ESPN Negative Lebron Article Mysteriously Vanishes, Here It Is!
I know everyone now hates LeBron James since he chose to play with Miami, and some of us even hated him before that but this deserves a read. I found this gem on a different Knick forum and wanted to share with P&T. A article written by ESPN's Arash Markazi vanished into thin air like the prisoner on Shutter's Island. No one knows why the story was removed but since the article does shine a bad light on Lebron's immaturity and partying smart money would bet on that.
About a dozen security guards, moving their flashlights, direct us to a roped off section on the dance floor of Tao next to a couple of apparently nude women in a bathtub full of water and rose petals.
Bottle after bottle of "Ace of Spades" champagne is delivered to the table by a waiter flying down from above like some overgrown Peter Pan on a wire. One time he's dressed like a King, another time as Indiana Jones and another in a replica of James' No. 6 Miami Heat jersey.
James, who can hardly see the flying figure through his tinted glasses, almost gets kicked in the head on the waiter's last trip down. He looks at the girls around him and says, "I wish they'd have one of these girls with no panties do that instead of the guy."
The more you hang around James, the more you realize he's still a child wrapped in a 6-foot-8, 250 pound frame.
He pretends to dribble a basketball as he walks past ringing slot machines and tourist who do double-takes. He stops every few feet to shoot a jump shot, his right hand extended above his head on the follow through.
He weaves through a pack of a dozen friends and pretends to connect on a layup as he walks past a gift shop. He passes overhead casino signs and jumps up and slaps them, pretending to dunk. Columns covered with advertisements become stationary defenders, chumps to fake out before connecting on imaginary mid-range jump shots.

I am a fan of both the mets and knicks... so just kill me now.
Isn't dude married though?
Doesn’t he have a wife and kid? Probably one of the reason why he didn’t want the story out. If his wife/ girlfriend found out he was partying with naked women all over there will be a whole lot of this for Lebron

not sure how i feel about the article
it’s very interesting, but it’s strictly reporting the details of a guy’s personal life. if he would have just done some analysis and said “these events clearly mean that LBJ is an immature douchebag not the leader of an NBA team,” then they could have just called this an editorial and stuck it on page 2. as it stands now, the article is probably too invasive and has zero NBA substance.
note: this does not preclude the possibility that LRMR Marketing had it pulled, but if ESPN did this on their own I wouldn’t blame them.

Let's be real here
The whole idea of not being invasive regarding this young man’s personal life went away a LONG time ago

LeBron goes to Vegas
Amare goes to Isreal. Don’t you guys feel like you came out ahead on this? Sometimes it’s more important to be able to root for your team than winning (and I say this as a pistons fan who was glad to be rid of Larry Brown).

didnt read the article
but from the no panty flyin wish lebron made….shyt.. im 25 and i would have made the same remark..especially wit some cham-pag-ne in me. no big deal to me lol
Toney does what the douglas do. And no one can do what he does b/c doing it without being Toney Douglas just doesnt make it do what it do
no that's totally cool
it’s the pretending to take jump shots and faking crossovers all day that worries me. between that and “the decision,” it’s clear that lebron is living in his own little world.
by latrell chokewell on Jul 28, 2010 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions
yea, i just read the article
all that tho.. he could be drinkin his own bathwater. It sounds like either he is drowning in lebron juice or he was just drinking and havin a good time..
he does seem to be immature for his age though… me and him practically the same age and i dont act that way when im at the club or a party or some shyt… and still wouldnt if i had million$
Toney does what the douglas do. And no one can do what he does b/c doing it without being Toney Douglas just doesnt make it do what it do
I wouldn’t have made that remark because it seems completely cheesy. This dude could be netting any girl in the room and he wants to see a girl “without panties” lowered from a ceiling. Sounds like a 15 year old kinda, which makes sense because he has arrested development written all over him. Who even says the word panties? Just seems silly, and the whole party is definitely realm of the absurd level. He made Big Baby shake his head, think about that.
I dont say panties.
And yeah, Big Baby may not be getting as much money and attention as Lebron is but there’s a difference between partying with your boys and sitting in VIP quietly drinking Ace of Spades and Big baby obviously knows that. Why do I need a flying waiter to ring me my drinks? Why is everyone at this dinner table extremely quiet? He wasn’t partying or having fun, he was enjoying the attention. Was all that shit necessary if your just gonna quietly sit and drink? Your in vegas and thats what you do for fun? No, thats what you do in vegas for attention. So i agree with you brother.

