played the game.... there's a difference.

I agree
Thanks king for knowing what i know. ok maybe im a lil out of hand with the nate thing. but Will the Thrill is going to be an ALLSTAR. now with the aggresive group we got will help chandler to break out of that shy shell and turn into beast mode trust me….
I think the real issue with moving Chandler stems from his drug bust
If the guy is getting high, I could see Donnie viewing him as a risk and one that he might not want to invest longterm dollars in.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:29 PM EDT up reply actions
Seriously?
c’mon man…“drug bust?” They caught him smokin a blunt with one of his boys in the car. Its decriminalized in NY…the dude probably got a $100 fine. That is awful reasoning for trading him away. I’m not against doing it to get better players, which I think Prince and Murphy are…but if thats the reasoning for it, I ain’t down with it.
Donnie's bout to beat the NBA game like he got a cheat code
its not decriminalized and not a fine. you do get locked up. them pigs is insane

I don’t remember if they got caught smokin it or just had some on them though.

If all he do is ees smoke de blunt, he not de criminal. he hus fine, mon. ok
Tell it to Donnie man! All I am saying is that it seems their attitude about Will's
future with the club has changed since the. Hey it is a business, You are about to invest mutliple millions of dollars in a guys for the next 5 or 6 years, you want to be careful.

I really don't want Prince
And don’t want Dunleavy either with his injuries recently. Murphy I like, but I do see the argument that we could get more than Murphy with those two.
Then again, who really knows? Maybe CP3 or Collison get hurt, and NOH does not trade either, and maybe Melo signs that extension and Denver looks like a very serious contender, and they don’t trade him at the deadline like some of you are praying.
Considering Curry will not play at all, it’s basically Chandler for Murphy. Also considering both expire this year…I’m not so sure I wouldn’t prefer Murphy.
Murphy just fits.
flat out.
Not really sure on how he’d fit in a P&R, but that’s what Amare’s for isn’t it?
Murphy basically IS David Lee, except a good 3pt shooter, with the rebounding (excellent) and defense (not so good) to match.
Bye, Lee :(
by FreeBradshaw on Jul 11, 2010 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Why wouldn't you want Prince?
He is a long athletic shut down defender who can guard multiple positions from point guards to power forwards and he can step out on the floor and knock down threes. In fact he is Jared Jeffries with a Jump shot. Since I have come on this site guys have been knocking pringles for his lack of coaching defense. Well in order to coach defense you need to have guys you can play defense, Prince is a proven elite level defender, this is a guy who can step on the court and hold a Lebron, a wade, or even a Kobe in check, I can say that because he has done it! Plus he is a veteran with big game and playoff experience. Of all the guys that were mentioned in the post, he is the only one I would want, Lock down defenders like him are a rare commodity, and players with big game and championship level experience with a history of playing well in those situations are even rarer. Prince is exactly the kind of guy who could end up getting traded to the Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, or the Heat and end up putting them over the top. So if we made the playoffs this year, why wouldn’t we want a guy with his resume on the roster?
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Because he'll stunt someone's growth?
Bringing in tayshaun will kill Gallo’s growth as a player, because Mike will want to start him, forcing Gallo out of position at the 2. Tayshaun is in the downswing of his career, so trading Chandler who hasn’t evenr eached his prime yet, for someone who is slowing down and would only be there for one year makes no sense.
If anything you go for Murphy, we don’t have any bigmen on the Roster who can shoot, and thats an asset for Speed game that D’Antoni likes to run. And Dunleavy’s a waste, that guy is never going to be able to stay on the court, at this point he;s McGrady, flashes of awesome, but then his knees start to hurt and he’s out for months.
D'Antoni wouldn't start Prince over Gallo, Gallo is the better scorer and we will
Need someone other than STAT to score, but prince is an asset because he could come in and guard almost any position on the floor and do a damn good job, also he is a good enough shooter and offensive rebounder that his man could not totally ignore him on the defensive end as teams did with Jeffries at times last year. So for example if we are playing the lakers and Kobe is lighting someone up, but we are still in the game, he could bring prince in to guard him. If the next night we are playing the heat and Lebron is going off, well Prince has a history of guarding Lebron tough too. He gives you an option on the defensive end of the floor without losing the ability to stretch the floor.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions
not what I'm saying
I was saying that Gallo would of course start, but get shifted to the 2. Which is a bad place for him since at 6’ 10" he can’t defensively keep up with a 2, and on offense, he’s a little too slow to break away from most guards, he does his best work over sizing a 3, or being too quick for a 4.
I am saying Gallo would stay at 3, if Pringles really wanted to start prince
He would probably play him at the two spot.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t think he’s enough of a shooter to be at the 2. He averaged 1.5 3pt attempts agame last year. So if you want to stratch the floor, its gotta be someone who’s a better perimeter shooter.
Again Agree, but also look at the offense he was playing in
Also I believe that Prince would come off the bench, and if he did start it would sort of be in the designated defensive stopper role, kind of how Pringles used Bell when he had him.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Also I agree with you that Gallo should never play the two
the guy was a power forward in Europe and is being stretched to play the 3 spot now.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions
I agree with you about Dunleavy, the guy always seems to be hurt
But he is intriguing to the Knicks I think because his shooting and passing ability is top notch. he could be a nice fit as a back up for Gallo. But I do not believe even in a role where he was playing 18-20 mins a night that this guy would stay healthy enough to make it worth our while.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions
I feel like Prince is Jared Jefferies but uglier.

