Tommy Dee is reporting that the Nuggets are ready to trade away Carmelo Anthony just as Minnesota did with Kevin Garnett. The Nuggets are weighing the possibility of getting some sort of assets back for Carmelo in case he does intend to walk and test the Free Agency, therefore they may be exploring trade deals.
A source close to the situation has informed me that the Nuggets are looking at a "Kevin Garnett-type" deal in the event that Carmelo Anthony decides not to sign his rumored extension. Garnett was traded from Minnesota to Boston in a 6 player deal that included draft picks in 2007.
The source also said that the Nuggets "will be looking for the best offer" which may not necessarily be from NY.
Although the Knicks may not be able to give the best offer to the Nuggets, if teams are unaware if Melo will extend with them or not they will not give up good assets for him just to leave when the season concludes. If he wants to be a Knick he will be a Knick. Regardless if he is traded away or not. If he gets traded the extension is still up to him to sign. So whether he gets traded somewhere else or finishes the season in Denver, as long as the extension isn't signed hope can still shine bright for Knick fans everywhere.
