Carmelo Anthony wants out of Denver, and into New York. This union has been long awaited and to hear news that he is ready to move on from Denver is heartwarming. I want him just as much as the next die hard KNICK fan. I only worry that we loose to much by trying to get him too soon. He wants out now, but it's in our best interest to get him later.
If we try to go out and get him now, yes we will become a serious contender, and hearts will be lifted even further from the depths of recent KNICK'S history, but....we will most likely have to trade one or more of your favorite young players. AKA: Anthony Randolph, Danillo Gallinari, or even Wilson Chandler. Another thing goes unnoticed in a trade for Melo. If we were to aqcuire him now, it would most likely be a sign-and-trade deal which would include his $65 million three year extension. That is a hefty extension, so much so league officials predicted he would sign it. With the addition of that extension, it would most likely take us out of a CP3 signing in the future. If we wait, we could see ourselves in a situation of selflessness which our dear friends (Sarcasm) over on the heat carried out. This would presumably be Melo and CP3 taking less to win.
So what'll it be, fellow KNICKERBOCKERS, Melo now, or cross our fingers and get 'em both...later?
