Knicks Sign Andy Rautins
Pop bottles, y'all. The Knicks have officially signed fauxhawk'd guard Andy Rautins, the 38th pick in this year's draft. I haven't seen contract details (or any indication of similar transactions for Landry Fields and Jerome Jordan), but will assume that Rautins' deal is for 5 years and at least 400 million dollars. Rautins will start at point guard for the Knicks and also act as assistant coach.
For now, Andy is kicking ass and taking names with the Canadian national team.
Update:
Landry Fields sounds like he's close to a similar announcement:
Meetings meetings meetings.
If and when Fields and Jordan follow suit, the Knicks' roster will be at 15.

Nice to know
That he is whipping ass and taking names for the Canadian national team. I know he didn’t shoot well in SL, but he did everything else well. He could be good down the line

Right, that's what I'm saying.
He did everything well but shoot, and nobody is denying that the kid can shoot the house down.
I'm pretty sure somebody shoots a house down
in that movie “Showtime” with Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro. Not that I’ve ever seen it. Not that I own it on DVD.
I Am
Denying that he can shoot anything down.
Believe me, I watched this kid for 4 years and he only played his senior season because Eric Devendorf left early. Yes, he could not beat out Eric Devendorf.
This guy shot 40% from the field last seaon, and it was his best season! He shot in the 30’s for his career, and this against zones with a closer 3-point line. SU has a joke of an OOC schedule, and all the games are at home.
I cannot believe an NBA team drafted this guy, let alone at #38. I guess the 28% shooting at SL against undrafted FA’S was impressive enough to earn a spot.
dabutch? Are you back from the dead?!

Rautins' dad coaches the team
if that sheds any light on the legitimacy of the whole thing for you.

haha its about time
now 1 down 2 to go for signing our rookies
biggest move of the offseason
by far. glad to have this guy aboard.
If he’s going to make it in the league, feels like NY is the team for him.

What kind of details need to get ironed out before a second-round rookie signs? I thought rookie contracts were pretty much non-negotiable.
Actually no
I think that’s true of first rounders. Second rounders, the drafting team can decide whether to sign them or not – they don’t have to if they don’t want to.
They are working out the details

Your guess on his contract
made me lol. I guess I’m okay with having Rautins. He’s another guy that can provide back-up if one of our PGs go down
I would say that
behind Felton and Douglas, that Roger Mason or Azubuike would handle the ball more so than Rautins as the de-facto backup PG. THe less I see of him this season, the better. When your 12th man is called on to contribute on a regular basis, well you have our Knicks of the last 8-9 years.

Landry took an low level management job at a NYC technology marketing company. He is just a go getter like that, and 2nd round picks not being guaranteed felt he needed a back up plan.
His meetings are to discuss the value estimation relative to the gross income when the dataports are at max capacity.
I am a fan of both the mets and knicks... so just kill me now.
Got it off a dataport:
Max Capacity—he’s the man whose name you’d love to touch…
But, you musn’t touch!
His name sounds good in your ear
But when you say it, you mustn’t fear
Because his name can be said by anyone!
Nobody snuggles with Max Capacity, Marge. You strap yourself in and feel the Gs.
Kids: there’s three ways to do things; the right way, the wrong way and the Max Capacity way!
Isn’t that the wrong way?
Yeah, but faster!
