i remember the game melo and gallo went toe to toe... mano y cocko... point for point.  i was thinking that if melo's goal is to win... wouldn't he want to go to a team that had pieces around him that complemented his game? so if he asks/demands for a trade, he's gotta know he's going to be weakening the team he's going to... witch goes against his own goal. 

so maybe he tries to stall 'til his free agency... so he can come to NY and have a perimeter threat like gallo around him and the other guys/role players to do the dirty work.