nah
I kinda think that it was made as a jokeand not as something he was really serious about.. i mean, your right, he could have had plenty of other bitches on his dick. And the panties/draws thing. It was quoted but shyt, the article was taken down for a reason.. i wouldnt put that much emphasis on using the word panties vs draws or any other word. He coulda said i wish it was a girl wit her pussy out.. lol.
Theres times up here where i talk like a cornball sqr.. especially being sarcastic wit the rest of yall. But someone could take that one quote from me and have it shown to others and make me sound like a complete fag.
The article shows to me how he is still 25 and feeds off attention. Nothing more.
I still remember the interview with rachael on espn. she asked if they had picked a nickname for the wade/bosh/bron tandem… and bron spoke first saying. “(giggles) we might to do another 1 hr special for that”… that pretty much sums up the all his actions written in that article… diva, attention getter.
Toney does what the douglas do. And no one can do what he does b/c doing it without being Toney Douglas just doesnt make it do what it do
Is there a real reason to pull out "the girl without panties" line from this article??
And then further discuss it in breakdown of detail??
Seriously guys?

King Zilch
Partying like he has a ring, with role players rolling their eyes at him… Even if he does win he still loses. Its not about getting rings. Its about leading to rings. Robert Horry has mad rings. Scottie Pippen got the same 6 that MJ has. A lot of people say Kobe’s first 4 didn’t count (i.e. can’t win without Shaq) . So even if Wade and Co. three-peat, Lebandon will get little to no credit for it. Hell, Gasol carried the Lakers to their last ring, but the cred will always be Kobe’s. The alpha dog gets the glory.
The Glen Davis part of the article had me rolling
“Toward the end of the night, Boston Celtics forward Glen Davis walks past James’ party and looks at the scene up and down several times like a painting in a museum, soaking in the images of the go-go dancers, the “King” sign and the costumed man delivering bottles of champagne.
Davis shakes his head and walks on."

dude's a clown
the one that’ll try and hold em down is Wade, but can’t forget Bosh is a clown too with an ego that outweighs his accolplisments.
People can knock the Knicks and Amare, but everything from the way Amare left Phoenix to the way he’s acting now….that’s the type of superstar I want on my team.

you re right about Amare. I was never a big Amare fan. The book 7 Seconds or Less doesn’t paint the best picture of him and I had just finished reading it before they signed him. He has definitely matured and the way he carries himself lately makes me glad he’s on my team.
Let’s just hope he delivers on the court.
Starks > Jordan
well that book was published in 2006
and most likely most of it is from 2005-2002 during Amare’s first 3 years. That means he’s about 23-24 at the oldest…and well, as we’re seeing with “The King”, that age is still a kid (I know…I am that).
These guys that never go to college also take a bit longer to mature, as their college years are in the NBA, where they really don’t have much structure at all…at least on their own time.
What Amare is now, is not who he is in that book.

So What??
He’s 25 years old….what do you expect?
Exactly
Hey I remember I did quite a bit of partying in my 20’s and Lord knows what I would have done if I had Lebron’s money. Maybe the story got canned because it was really a so what article. Other than the fact that the article suggests that Lebron can’t walk two feet without pretending he is on a basketball court, it was really a so what deal, Young rich guy goes to Vegas and parties with his friends, Isn’t that why 25 year olds go to Vegas?
by Robert Currence on Jul 29, 2010 9:55 AM EDT up reply actions
Well its more that
ppl expect him to be greatness off the court. not his fault really. but Its just being publicized now that he is concieted in a way.

Him being 25 and partying isn't the point.
The point is to show you how high on himself he is. He thinks the world revolves around him. I wont take the time out to quote lines to show this, but if you read the article you can see that he acts as if he is a king or some sort of high command. He feeds off of it.

He's been basically worshipped since he was 16
and has been the best basketball player in the world for the last 4 years if not longer. His acting entitled is just about the least surprising thing in the world.

I see what you're saying but in part disagree
because the best player in basketball is only partly stats. Kobe earns that right by sealing the deal even when his game wasn’t on. Entitlement doesn’t make him a champ either. It makes him a spoiled child who believes his own hype. I was even on board back when he had a good scrap going, I forgot what game, and said he wanted to change the face of basketball in so many words. Said he wanted to bring the hate and rivalry back. Well, to some degree he’s done that, but in the wrong way and for all the wrong reasons. Real men fight thru adversity. Real men lead by example. Real men make those around them better. And until you do it, you’re still not htru that door.
Amare can step over that threshold even before Lebron by leading this team with his fire and skills. He doesn’t need a complete game, he doesn’t need better stats. He needs to be the better man. Of course, that statement is a huge reach, but if it were to be accomplished and we closed out a playoff series over the heat, I would stand by that statement. Statistically, Lebron is the best player in basketball, in reality, that title belongs to Kobe Bryant.
Yea whatever
Put Lebron on the Lakers instead of Kobe and they would have won the last 3 years and the next 3 as well. All that rah rah bullshit about “real men” is insulting.