Curry's contract + Chandler for a shooting big man?
That sounds pretty bad to me. On the other hand we need to give Donnie some credit right now. He’s looked pretty ingenius over the last few days transforming our roster from suckish to competitve in a couple of nights. He’s already proved he’s smart and patient. He’s knows how valuable Curry’s contract and Chandler are, and he’s not going to waste them.
Possible returns on the deal I’m hearing right now:
Mike Dunleavy or Troy Murphy- I don’t care about their shooting. Both of these guys formed a losing core in Golden State. Then they got traded to Indiana and formed a new losing culture there. I’ll pass.
Tayshaun Prince- A shell of his former self. This is 2010, not 2003.
Rasual Butler- a very average shooting guard. He’s a nice player, but no more close to the value of Chandler + Curry’s contract.
Before you panic, just remember that Donnie has proved he’s not an idiot.
by StarksMiddleFinger on Jul 11, 2010 2:00 PM EDT reply actions
Damn...
I would rather a Chandler deal go for someone like Carmelo.
Tho I can’t lie…Troy Murphy is basically David Lee except can bomb from 3. If there ever was an ideal player to man the C for the Knicks with Amare, its Troy Murphy.
I hate to see all these Knicks that I’ve liked all these years just go away tho. But I guess the reality is Amare >> David Lee. And if they go for Troy Murphy, Murphy’s basically David Lee except the perfect compliment to Amare in Pringles O.
Its its gotta be anyone not named Carmelo Anthony, get Murphy on the phone. Our starting 5 would be stacked.
And also, Rasual Butler may be on his way, so that starting 2-guard spot is also probably locked down too.
Do what you gotta do Donnie. No Dunleavy tho please…he’s a 3pt shooter that can’t shoot 3’s.
Prince would be good too tho.
Bye, Lee :(
WHAT?
Troy Murphy is NOT a center…he’s a pick and pop guy that can’t guard anybody
by Zanderbot310 on Jul 11, 2010 4:43 PM EDT up reply actions
?
Him and Amare are perfect compliments. Pringles don’t really operate with a true C.

by FreeBradshaw on Jul 11, 2010 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions
But Pringles didn't win a championship either
so maybe he should get some more size that can guard people like bosh, garnett, howard, and gasol to name a few. YOu don’t want amare guarding them, he’s undersized and you want to keep him fresh and healthy.

lots of coaches didn't win a championship...
that doesn’t mean anything.

Tho as I read the article
they’re just “exploring it”. Not actively trying to deal him and Curry’s carcass.
I’d think this is something to look at by the trade deadline…not now.
Bye, Lee :(
by then
hopefully chandler proves he is worth keeping around. plus teams that realize their experiments have failed (minny, NO, Sactown?) will be desperate for some sweet, sweet cap relief and we can get more for less in the form of curry straight up.

so that Gallo doesn’t have to exclusively fill that role. And no, I’m not content with Andy Rautins.

I agree in D'Antoni's offense the more guys who can spred the floor the better
Now while I prefer Prince, Murphy can stretch the defense and he can rebound, which is something that I think all of us are a little owrried about with the team we have now.
by Robert Currence on Jul 11, 2010 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions
I'd rather see then swing a trade for a young big man shooter
Wilson Chandler for Ryan Anderson. Chandler gives Orlando what they don’t want to spend for Matt Barnes, and gives the Knicks what they want, a sweet shooting PF, who is mobile and young (without a long injury rapsheet). That would still keep Curry as useful playing chip.
I'm a pretty big Ryan Andersen fan
This would not be too terrible, though I feel Chandler has a little more value around the league.
Concentrate!
WE can’t just keep trading for players that are simply a good players, we need to look at the positions we need and who would fit into the system without blocking the development of our young players like Gallo, TD, and Randolph. I agree that Chandler alone for a proven shooter would be a nice pickup because we have other guys that play similar games to wilson chandler. I think a J.R. Smith or Leandro Barabosa would be good pickups if they did not come at the cost of eddy curry’s contract, which I think could be extremely valuable at the trade deadline before a possible lockout.
Follow me on twitter at zanderbot310 or follow my blog at http://thepostup.com
WE NEED TO TARGET A TRUE CENTER
to keep Amare at the PF position and ultimately to protect his health. Joel Pryzbilla? The Blazers are stacked at the position and could afford to give one of them up.
too much money
can’t shoot and too injury prone.
