For those of you who missed the games (myself included), deez here are Timofey Mozgov highlights from Russia's game against Puerto Rico (he swats Humpty!). I found this at Knicks Tweets, where you can also see Timmy's reel versus Turkey. (Videos made by TKB's own Pav).

I wonder how

“Get that shit outta here!” sounds in russian

at another note

I hope this guy is a fundamental stud. you see guys that are built to play basketball, then you see guys who are so fuckiing strict to the fundamentals of the game that they frustrate the guys who the game comes natural to… I hope Mosilgov is the fundamental guy who everyone hates being guarded by lol.

Not bad

If he can give us 15 solid minutes at C a night, I’ll be happy.

And is that Renaldo Balkman at 13 seconds into the vid?

by WSD on Aug 31, 2010 10:11 AM EDT reply actions

indeed it was

poor Renaldo looks lost out there

maybe it’s just my Knicks nostalgia coloring the moment but I don’t remember him looking that lost b4

whats up! MY DUDE!

this may sound funny- but i mean this as a very big compliment- but the dude can catch the ball!

he’s always got his hands open to catch the pass and his timing is rather impressive. naturally, this was not an entire game- just the moments where he neglected to embarrass himself.

whats up with how awful (and confusedly gay) eminem’s lyrics were?

he just

put up 19 and 5 in 20 minutes against some ivory coast scrubs

by 100% dundee on Aug 31, 2010 10:59 AM EDT reply actions

Most of that came from

Him being guarded by some 6’7 guy. Good to see he took advantage and put up some points. I hear that he boxed out a lot and the low rebound count was because the ball simply didn’t bounce his way much.

Here's his 3 game line so far...

Here, he’d probably like to forget that Turkey game tho he didn’t get much in minutes, and CIV is kinda weak, but not bad so far. 9 reb’s in 50 minutes…hmmmn. 11 and 3 with 1 block per so far. Side note, dude’s neck looks like a friggin linebackers.

by screamedia on Aug 31, 2010 11:32 AM EDT reply actions

Well ya know

If he’s gonna foul, and we know he will bigtime, he might as well foul bigtime and throw in some “pancakes”!

by screamedia on Aug 31, 2010 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Dah!

He will give us quality minutes in a rotation at center. If we are lucky maybe 10 minutes a game.

He does look like a fould waiting to happen tho

its a good foul.

Needs to stay a little more in control on the defensive end,

seems like he moves his feet almost too fast, which could make him easy to head fake, but the effort is there, and he seems like he could move with any 7’1er in the NBA. Catches the ball well and finishes well. All these are good signs.

Does anyone know if Russia will be playing USA any time soon? Or if there’s a chance of it? I’d love to see our boy go up against some serious ballers, namely Tyson Chandler (the guy Timo should really try to emulate).

I think he;s ready

moves his feet pretty well, I mean these FIBA teams aren’t really NBA caliber, but they’re definitely at least 2-3 steps above a college team. They play really well together for the most part.

Timmah looks smooth out there, really has very good hands (I bet he moisturizes) and seals off his dunks well…no one’s gonna swat that shit away from the weak side.

Seems relatively competent (I saw a bit of this game) defending the basket as well, so I don’t think its out of the question for him to give energy off the bench even right away.

Mozgov, Randolph, Chandler and TD off the bench..really hope Pringles sees that for what it can be. I think if he goes to a complete 2nd unit, putting Roger Mason with them could be a god send since him and Td can interchange with teh P&R while the other sits in the corner waiting to fuck em with the 3 holed stinger.

He didn't grab many rebounds, but according to some Hahn tweet or another, he boxed out like a machine.

Who ever he’s paired on the front line with (especially Randolph) is gonna get huge opportunities to grab boards.

Finally watched the video

and if he always boxes out like he was doing in those highlights then i have no issue with his rebounding. Seems like he mostly worries about boxing out and not who gets the actual rebound. If this really is the case and STAT just has the will power to grab those rebounds after the opposing teams center is completely taken out of the play, then he can easily average ten rebounds a game this year. So in this case Mozgov will help our rebounding situation, but now by himself

You got to admit that this was against some horrible defense

Mozgov wasn’t picking and rolling, he was picking and walking then having a cup of coffee under the rim.
Having said that, he looks comfortable in his own body which is saying a lot for a young guy his size.
I’m concern about his explosiveness or lack-thereof: these were really soft dunks, I wonder if I can make them in traffic or even throw it down fast enough before help gets back in an NBA paced game.
I think he’s a project still, and I don’t think we’ll see an awful lot of him the first year. just my opinion.

he killed greece and in one particular dunk he soared while he drove

gotta remember he’s athletic for a big man don’t think kemp or dwight standards as those are freaks more along the line of a ewing type of athleticism is what i expect from him

by PTfromRP on Sep 2, 2010 9:21 PM EDT up reply actions

He took that elbow to the face at about 19 seconds pretty well.

Maybe that doesn’t get called in the NBA, but he took it like a champ.

Strikeouts are boring- Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic.
