Josh Howard meeting with Knicks
Thanks to babyeater26 for catching this while I was still peacefully asleep. Howard's a solid player, but with a bit of a glut at the 2 and 3 spots, this is a curious pursuit. -Seth

I just can't see why Howard would sign with the Knicks?
makes some sense for us, but the Wizards have space to give him some Mil’s.
Bye, Lee :(
Because it's New York?

TURRIBLE!
because he is being offered less money than John Salmons
and he is a better player than Salmons, and signing here where in pringles system he would have the chance to put up some good numbers would increase his value on the market, where next year he could sign a much bigger deal. That’s why

Agreed Seth.
Although, I do like Howard’s game immensly, especially his perimeter defence, why would we try to acquire him? We have a huge amount of talent and depth at the 2 and 3 position. Unless Walsh beleives that he can start at the 2 and is miles better then the rest of the depth we have(not really sure this could be the case) or he is considering trading assets(specifically chandler).
Thoughts?
it feels like he is gathering pieces doesnt it?
I am a fan of both the mets and knicks... so just kill me now.
That has to be it right?
but for what…speculate!

Exactly
We have so many pieces, some of these guys are goners eventually if you ask me, trading bait as far as I’m concerned.

not yet.
Howard isn’t back until the AS break apparently. If anything, you can look for the Knicks to deal then.
Bye, Lee :(

We actually may not have as much as you think in terms of depth
Walker has not instilled confidence that he can play a major role especially his defense, Azubuike is coming off injury and if he is al the way back he is a legit 2 guard, but he may ultimately be better or need to come off the bench to protect his knees., Pringles doesn’t want to use Chandler in the back court, and Rautins and Fields may not be ready for prime time. Howard gives us a good defender/rebounder/ and a guy who can consistently score. Azuibuike and Howard would give us better coverage at the 2 guard spot than we have now. D’Antoni would like to use Chandler at forward exclusively if he can get away with it this year. he will back up Gallo, and may even pull a few shifts at the 4 spot against certain teams.

Thats the thing...
We have no idea what team we might be trying to make a package for and who we will get at our end of the deal. I can only hope its for Carmelo, that’s our best case scenario, possibly trading and getting him before the yer even starts. gets us into the news for sure as instant contenders.

With all of these players we have acquired...
I’m almost positive we can’t trade them until september or october? Maybe i’m misinformed.

i think thats just for felton, amare and mozgov
qrich’s summer tour last year shows u can be re-traded right away
We can trade the Golden state guys, but not Felton Amar'e or the big Russian.
Remember Q rich was traded like 3 times before the start of last season.

you never kno
I mean donnie has pulled off some wicked deals. so he might have some sh!t cocked up while he’s stuck in new york in a wheel chair.

Donnie “Professor X” Walsh has something up his sleeve….I wouldn’t be suprise if it’s a sign/trade deal or wait before/during pre-season to trade Josh Howard with someone else(I believe it could be Wilson Chandler as stated by GonzoTheGreat) as an asset.
Can't do a sign and trade with Howard. if he signs with us he is ours until 12/15/10
And no sign and trade with the Wizards they renounced his bird rights and do not have enough cap room to reinstate them. No this would be a straight signing.

Umm Denver isn't trading Carmelo
In case you haven’t noticed, if they have everybody healthy they got a shot in the West this year. I am sure they are not worried if he does not sign the extension because push come to shove with the New CBA, Where ever he goes Melo is probably gonna want a sign and trade. No I believe this move is to help us this year, and is a possible trade chip the next.

The Knicks can never have too much talent at any position.
Even if the Knicks don’t end up taking part in a blockbuster trade, with all of the talent that they will have at thier disposal, they could adjust the line up to see what combination of players yields the most potency. Howard is a long shot but if he does cend up with the Knicks…then what?

Ho'ward's knee
is going to keep him out for quite a while. To me, it seems like this signing is for one of two reasons:
1. Donnie stocking up in case Walker doesn’t impress and Buike does the same and/or gets re-injured
2. He’s a piece to be dealt along with Eddy.

Howard will be back sooner than you think
I am in DC and word is he will be cleared to begin basketball related workouts either in August or September, All Star break was the initial prediction, but it appears that he could be ready to go by early December if he doesn’t have any setbacks. that is why the Wiz were interested in re-signing him. They weren’t originally.

The knicks are replacing Chandler who will be gone in a curry trade at some point.
by Markis ThatGuy Jones on Jul 14, 2010 6:41 PM EDT reply actions
The Knicks are not trading Chandler and Curry unless
They acquire a player who has an expiring contract or they intend to keep past this year. They come off the cap this year and give us cap space to sign a max guy, Donnie isn’t trading them just to trade them. that part of the deal is done. Now it is about acquiring players who can help us make the playoffs this year.