Didn't intend to insult you
just how little I think of guys like Lebron after this year, and it is just my opinion. I apply the same theory to Peyton Manning in football.
fine to have an opinion
but as much as we rag on Mr. James, amongst others… don’t think for a minute that he is any less of a man than 95% of the rest of the men in this world.
Dude is immature, but none of us can imagine the adversity and pressure he has faced starting when he was a teenager. This article isnt about that tho.
Its about a dude wanting to be center of attention and people catering to him.

I think we had this discussion MONTHS ago...
but I still disagree with this….yea the Lakers would still be a great team obviously, but could LeBron turn it up the way Kobe does? Does he have that killer instinct on the floor? Does he have the range that Kobe has and the ability to hit that clutch shot after clutch shot? True Kobe was off that last game of the finals and his teammates picked him up….so they prob could have done the same w/ LeBron….and LeBron prob would have won a title by now if he were w/ the Lakers (MAYBE)….but if we’re talking about best player in the game right now…imo it’s definately Kobe….
Obv we disagree here
but at this point, I think Lebron is more consistent in every facet of the game. He might not be able to “turn it on” like Kobe, but thats largely because he often doesn’t have to. He scores more, shoots a better %, rebounds more, and is a better passer.
Its a team game and Kobe has a totally sick team. Remember when they started Kwame Brown, Smush Parker and Walton? That team was barely .500 and couldn’t make it past the first round. You need the teammates to win, and now Kobe has em. That team is stacked.
At this point, I’d put Lebron, Wade, and Durant ahead of Kobe. Kobe owes Mitch Kupchack some thank-you notes.

agree with this....
Kobe has an excellent team. Lebron’s team didn’t exactly have a bad season with basically just a one man show…that tells you how good he is.
Lebron may not take (or make) the final shot on the Lakers, but you can bet your arse he’ll find the open man.
You win championships with a great team obviously, but Kobe has NOT shown that he can win with a pile of crap surrounding him, just like Lebron and Wade. He’s got a C, PF and SF all who are not out of position, but are all over 6"10. That’s a great team that these other guys don’t have anything close to.
…but I’d still take Kobe over anyone. He can do what all these guys do, but that damn snake bites you at the end of the game.

its the team that wins but the coach also plays a huge part in sculpting it
Had LeBron James landed in LA, you wouldn’t have found the Lakers front brass giving in to his every whim and worrying daily about whether or not LeBron was "happy’. He also would have had a coach who knows how to deal with top level talent (and matching top level egos).

People who say he’s just 25 and rich and partying, that’s ok. But there’s some level where you just become a completely lame douchebag, and it’s not about jealousy or wishin we could throw money around like that. It’s embarrassing, pathetic and makes him seem completely insulated and needy.
I’d rather see my favorite player getting tanked and puking in an alley than having some silly sideshow like this. That is partying my friends.
It's a weird world he lives in
If he doesn’t recognize that shit is fake, he could be in for a rude awakening someday. LeBron and Bosh, I think they do really enjoy the attention and the fame. Maybe they are interested in winning more for the fame and adulation it brings them than for the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
If so, that’s good news for any team trying to get past the Heat in the playoffs.
beating the heat will be easier than people think
i’ll be the coach hubie brown for you real quick:
for the defenders, the defensive side of the ball:
you’re gonna have to play…. a box and one. ok? put the one on the only shooter.
once the shooter is out of the game (… literally or figuratively, ok?), the extra defender can freelance. on the james and wade.
ok? no lay ups! you must: foul hard! they will start playing more: one on one basketball and making bad decisions on the basketball floor.
and of course, you must secure the rebound.
now. on offense!
ok, everyone has got to crash the offensive boards! its that simple. quickness and aggressiveness on the off missed shot for second and third opportunities is going to lead to more possesions and better chances. now they’re weak down low, so you’ve got to apply pressure on the glass.
also a high screen and roll, ok? with your point guard and your power forward is going to be essential over the course of a game, ok? wade and james will be weak side defenders, and you are going to draw bosh out to the three point line where he can’t block shots, ok?
and of course, you’ve gotta finish strong at the basket, in the painted area.
